There are Non-organic cotton, printed in chemical colors, so even when decomposed, they leave negative impacts on the environment. I did not know these things when I bought them. So now, I try to use them carefully and reuse them as much as possible. Like in this video, I sewed the remaining pieces of them together to make a bag.
I think there is the most simple way to sew them together. But you should sew something that has 2 layers to let the fabric not frayed after.

I made my first bag today, from scraps of old jeans, old bed sheets, torn cotton tops, and strands of rope. Completely hand-stitched. I have never done anything like this before. Had learnt embroidery in school and had tried it on and off, made some stitched sketchbooks but never took on a big project like this.
Took me around 2-3 weeks to complete it. Had uploaded it in social media stories and people appreciated. I love it myself, and can't believe I made that entire bag on my own.
I don't know if you will read this comment, but I just came online to say thank you to you. Since I discovered your channel, I got the confidence to stitch my own things. I will probably try other projects now. There's an indescribable satisfaction in using and wearing things you have made yourself.
So, thank you for these calming, encouraging, and informational videos. Hand-stitching seems a lot less intimidating since I started following your channel. Thanks a lot 😃😃😃💕
Well done!!
I also have been inspired by Din to make things by hand.
@@silverpromidi Thank you. What all did you make? ❤️❤️
@@Rumpellastilt I am making this bag in the video, but my wrist is a bit sore for some reason - maybe slept on it the wrong way - so I have to take it a bit slower than I would like to. Still three days to finish is better than not starting eh? :)
My first ever hand sewn piece was in primary school when I was about 10 years of age, a night dress :)
@@silverpromidi Yes of course. It took me a lot more time. I have carpal tunnel problems too. Have to take breaks if I sketch or type at a stretch, so I understand rest is very essential in these cases. And creating anything, however slow-paced has a beauty and calmness of it's own. You anyway have decades of experience in this. I have just started, inspired by this channel. May we all stay inspired! ❤️❤️❤️
Watching you work is like watching a Studio Ghibli film. The way Miyazaki romanticizes everyday life, work, food, environments, etc. is the same as how I feel seeing your hands gently shaping and sewing fabric. It is so kind, and full of heart, as if every moment were sacred.
Thank you for such nice words
Well said! I feel the similar feeling.
When I was young and sewing every day I had so many bits of fabric and the family complained about stuff everywhere. I cut up some old coats I was given and made a huge pillow case with a zipper and put all my pieces of fabric in and sat it in a corner like a bean bag, everyone loved it and when I needed something I jsut emptied it, took what I needed and put the rest back. I used to keep the smallest bits 'just in case'.
I have that pillow too, thank you for sharing :D
That is a great idea!!! Awesome.
I will copy your idea because I have million pieces of tiny bits of scrap fabric. Thank you so much.
Evia
I'm inspired by this to make something similar thank you :o)
To think that your family complained before but when it got transformed, boom! Everyone loved it 😆haha nice
@@drownedinnostalgia3433 I was and still am a messy worker! I take loads of fabric out and trims etc and play around until I get it right then clear it all away like nothing happened. My family was just tired of ALL my projects, crochet here, knitting there, patchwork then lace making then doll clothes and furniture, I was ( and still am) constantly planning and making !
Beautiful. Nothing more attractive than such handmade love filled creations 😇❤
I got back to sewing thanks to you. I have been collecting old linen or cotton sheets for a long time and now I know why. Thank you very much.
It is so that these fabrics have been made in such a way that they impact the environment. But they are made. The impact is done. It is a good thing to use all the bits and pieces again to make something useful and well made. It helps to lessen the waste. I love to watch your fingers sewing, I love your scrap basket with the fabric/elastic lid.
Although I have a sewing machine I prefer to sew by hand. I can think and stitch and think.
Your videos are also very beautiful to watch. Thank you.
I feel like I am watching a living pray. I will try this type of work as a living pray for myself as I heal my grief. Peace and many Blessing to you.
I know what you mean. I feel like that too. I get so anxious when making things as if it has to be finished yesterday. I have to remind myself that if I never started it would never get made, so there is no rush to finish, just enjoy the experience.
I so enjoyed this video. I have many cotton scraps from quilting. Now I know what I am going to do with them. I have a very serious lung disease called IPF, I am limited as to what a can do physically. My disease gets worse so I can see myself resting more and more. What a wonderful way to spend my time. I have always loved hand sewing and I do embroidery all the time. Thank you, you are a bit of sunshine in my world.
Thanks for your sharing, I am very touched, and now I know that what I am doing has reached the places where they are needed, thank you
You do everything with such love and care ✨🧚🏻♂️ your creations are soul-filling💖
That is beautiful and so lovely to watch that beautiful stitching
Your handsewing reminds me with my grandma..I learn sewing and crochet from her...and that's really lovely...watching your sewing so amazing...
I find your work and energy staggeringly beautiful. Thank you for this gift to all of us.
I love that you do by hand . I went on a “silent” holiday in July 2020 . I took my to be quilt . And worked 10 days full time not a sound just thoughts and sewing. Should have taken something to cover my thumbmail ... which I damaged ..... but it was goog. Now nearly December have not touched since. Corporate life and craft together is a challenge. 🥴🇿🇦
To watch you sew, gives me such a simple, calm peace. You are amazing and Blessed! Thank you.
Wow ... I m falling in love with these videos more n more... And at last leaf tassels took my heart away 💓
coincidence that i am actually patching/repairing an old treasure quilt now. Loving work from a loved aunt's efforts.
I really admire your patience and craftsmanship 💕
It's real moment of happiness to watch you. Thank you for everything. I hope to see you making a patchwork for bed.

