  • Not often you get to be one of the first to dye a new mould! Here I try a glue bed on the new RPM Dicscs Pekapeka.

The dye turned out better than I thought it would on Cosmic plastic! It was pretty nice looking to begin with, and I think you just made it look better. Hope that Pekapeka is flying true for you 👊

With that style plastic (C-Line, Champ, etc.) in a glue bed I have heard a few things that help... 1) heat for the first hour , be it in the hot sun or under a heat lamp, and 2) 24 to 48 hours to get that dye to set in. Champ is a pretty resilient plastic so you have to give it more time to get more color. Also, did you wash the disc before? Just some thoughts. I dig the video man... both because I like dying discs, and I am looking into adding RPM discs to the bag. Good luck!

Thanks for the tips Randy. I do wash them thoroughly before dyeing. I'm guessing that heat is the answer for the saturation issue!

With those bottles, you don't have issues with powder going into the bed? Or the acetone eating thru the plastic...

The powder is all dissolved so no issues there. I was a little worried about the acetone degrading the plastic but they have been fine so far - I think the quailty of them is quite high. I store them in a separate sealed container in case they do leak.
