Awesome video. I only sim race this era due to the fun factor. Smaller cars, no drs and overtaking in corners is what F1 should be all about. The ferrari is a lot more fun to race with and hold off the Williams.

F1 wasnt "slow" at all in the mid-90s. By 1997, superior aero and higher revving engines meant the cars were as fast or faster than they were in 1992, despite having none of the driver aids. Then with the narrower grooved tyre cars, lap records exceeded 1997 across the board by 2001, with traction control being allowed and engine revs getting extremely high.

That's true, whenever i was doing comparisons it was purely between 92 and 96 since those are the cars i had access to (at least in the same game)
it's also hard to generalize certain individual years and blocks of years since the cars always develop over the course of the season

And the 1997 tires being very gripy, more so then the 1996 ones.
The whole reason the grooved tyres and and narrow track rules were introduced in '98 was the performance of the '97 cars.

1997 cars were only faster because of the reintroduction of a tire war dropped lap times by seconds
Same thing happened in 2001 look at the lap times from 1996-97 then again from 2000-01 it was more than car evolution that caused that time drop

Which is also why I always laugh about the put the F2004 on slicks it would be faster than the W11 argument when they literally had custom fitted tires built by Bridgestone for those cars compared to the mess that we call Pirelli tires
Are slicks faster than grooved slicks yes, but are control tire slicks faster than grooved slicks built for a particular car in a tire war era - that question is murkier

@@RANDOMZBOSSMAN1 Alonso reunited with the R25 with super slicks on, Massa test drived the 2008 Bmw Sauber with some experimental slicks, so nice try Diddy
Wait you think grooved bridgestone tyres are better than pirelli slicks just because they were made for the 2004 regulations? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Mansell's pole at 1992 Spa with the robotic FW14: 1'50.405".
Villeneuve's pole at 1997 Spa with the no driver aids FW19: 1'49.450".
    Doesn't look slower to me...

    So... Mercedes 2020?

Nice content. I'm curious about the speed of F! cars across era and how they compare to each other.

Me too it's super interesting! Just hard to test since there's SO many variables.

Bro, you are so slow, your not using all the track and when you are, you are not subtle on the turn-in to get in the asphalt.
