You see i am so sad because i've lost the one,by whom i'm so proud to be called grandson.I know her souls in heaven as my heart begins to sing, because i know she waits patiently in the wings. Freddy entered the studio. He sings the song completely in English. Estelle Parsons, stops him, after listening to the song, "Freddie, could you do me a favor and sing part of it in Spanish." He had to be pushed into singing it in Spanish. "There are millions of Spanish music buyers...it will increase the sales triple." And, it did. Well done Freddy

How in the world did 3,621 people (as of this writing) give this a thumbs down? Freddy Fender had one of the greatest voices of all time. Very few artists have ever been capable of putting the amount of emotion into a song as Freddy. George Jones, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams Sr., Merle Haggard, and Lefty Frizzell are the only artists that immediately come to mind. I'd say that's some pretty darn good company.

+Stephanie Trinh He was one of the very best in Country Music. Before he died his dream was to be inducted into The Country Music Hall Of Fame. Freddy passed with his dream not coming true. To this date that I know of he still hasn't been placed in The Hall Of Fame, and what about Johnny Rodriguez. He's not in The Hall Of Fame. There's singers in The Hall Of Fame that have done less for Country Music. Why is Freddy, and Johnny left out?

My dad was there to dry a few tear drops in my teenage years and mend my broken heart. But none were ever greater than losing my dad to cancer. I know he's always there when I'm missing him, and the next tear drop falls. I love you dad more than words could ever be written; spoken or sung. This song brings back great memories. And I've always seen a lot my grandpa's face in myself so seeing his brother here is remarkable. I'm 25 now and and I was just a baby when he saw me but I'm glad I can still cherish his music at least and I'm thankful there's so many out there still cherishing his work of music too.

I really thought I had found that years ago but I discovered that it was "His happiness that mattered to him most of all," I'm so sorry for all the heartaches that all of us have had. I pray that we all have a Freddy Fender to help us through those sad times. Love you, Freddy. RIP

I was engaged to a woman who had a child to a previous marriage- her little daughter's father took off (literally disappeared) when the child was 1 year old. He filed for divorce and was gone- little to no explanation. I dated this woman for 2 years before we got engaged, and we were engaged for one year- we set the wedding for one year after the date of our engagement. The child was 4 years old by this time and I was the only "Daddy" she had ever known. I loved that little girl like my own, and I sincerely loved her mother so much so that even though this happened 20 years ago it still hurts to think about it.
Anyhow, weeks before the wedding the child's father came back into the picture. He swooped in and said he had "grown up" and finally realized how much he had loved her and the child. My fiance was so confused, she still had feelings for this man. I hated seeing her heart ache and her world turned up-side-down. I loved this woman so much, I wanted so badly to keep her and be with her forever... BUT, I was one of those men who said "it's your happiness that matters most of all". It became clear to me after many discussions that she still loved this man, but was torn and didn't want to hurt me. Her happiness was more important to me than my own feelings... I can't even describe how bad it broke my heart, but I gracefully bowed out so she could be happy. It was the hardest thing I have EVER done in my life, but her happiness was more important than anything to me.
He took them away to Florida where he had found a good job and I never saw them again for many years. I did NOTHING but cry for a long time... not only to lose this person I loved so much, but the little girl who was like my own daughter was also gone. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat. Saying I was a mess would be an understatement. My whole world and everything that mattered to me was GONE. I would get updates from my fiance's mother who still lived near me. Her mother said it would be best that I don't write to them and further confuse the little girl that ached for the only daddy she had known. I honored that and stayed away. I was very confused also for a long time, I kept wondering how it was so easy for her to just walk away from me- what I had done wrong, all those questions that haunt someone with a broken heart.
Around 2 years ago my ex fiance moved back here to my area. I have been married for many years now and have a wonderful family (4 kids) and love my wife very much. But, even though I ended up with this wonderful family and am happy, when I saw the woman who broke my heart so many years ago- my heart still dropped into my stomach. It took the breath from my body to see her. When I saw her for the first time after all those years she quickly took off to avoid me- pretended like she didn't see me. About a week later an old friend of mine had also ran into her and he called me and said she told him to tell me that she would like to have lunch with me that weekend. I didn't want to go. My wife said to me "I trust you, you should go and end it once and for all". So at my wife's insistence I agreed to meet with my ex fiance that Saturday. I sat and waited at the diner near my house, when she walked in the same feelings came over me- heart in my stomach and so forth. She looked so afraid... she started to cry before she even got to my booth. She walked right up to me in tears, her hands were shaking, and she put her hand on my face and softly said through tears "I AM SOOOOOO SORRY".
I am glad I went. It ended all of those years of wondering, and gave a proper resolution to something I hadn't even realized still bothered me so much. It felt good to know that it wasn't as easy for her as it seemed to just walk away from me. We talked for a while, hugged and I left. It felt like a weight had been lifted.
Anyway, I told you this big long story this morning just so you would know that there ARE guys out there who DO SAY "your happiness matters most of all" despite their own feelings. I'm not saying I am better than anyone else- just that sometimes when a man loves someone so much, he does prioritize her feelings above his own. It does happen. I am sorry you were hurt, nobody should ever have to go through that. I know what it's like. Thank you for letting me tell this story to you. I was thinking about it all this morning which is why I was listening to this song, then I saw your comment and thought I would share the story. Have a wonderful day :-)

