The demand for a separate State for the Indian Gorkhas in India is a rightful demand with the Centre in Darjeeling . But the way to do is wrong. First of all the political leaders and intellectuals must see from where and how the epicentre Darjeeling and surrounding regions are in Bengal. And why has not this region been REUNIFIED with the principal mainland Sikkim even after Sikkim k has been merged with India still ? The sole authority rests on the Central Government no matter how much West Bengal objects because just as a stollen object cannot be owned by the thief an encroached land cannot be part of the encroacher. It has to be returned to the original state. That should be the first demand. Then the name should be decided amicably and suitably. Until then he Gorkhas in India are not INDEPENDENT so why should they celebrate Independence of India when they themselves have taken away the land and rights of its people just as the British had .
