On the show, Gadget visited Scotland, England, Egypt, etc. So many countries, real and imagined. Was always disappointed he never visited Australia. Finally some closure.

This classic Australian KFC commercial was the first time Inspector Gadget had an Australian connection.
The second time would be through the direct-to-video Disney sequel film, Inspector Gadget 2, which was filmed in and around the city of Brisbane, Queensland.

@@nicholastosoni707 I'm guessing it was budgetary reasons...it reminds me of how Montreal, Quebec, Canada stood in for Portland, Maine on "Home Alone: The Holiday Heist" or how Los Angeles, California stood in for Minneapolis in "Purple Rain," although the only real Minneapolis scenes were the ones involving the First Avenue night club, where Prince and his band, The Revolution, would perform...

He probably has a house in Australia too, considering that the car with the wheel on the right is parked in front of it. If it were his house in Canada then the car would have had the wheel on the left.
@@AndreiPopescu @Autistic Kitch Mama Good observations! I think it's safe to say this advert simply makes Gadget and his family Australian residents. ;) Despite going to the effort of designing his house exactly like the Season 2 house in the TV series.
When it comes to the series itself, I feel that it's fairly clear - at least in the English-language version - that Gadget is supposed to be living somewhere in the United States. The show was made for US broadcast right from the beginning.
@@Mesterius1 Inspector Gadget was a cartoon created by French animation studio DiC in collaboration with DiC's U.S.-based operations. The cartoon had an American audience in mind and it became a success, leading to its international distribution outside of France and the United States...
