As a foreigner, living alone in Seoul can be lonely during the lunar new year.
Even though majority of stores were closed, we still managed to celebrate Seollal by having Korean food. Eating rice cake soup is a must on the first day of the year, so come and celebrate with us a lonely lunar new year In Myeongdong.

Thanks for the vlog :). Its interessting that food „bring you luck“ 😃 next year I have to eat it too - to have luck for a whole year hihi. What was your most culutureshock when you moved to korea :)?
Hi Mirjana! 😊
First of all we want to thank you for supporting our channel and always leaving nice comments 💕 It really means a lot to us!!
To be honest it’s quite hard to answer your question here as there are just so many things we can think of. We’ll definitely make a separate video on this topic in the future. 😉
@@bibi.bea.official8359 its me a pleasure ☺️ I love your vlogs. Haha yes this question was difficult I think there are many culture differents :) a vlog about it would be very interessting 😊😊
nothing to see here... strong and resilient .. lets go brandon!!
Stop appropriating my culture . It ' s Chinese New Year
Hello! Would just like to state that my parents are from Hong Kong, so I also celebrate Chinese New Year and it is part of my culture BUT China and Hong Kong are not the only countries that celebrate this festivity. Korea and Vietnam are some of the many countries that celebrate it too. Hope you can be mindful of that. Thank you. 😊
@@bibi.bea.official8359 Don't you think it's strange to celebrate festivals in other countries? Why do you celebrate our festival?
These uneducated Chinese pinkies should stop making a fool of themselves. The lunar calendar was compiled by Western missionaries. The zodiac signs corresponding to the twelve Chinese zodiac signs were also passed down from Babylon. Which one is yours?
Happy Chinese New Year
You too!! 🎊🧧
I was very impressed by the Tiananmen pro-democracy movement you told me about last time.
지난번 당신이 알려주신 천안문 민주화운동에 대해 깊은 감명을 받았습니다.
Happy lunar new year!
Hi thank you for your informative video. Just to check is myeongdong/hongdae shopping street open during first or 2nd day of seollal
Hello! I'm not 100% certain, but I reckon that they'll be open on the 1st day of seollal (21st) rather than the 2nd day (22nd) because actual seollal falls on the 22nd January~ hope thar helps 😊
Do you know if shops are open on the 5th day of Lunar New year in Korea? Tks
Hello! It is hard to say nowadays, there will be some shops that are opened and some not. It really depends on the owners. But most franchise café will be opened.
Thank you for your great videos. Don't worry about not having an '' exciting' video. I really enjoyed this one as you could have some tranquility, talk about the holiday and the food and talk to each other with no noise or interruptions. I'm glad that you are spending the New Year together because it is lonely when you are there by yourself. Happy Lunar New Year to both of you, too!!!!
Hey B An, thank you for your sweet comment. Thank you for being understanding about our video, and enjoyed it. We hope you'll enjoy our videos too, and hope you had a lovely lunar new year, and a great weekend ☺😊💕
@@bibi.bea.official8359 Thank you very much. Barbara
Hi. How long is the Korean new year usually celebrated? Is it ok for tourists to be in Seoul during the holiday as most of the shops are closed?
Hello Asyraf!
It normally lasts for 4 days. Yeah, a lot of shops might be closed, or their opening hours might differ slightly so do bear that in mind
Ohhh I see. For next year, the new year will be celebrated from 21-24 Jan 2023?
That is correct 😊
