    The thin tube shaped glass items are champagne glasses. Usually found in a small ice bucket filled with ice and sitting pre poured on a table.

    • @SherryAnnOfTheWest
      @SherryAnnOfTheWest Рік тому +7

      That's what I thought as well, having seen something similar ... however, they aren't great for that purpose since champagne is supposed to be served ice cold and holding a glass without a stem warms up the glass and the liquid inside.
      Champagne flutes should always have a stem to be held by....
      Actually, ideally, champagne is best served (according to experienced and knowledgeable sommeliers) in a clear glass with a long, thin stem, not necessarily a "flute." And probably definitely not a coupe (you lose fizz too quickly). A fairly tall, egg-shaped design that's both elegant and practical is recommended. Similar to a white wine glass. The larger rim allows the flavors of your favorite Champagne to flourish and has a 'sparkling point,' which aids in the formation of bubbles. Riedel Performance Champagne Glass is a good one.
      I've done some very interesting "tasting" classes where the taste of a wine is dramatically different depending on what kind of glass it's served in .... I thought it was all B.S. until I experienced it myself!

    The little laquored box is not a box, but a Japanese pillow. It's placed at the base of the head and neck. Some had hidden drawers for safekeeping jewelry and money.
    The multicolored and clear vase was made by blowing a bubble in clear and then it was rolled over the color. It goes back into the kiln and the color part fuses into the clear. The color is in the glass and not on it.
    Had my best month ever this year with my booths. Sold a large blenko pitcher, a Lalique Swallows and berries bowl and two of my original art paintings. I'm saying this because I am always hearing about other vendors saying that they know what their customers want. That is a PhD in horse pucky. No one knows what someone else is going to buy, so putting a piece that is a bit out there, works. Last October, the mall sold a 1890s silk top hat and a day later sold a 1980s plastic Godzilla.
    Dare to be different and remember, if the whole world only liked vanilla, we wouldn't have the experience of tutti fruitti.

    • @mamaG4
      @mamaG4 Рік тому +6

      I agree, Daniel, about never really knowing what will sell. I had a booth for ten years. It was not an exclusively antique item mall. They curated a variety of vendors which meant the customer base was varied as well. We had a few tried and true items that always were money makers but otherwise, we offered up some odd things and some would sell and some wouldn’t. It was always interesting to try and guess how it would pan out!
      Thanks for your educational offerings too.

    Those Foo dogs are definitely not stone. Most likely a resin type material. You can tell by the bottom. It was ground down to be flat, but you can see where it was poured into a mold and the liquid settled.

    • @mamaG4
      @mamaG4 Рік тому +1

      While you might be willing to buy a single plate, the majority of buyers are not and Jocelyn is in the business to make a living for her family and single plates aren’t going to work in her favor in that respect. Sometimes it’s about her bottom line and not about supplying everyone with their own pieces. I’m not trying to be rude but from the perspective of a booth owner (as I was for years), it’s about profit margins.

    I am thrilled!!! Thank you for pronouncing Kanawha as many outside of WV do! You are very close to what Jennifer Garner would appreciate! The name is really pronounced using only 2 syllables Ka naw. The word as native American and refers to white rocks. Now let's get George to say it correctly. I have been trying but he can't seem to get it. You have taught me so much. You should plan a trip to The Museum of American Glass in Weston and to Morgantown to Seneca and The Glass Guild. Pass it on.....Ka naw. 🙌

    Two months ago I "found" a glorious orange lava lamp base under white wall paint. Bingo. This way I also got a "found" a brass spider/sputnik lamp, 1950s. And a ceramic chicken and some other vases. Paint adds a new dimension to treasure hunting.

    Don't rule out Telaflora containers. In the floral world they are quite expensive. And they do have series pieces. Such as the Thomas Kincade snow buildings. They are highly collectable and people go nuts over them. Without the fresh flowers added to them they are 30 bucks alone. They light up as well......I have never known Fenton to make anything for the floral market. Also FTD had a crystal vase series too.

    • @annemarievarga1740
      @annemarievarga1740 Рік тому

      I don’t know that Fenton made pieces specifically for the florist industry, but florists could order Fenton for their arrangements through companies like Randall. Coin dot was a popular one. I’m sure there are a lot of florist pieces that were made by big name glass companies but then marked with Randall, Brody, FTD, etc.

    What you were pronouncing as ka-naw-wah is from West Virginia, where they pronounce it ka-naw.

      It's pronounced KUH NAW UH.

      Ka naw is correct. It is from the Delaware tribe and refers to white rocks. Please come to WV and and spend some time in Kanawha County.

      @@charlottelazzelle1002 I have relatives there. It's pronounced Kuh naw uh by people who live there. And I'm aware of the Native American name. You should hear hiow google says it. Oh my! Some in Kanawha pronounce it as you wrote but too many add the uh at the end.

      Thanks for acknowledging my correct pronunciation of what might have been West Virginia's name. Yes, it is said with only two syllables. If you watch George The Antique Nomad, please inform him. I have not been successful with him. Ka naw!

    The more saturated it is with resellers the higher the prices will go.
    Goodwill is serving more to the the resellers than someone who just needs an outfit for work.