    • @patmelton43
      @patmelton43 10 років тому +2

KLUNKET WOW!!! Thank you for sharing that. I am sorry you went through such pain but it sounds like you have a wonderful family now. I was asking God just last night why some people seem to suffer so much in this area while others appear to just sail through life. My conclusion is that suffering makes us better people, maybe a little gentler.
My ex-husband betrayed me almost immediately by sharing with his mother every thing I told him in confidence. He ruined a relationship with my sister and me by blabbing something I had shared with him out of my pain. It was a terrible experience and I had no better sense than to share it with him. I needed to talk about it with someone who would understand and yes, sympathesize and maybe offer a little comfort, but he TOLD her. To me that was a major betrayal. I am so glad he later left me for another woman -- now! But for so many years I felt rejected. I am way too sensitive. While time has not exactly healed, only God does that, it has clarified that his leaving was the best thing that could have happened to me.
We have children so I still have contact with him and I really like his wife. His current wife is not the one for whom he initially left me. She still tells me, "why didn't you warn me about him?" Now, he complains that SHE tells everything he shares with her!! I told him, "God really has a sense of humor, doesn't he? Remember, how you blabbed every thing I ever told you? Remember the extreme embarrassment you caused me? It's payback time." Actually, we are all friends now. It was so long ago that now my ex feels like someone I grew up with and it's peculiar how God worked it out that we could be friends after so much heartache.
I just want him and his family to be okay now. God has so blessed me and I am pretty happy.
It's good to know there is someone like you out there! God bless you. Pat

    • @KLUNKET
      @KLUNKET 10 років тому +2

Pat Melton You are most welcome- I am not sure what prompted me to share that story, its just that after reading what you wrote it just seemed appropriate.
Again, I am so sorry you went through what you went through- nobody deserves to feel that kind of pain. I have to agree with what you said, through that suffering we become better people.
Because of this woman I loved just taking off like she did without making any attempt to even let me know they were OK or anything- I had a distrust of women for a while after that. When I met my wife (of many years now) I was very hesitant to commit for fear I would just be hurt again. I also became very jealous thinking that every man she came in contact with would be the one to take her away from me. Because of this I was way harder on her than I should have been back then. BUT, that has also turned out to be a good thing. Our relationship survived those hard times and eventually restored my faith in love. That has created a bond that is seemingly unbreakable today. We have been married for the better part of two decades now and to us it still seems new! I guess happy endings do happen sometimes!!
Take care, If you ever need someone to talk to, just send me a note!! God Bless...

I often wonder if music can bring us together as a people in this country, when so much else fails. I remember how we white kids embraced Motown and soul music in the Sixties. And I remember Freddie and Charley Pride, both iconic country music figures who were not, well, white. Not seeing any like that these days in the country world, and they need to be there, to let the white folk who favor country know it isn't just THEIR music. It is the music of all in our great nation.
And this song is one of the most moving country songs ever. Gracias, Freddy. Si, se puede.

Why not cultural appreciation? I mean, we white folk love the music. Motown, Banda, Rap, Hip Hop. You name it. Are we to be told we cannot enjoy it because we are not in the "right" group? Does anyone know here where that goes? Racial war. Genocide. We DO NOT WANT THAT. Or at least most of us not Trump supporters do not.
We are the great country we are BECAUSE of immigrants. Stop them, and see us decline.

Wow. Huge leap there. NO, did not mean that at all. Meant we have been enriched by those different from folks like, well, me. Being I am a WASP, with roots here going back well before the Revolution, meaning the American one. Part of our greatness as a nation is our unique embrace of so many different peoples and cultures, not without conflict or pain. But there. I only hope that attitude continues to inform who we are as a people. Music is just one manifestation of how that has enriched us.

Lethe River I understand where you're coming from, and it's a lot more rare nowadays, due to the fact that music is so accessible. music is so easy to get and waste that people don't stick to much, but if you go into the any underground in any country, you'll find people with countless music interest. my friend from tijuana just recently sold a mambo record to someone in Japan, and I know of this son, salsa, vallenato blog that is ran by this dude in Belgium. The music still unites all types of ethnicities and cultures, unfortunately you just gotta dig deeper for these nerds.

one thing when your young, you dont understand is that in order for it to be love, the person has to love you back and if they are not happy when they are with you, they are not the one, you are not the one and so there is nothing worth saving if your other chooses to be miserable. the only thing to do is to let them go, let them go find their happiness and a true loving act from you is letting them go, because you want them to be happy even if it costs you your happiness and causes you much pain.
a freind put it to me like this, when i was young. if your standing on a cliff over the sea, and looking at the sunset, the sunset is beautiful, but the waves down below are crashing against this cliff and soon it will fall into the sea. do you try to do everything you can when in the end, this cliff will go crashing into the sea, do you try to save it when there are a thousand other cliffs where the sunset is just as beautiful?
this is how i approach my love. they have to know where the door is. and if they hold in their hearts a love for another or think there is something more, then i must be second best. no, i am not second best. i love myself more.
...and thats just it, you have to love yourself more, you have to love yourself first and only then will you understand.

    If he brings you happiness
Then I wish you all the best
It's your happiness that matters most of all
But if he ever breaks your heart
    If the teardrops ever start
I'll be there before the next teardrop falls
    Si te quiere de verdad
    Y te da felicidad
Te deseo lo más bueno pa' los dos
    Pero si te hace llorar
    A mé me puedes hablar
Y estaré contigo cuando triste estás
    I'll be there anytime
You need me by your side
To drive away every teardrop that you cried
And if he ever leaves you blue
    Just remember, I love you
And I'll be there before the next teardrop falls
And I'll be there before the next teardrop falls
