Beautiful voice; so anointed by God to bring love, hope, & encouragement to so many of us, in his days here on earth. May we all see and accept that God is the author of all of our stories, and He wrote a beautiful story thru Freddie’s songs. The Holy Spirit supernaturally guided me to this song today, and it is bringing healing to me, from years ago hurts in several of my relationships , & the memories of my deceased husband saying to me: “If anyone ever harms you, or our children, I would kill them with my bare hands.” As I listen to Freddie’s words in this song, it appears they are the feelings that my husband was trying to lovingly express. May Freddie’s songs live on, to bring the healing to others that this song did to me, today. His heart was the compassion of God’s ♥️ of love. 🙌🎶✝️⚓️🙏👏👏

To this date that I know of he still hasn't been placed in The Hall Of Fame, and what about Johnny Rodriguez. He's not in The Hall Of Fame. There's singers in The Hall Of Fame that have done less for Country Music. Why is Freddy, and Johnny left out?

I saw Freddy Fender is person in what would be one of his last concerts in Chandler AZ. You can tell he was sick and struggling but he still performed with heart and soul and it was a fantastic concert.
Freddy entered the studio. He sings the song completely in English. Estelle Parsons, stops him, after listening to the song, "Freddie, could you do me a favor and sing part of it in Spanish." He had to be pushed into singing it in Spanish. "There are millions of Spanish music buyers...it will increase the sales triple." And, it did. Well done Freddy
Voice of angel right there.as a kid riding with my dad in the car it's was the oldie station on all the time, I didn't see it then, now I close my eyes and listen.
Fantastic entertainer !! One of my favorite songs is The Border. He also was my father in law and mother in law's favorite singer. They had his music played at their wedding. Both of them were older and went through a lot of strife in life. Everytime they played his music they danced together !!
In remembrance of my Uncle Bobby I would go visit every summer and listen to Freddy Fender with sometimes we would dance I was just a young girl. My Uncle Bobby passed away last year it was so sad so everytime I hear Greddy Fender it makes me cry .What an awesome singer. My Uncle would sing in both versions the spanish and english and it taught me to when I was a young girl.
My grandpa taught me this song. When I was 12 he passed away due to stage 4 cancer. I redound this song a few months ago and promised to learn all the lyrics. This song still brings tears to my eyes
How in the world did 3,621 people (as of this writing) give this a thumbs down? Freddy Fender had one of the greatest voices of all time. Very few artists have ever been capable of putting the amount of emotion into a song as Freddy. George Jones, Marty Robbins, Hank Williams Sr., Merle Haggard, and Lefty Frizzell are the only artists that immediately come to mind. I'd say that's some pretty darn good company.
Beautiful song, my grandads favourite song. He loved country, sadly he passed away 1 month and this song played at his funeral. Will cherish this song forever ❤️❤️❤️
My meemaw loved this song and when I was 11 years old and going to my first school dance, she played this 45 over and over and she taught me how to slow dance. She smoked Winston cigarettes and she had a cigarette in her mouth the whole time and to this day every time I hear this song my eyes water
My Grandmother loved this song too. Her and her sisters used to have Sunday jam sessions in the kitchen at our house. Nana on the guitar, Aunty Dulcie playing the steel and every available voice in the house on vocals. Man I miss those days!
Glad that crap is going away. I'm sorry to all those whom I burned one in the presence of who wanted to be in the situation but not in the carcinogens. Now if I could just ditch the vape for good. I dont wanna be that guy, but since about 6 months since I burned my last cigarette, and the house has aired out a bit, dam* that shi* really does stink.
