Exactly! I came here to say that very thing! Can't remember if it was Ed Newton or Larry Erikson who designed Twin Mill but there's certainly a strong resemblance. BTW they did eventually build a full size fully functional Twin Mill for Mattel promo at car shows.
Wayne Cherry and Leo Pruneau are amongst the most unsung car design legends ever. Opel will fiercely deny it but ever since Vauxhall and Opel's design team's were merged into GM Europe in the 80s, the styling influence has been far more Vauxhall than Opel, even if the engineering was heavily the latter.
No... one of the vette designers was in on this. It was a concept car that could've been either a vette or a TVR. Seems like the designers were trying to make money off their work one way or another. And cant blame them. That how they make their money.
Why on earth would they destroy the one metal and touring version of this automobile? What a waste of the time and effort put into such a vehicle, even if they had no plans of producing more of these vehicles. Thanks for sharing! Please have an excellent and awesome day!
This is the first I'm hearing about this concept car, and is the last thing I would expect from Vauxhall. It's interesting that American designers look to Europe for inspiration, and European designers return the compliment. I wouldn't be surprised if this design influenced the Dodge Charger III Show Car that came out a few years later . . . . It's too bad Airfix never came out with a model of this. I think it would have sold well. Thanks for making and sharing! 105th Like.
I'm starting to realize over time that I'm starting to like cars that resemble a shark in their image more and more. This is the second or third car that has been designed with the image of a shark in mind.
No one in their right mind would have intentionally destroyed such a machine! Couldn't they at least have given it to some 17-year-old kid, like me when I was 17!
i see some mako shark, chapparal, and even a little cheetah in the style! along with that pontiac concept car, so many could have outdone the corvette!
Nice body style but i would have it with an beer can V-8 fool injection, a dry belly pan system to get it low for control. Just do not crash or you eat the underside of the other guy with ease. Just saying, Thanks , from Canadastan.
Unfortunately I don't know, no source states what caused it to be destroyed. What caused it. Only eternally knows or archival documents within the company.
Except its much smaller & Corvette Stingray with similar style wasn't released until '68. More like '64 Chevrolet Monza concept. Besides Vauxhall is a division of GM, so family resemblance is to be expected.
Looks like a copy of the corvette stingray, but that’s not surprising considering a man from Chevrolet worked on designing it. Looks like a corvette with a more pointed nose and a different rear section
No mention of the Opel GT? It obviously got a lot of it's design cues from the mako shark concept and C3 corvette, as well as influence from this.
They do mention that
totally
I always thought this concept looked like a 1:1 Hot Wheels Twill Mill without the exposed engines. Or at least the basis for the Twin mill.

Very ahead of the time
Beautiful car… I love the smooth flowing lines.

I don’t understand why they would destroy the cars. Should have been in museums.
Bill Thomas' Cheetah, launched in 1964, could have been the styling inspiration for this.

@@Alex-kp2db Agree the front-end treatment is very 'Vette - but a much later model, interestingly.
Thanks for the video, Retro. And congratulations for reaching 11,000 subscribers! You’ll get to 100K before you know it. 🙂
Thank you very much, I try to look for interesting concepts. Slowly we will move forward.
What a cool car! Thank you for sharing
It looks like the twin mill
It sure does!
☝️☝️☝️ This Car look like a Mix of AC Cobra Daytona with Chevy Corvette Stingray!!!... Very Beautiful Car👍👍👍!!!... Excellent Video👏👏👏!!!
Dose your guide dog like it ?
@@tonywright8294 Nice grammar, Troll ... 🤣
I like it.
I always liked TVR's stuff. Always had a good design and high performance engines.
Not a tvr..do you even watch the film?
Im aware. The design reminded me of tvr.@@drd6416

✨👍Very 😀 Nice!👍✨
got a bit of a look of that opel mini corvette thing
A split wind shield!

You mentioned the Torana GTRX. Hope you do a video on that car some day.😁
I'll try to make a video about it soon.

Yes, the inspiration for the car's design came from the mako shark.
Was it front wheel drive?
😎!
Their Corvette before the Corvette became the mako Shark style.
'Oldsmobeel'
I haven't forgotten about Oldsmobile and I even liked one of the concepts, I'll try to create a video about it.
@@retrocarchannel Sorry, I was trying to be subtle. You said 'oldsmobill' instead of 'oldsmobeel.'
How come nobody says it looks like a clear plastic body for a slot-car?
Tis a pity that it wasn’t given to. National motor museum and saved
It look a bit similar to the Chevrolet Cheetah, only sleeker which they started theirs in 1963…
I see some Cheetah in that rear end as well...
Cheetah, can We say Cheetah. With easy cabin entry.
All the vette shark alikes are probably better cars than the original 😂
it has glances from chevy cheetah
Well, if that doesn’t look like the child of a Corvette and a cheetah! Do you think they could make it look any more like a Chevrolet! Lol❤
racing driver raymond mays owned a vauxhall that was supercharged and"much developed"if u can find a picture you will not believe its a vauxhall

Have as an advance kit car with a stock Wankel Rotary engine😉
The yellow one looks like a crow
,
Opel gt
looks like refined copy of the Bill Thomas Cheetah. its almost identical. And they had 3 years to refine it. Too bad they didn't. produce it!
Why would you destroy a unique car like that?
Unfortunately I don't know, no source states what caused it to be destroyed. What caused it. Only eternally knows or archival documents within the company.
Cheetah copy
Looks like a Corvette rip off, FYI.
Except its much smaller & Corvette Stingray with similar style wasn't released until '68. More like '64 Chevrolet Monza concept. Besides Vauxhall is a division of GM, so family resemblance is to be expected.
Corvette wanna be.
That is hideous, I have a little bit of sick in my mouth.
Maybe stop looking in the mirror and you'll feel better
You've got a little bit of sick in your comments too.