Thank you. Your videos are very inspiring, relaxing and beautiful.
So wonderfully meditative and peaceful. Thank you for posting.
I have so many scraps of fabric that I didn't want to throw away. This inspired me, Thanks
Super cute! Love hand sewing!
Watching your projects are so patient, calm and peaceful ❤️
I love your videos! I sew with a machine and try to find ways to use scraps. Your videos are very helpful in finding ways to do this. Thank you.
Encuentro que usted es una inspiración....la felicitó...muy bello su trabajo😊😊😊
Beautifully finished. Really awesome
In regard to you beginning comment; It is indeed important to consider the sourcing and production of new materials as much as possible.
It is also very good to reuse old materials and keep them in use as long as possible to keep the chemicals out of the soil and water as long as possible, and so I appreciate your reusing and making new from old materials. Throwing away old materials does not protect the environment from them, it just wastes materials that can be used and reused. So... good job remaking things as you do!
I suddenly want to learn how to sew neatly and properly. You're an inspiration :)
So beautiful and calming to watch you stitch. 😍
Beautiful project and such neat stitches! Your cat is a beauty too. Thank you for sharing your projects and your ethically minded process, much like mine 🌹
Your videos are mesirizing. Thank you for sharing your projects. 😃
The great achievement is before the start: the life that is made so peaceful as to accommodate this. The tranquil mind that has cleared away everything that could claim you instead.
Love your videos....so calming... beautifully handsewn with love ...and so much respect for the scraps of material..... thank you so much!💓💓💓💓💓

Beautiful work as always 🙂
I have been thought that am i only who like to collect the left pieces fabric like that... and found your youtube proof me that im not the only girl.😙😙 keep goin sist
imagine making a dress like this !! so pretty :)
Flat lining the patchwork skirt will help reduce fraying from the many seams during washings. I like to use unbleached muslin for its softness. A dress sounds great.
For my daughter's toddler quilt, my Mom used (Arizona) sun bleached cloth rice sacks for the backing and alternate squares.
@@dcinrb8538 that must have looked gorgeous!! :)
Like Sally's dress! From nighmare before christmas
@@mariaflorenciaalvarez1926 okey why haven't i watched this before ? hhhh
I grew up like this.taking scraps and making a large price of material. Made clothes, curtains, blankets. Even rugs..
Hats off to your patience
This is so therapeutic and inspiring to watch. I am reminded of the hand sewing that my Mother and Grandmother did when I was growing up. The result was beautiful and . Thank You so much.

Exactly same work I have seen of my grand mother-in-law though I never met her as she passed away before my marriage. There are so many things at home which is made by her..
When I saw your work it reminds me of her.. I really appreciate it... Love from India...
Lo que más me impreciona. A parte de tus lindos trabajos. Es tu paciencia. Yo hago cubrecamas de patchwork. Pero no tendría la paciencia, para cocer a mano. Te felicito, por tú gran paciencia.
You do really think about environment and that is awesome....👏
If it was Bollywood you just made a dabaang entry in my life. I have currently a pile of scraps and wondered how to make most of it on the top of that I have no sewing machine and all I know is basic sewing so thank you for whatever you just did because you did it superbly.

Simply beautiful. DinLife. is calm life.
This made me smile.
i love your patients
I want to learn stitching, be it machine or by hand. I am a bit intimidated by the thought of stitching so many pieces of fabric. But you make it seem so easy that I am tempted to try it. Also it goes a long way in saving those pieces of fabric and creating something useful and beautiful with it. Thanks. Love your soft music too.
Thank you for being such a H-U-G-E source of inspiration! I love your work!
Perfeita !!! É FEITA COM MUITO AMOR !!!!! QDO É FEITO COM AMOR DEUS ESTÁ PRESENTE !!!!
GRATIDÃO INFINITA
This is the first time I've ever watched this video. Music was great. And I loved that you hand sewed it. I don't do a great amount of sewing but when I do I prefer sewing by hand. It's so meditative. How did you get that stitching si dang straight? It was amazing watching you. I'm gonna check out some more of your videos. Thank you
So lovely... thanks for your sharing!
Спасибо! Как это прекрасно!
This is beautiful and calming to watch ❤x
I just discovered your beautiful work. I use my scraps for projects too but I have to admit I sew them with my sewing machine, I am not patient enough for handsewing. 😚 I make little pouches or a little quilted mat you can put under the foot of your sewing machine. And people love to get them for a little presend as patchwork always looks pleasing. 🥰
Maravilloso, me encanta 😃👍
So many patient you have ... Thats all we need 🤪
Hand sewing is so fascinating..
Amo seu jeito de costurar muito sábia
Hermoso trabajo