Those of you that know me and remember my Dad would be suprised to know my Dad was a big Country Western Music Fan and in the early 70s when this was a big hit it often came on the radio in our car on family trips my Dad was a pretty decent Singer and loved this song despite being of Italian heritage and not being formally taught in Spanish he could sing along and. hit all the Spanish parts perfect ! in those days My Dad would sing it to my Mom in the Cars he would be driving as my Father liked having quality Stereo Sound in his Cars !
This was played at my grandpas funeral and have listened to this song throughout my life. My momma and brother mean the world to me and this song is absolute happiness. I love you all ❤️🫶
Freddie used to come to our hometown, Alice, Texas, at our K.C. and play. He was young and awesome. Saw him in person a few times. May God have him in peace. Amen!
This is such a beautiful song and I have loved listening to him while I was growing up especially this song where he sings Spanish. I live not far from where he was born and while going down the freeway there's a tall white tank in a field with his name and picture on it. He's gone to be with the Father 🙏 and All those other great artist but we will All be together again one day! We love 💕 and miss you Freddy Fender!!!
My mom was in high school with Freddy Fender (Edinburg, Texas). His real name given at birth was: Baldemar Huerta. My mom was not allowed to hang around with this talented singer, because he was a high school pot smoker.
George Deal - seriously? Garza? OMG ! Did you know... Irene Garza? My dad was an avid Freddie Fender fan! Going back quite a few years; I remember him getting his first eight track tape of Freddie! He loved this particular song! My dad was there to dry a few tear drops in my teenage years and mend my broken heart. But none were ever greater than losing my dad to cancer. I know he's always there when I'm missing him, and the next tear drop falls. I love you dad more than words could ever be written; spoken or sung. This song brings back great memories. Love eternal. 💔🙏😢
Oh, Freddy . . . the world may not miss you, but the world may not know what "genuine" means. Jesus, I love this stuff . . . and he did the same "live" at the National Date Festival each balmy February night here in the Coachella Valley. He always dragged in big crowds, for this kind of wonderful, sincere, soulful stuff. He was UNIQUE! RIP, Freddy, I love you!
I was born in 1994. Both my parents loved music and they made sure that our house was filled with it. I am now 25 and have lost them both. When I hear this song, I feel a wave of nostalgia about my parents and my childhood. ♥️
Such a nice man...I was doing security for him and I had a Honda CRX and I drove him back to his motel after he performed. Truly a gentleman and such a wonderful voice.
I poured my love into a relationship and I never received an ounce of love in return. It was 40 years in the wilderness. I had to walk away with hurt, pain and my dignity. I will just live with my imagination and be happy alone.
El Beebop Kid. That's how he was first known in our small town of San Benito TX. My father went to school with him. He got his name from his favorite brand of guitar, Fender. He is a loved and treasured artist. He will be severely missed.
Oh man this takes me way back and those were the good ole days!!! Man he can sing. Miss this kind of singing. They just don't sing like they used to anymore. We do have good singers now but just not like they used to be. I mean theres never gonna be another George Jones,Merle Haggard, and Waylon Jennings and Johnny Cash and dare I say ELVIS PRESLEY!!!
Freddy almost did one of my songs, but lost a son and most of his gear in the mid-80s. His wife and Freddy called me, but things when they go bad go bad, and the Fenders were living at a friends in Corpus Christi back then. ... I just found a demo the other day hand made by the Texas Tornadoes and smiled because I knew that gig came along and helped him and his family a lot from years of hardship.
This one brings back many happy memories and better times..The teardrops certainly start when you hear this one. It must be decades since I heard this beauty.Treasured memories.. T.Heslop UK.

I cannot imagine a man who says: "it's your happiness that matters most of all." I really thought I had found that years ago but I discovered that it was "His happiness that mattered to him most of all," I'm so sorry for all the heartaches that all of us have had. I pray that we all have a Freddy Fender to help us through those sad times. Love you, Freddy. RIP
I was engaged to a woman who had a child to a previous marriage- her little daughter's father took off (literally disappeared) when the child was 1 year old. He filed for divorce and was gone- little to no explanation. I dated this woman for 2 years before we got engaged, and we were engaged for one year- we set the wedding for one year after the date of our engagement. The child was 4 years old by this time and I was the only "Daddy" she had ever known. I loved that little girl like my own, and I sincerely loved her mother so much so that even though this happened 20 years ago it still hurts to think about it. Anyhow, weeks before the wedding the child's father came back into the picture. He swooped in and said he had "grown up" and finally realized how much he had loved her and the child. My fiance was so confused, she still had feelings for this man. I hated seeing her heart ache and her world turned up-side-down. I loved this woman so much, I wanted so badly to keep her and be with her forever... BUT, I was one of those men who said "it's your happiness that matters most of all". It became clear to me after many discussions that she still loved this man, but was torn and didn't want to hurt me. Her happiness was more important to me than my own feelings... I can't even describe how bad it broke my heart, but I gracefully bowed out so she could be happy. It was the hardest thing I have EVER done in my life, but her happiness was more important than anything to me. He took them away to Florida where he had found a good job and I never saw them again for many years. I did NOTHING but cry for a long time... not only to lose this person I loved so much, but the little girl who was like my own daughter was also gone. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat. Saying I was a mess would be an understatement. My whole world and everything that mattered to me was GONE. I would get updates from my fiance's mother who still lived near me. Her mother said it would be best that I don't write to them and further confuse the little girl that ached for the only daddy she had known. I honored that and stayed away. I was very confused also for a long time, I kept wondering how it was so easy for her to just walk away from me- what I had done wrong, all those questions that haunt someone with a broken heart. Around 2 years ago my ex fiance moved back here to my area. I have been married for many years now and have a wonderful family (4 kids) and love my wife very much. But, even though I ended up with this wonderful family and am happy, when I saw the woman who broke my heart so many years ago- my heart still dropped into my stomach. It took the breath from my body to see her. When I saw her for the first time after all those years she quickly took off to avoid me- pretended like she didn't see me. About a week later an old friend of mine had also ran into her and he called me and said she told him to tell me that she would like to have lunch with me that weekend. I didn't want to go. My wife said to me "I trust you, you should go and end it once and for all". So at my wife's insistence I agreed to meet with my ex fiance that Saturday. I sat and waited at the diner near my house, when she walked in the same feelings came over me- heart in my stomach and so forth. She looked so afraid... she started to cry before she even got to my booth. She walked right up to me in tears, her hands were shaking, and she put her hand on my face and softly said through tears "I AM SOOOOOO SORRY". I am glad I went. It ended all of those years of wondering, and gave a proper resolution to something I hadn't even realized still bothered me so much. It felt good to know that it wasn't as easy for her as it seemed to just walk away from me. We talked for a while, hugged and I left. It felt like a weight had been lifted. Anyway, I told you this big long story this morning just so you would know that there ARE guys out there who DO SAY "your happiness matters most of all" despite their own feelings. I'm not saying I am better than anyone else- just that sometimes when a man loves someone so much, he does prioritize her feelings above his own. It does happen. I am sorry you were hurt, nobody should ever have to go through that. I know what it's like. Thank you for letting me tell this story to you. I was thinking about it all this morning which is why I was listening to this song, then I saw your comment and thought I would share the story. Have a wonderful day :-)
KLUNKET WOW!!! Thank you for sharing that. I am sorry you went through such pain but it sounds like you have a wonderful family now. I was asking God just last night why some people seem to suffer so much in this area while others appear to just sail through life. My conclusion is that suffering makes us better people, maybe a little gentler. My ex-husband betrayed me almost immediately by sharing with his mother every thing I told him in confidence. He ruined a relationship with my sister and me by blabbing something I had shared with him out of my pain. It was a terrible experience and I had no better sense than to share it with him. I needed to talk about it with someone who would understand and yes, sympathesize and maybe offer a little comfort, but he TOLD her. To me that was a major betrayal. I am so glad he later left me for another woman -- now! But for so many years I felt rejected. I am way too sensitive. While time has not exactly healed, only God does that, it has clarified that his leaving was the best thing that could have happened to me. We have children so I still have contact with him and I really like his wife. His current wife is not the one for whom he initially left me. She still tells me, "why didn't you warn me about him?" Now, he complains that SHE tells everything he shares with her!! I told him, "God really has a sense of humor, doesn't he? Remember, how you blabbed every thing I ever told you? Remember the extreme embarrassment you caused me? It's payback time." Actually, we are all friends now. It was so long ago that now my ex feels like someone I grew up with and it's peculiar how God worked it out that we could be friends after so much heartache. I just want him and his family to be okay now. God has so blessed me and I am pretty happy. It's good to know there is someone like you out there! God bless you. Pat
Pat Melton You are most welcome- I am not sure what prompted me to share that story, its just that after reading what you wrote it just seemed appropriate. Again, I am so sorry you went through what you went through- nobody deserves to feel that kind of pain. I have to agree with what you said, through that suffering we become better people. Because of this woman I loved just taking off like she did without making any attempt to even let me know they were OK or anything- I had a distrust of women for a while after that. When I met my wife (of many years now) I was very hesitant to commit for fear I would just be hurt again. I also became very jealous thinking that every man she came in contact with would be the one to take her away from me. Because of this I was way harder on her than I should have been back then. BUT, that has also turned out to be a good thing. Our relationship survived those hard times and eventually restored my faith in love. That has created a bond that is seemingly unbreakable today. We have been married for the better part of two decades now and to us it still seems new! I guess happy endings do happen sometimes!! Take care, If you ever need someone to talk to, just send me a note!! God Bless...
Man, it had to be a real treat to see Freddy Fender perform in person. Just look at his expressions and mannerisms he puts into his singing. Can you imagine doing The Same Songs so many times and putting out so much emotion for your audience repeatedly for years? True Talent!

To this date that I know of he still hasn't been placed in The Hall Of Fame, and what about Johnny Rodriguez. He's not in The Hall Of Fame. There's singers in The Hall Of Fame that have done less for Country Music. Why is Freddy, and Johnny left out?
+Steffie Trinh he died a couple years ago

+ChuLa Saucedo I agree. he was a great country singer and should be recognized.. downloaded his songs today to play in my country music collections.

Hello Kate
How are you doing today?
@@ThompsonSmith207 It's me, katehere, which BoobTube has blocked me from. I'm good, how bout you? And I just listened and sang along to this now that I'm here Lol Do you love this song?
I saw Freddy Fender is person in what would be one of his last concerts in Chandler AZ. You can tell he was sick and struggling but he still performed with heart and soul and it was a fantastic concert.
Mesmerising expression of love!
A soulful composition dear beloved Fender. Thank you for your the song and the singing!
I'm still listening to these legends
Hello Sandra, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
Oh wow... every country bar in the early 1970's had this on the juke box.... I can still smell the bar room as I listen to this... timeless classic...
Well done Freddy
...many of his songs were bilingual.
Voice of angel right there.as a kid riding with my dad in the car it's was the oldie station on all the time, I didn't see it then, now I close my eyes and listen.
Cool. Thanks

Fantastic entertainer !! One of my favorite songs is The Border. He also was my father in law and mother in law's favorite singer. They had his music played at their wedding. Both of them were older and went through a lot of strife in life. Everytime they played his music they danced together !!
This song is one of my favorite nice memories RIP Freddy still listening to your song. How are you Nancie ?

My grandpa taught me this song. When I was 12 he passed away due to stage 4 cancer. I redound this song a few months ago and promised to learn all the lyrics. This song still brings tears to my eyes
Amazing how certain songs can transport you back in time. Mr. Fender was one of my Mom's favs. Thanks for the time travel, much appreciated 🙏
Awesome
I live near his home town San Benito texas very south texas. They have a water tower there in memory of him. Great voice.

This song reminds me of my mom and grandmother. They both loved this song and they are both deceased 😢.
My bad, I forgot Keith Whitley. Can't forget Keith Whitley.
Freddy Fender is the best PEEPS !!

Wasted days and wasted nights pal
Beautiful song, my grandads favourite song. He loved country, sadly he passed away 1 month and this song played at his funeral. Will cherish this song forever ❤️❤️❤️
I know of a man had often sung this song to his daughters. What a beautiful thing to do for your daughters! The love of their father. ❤
Hello Shirley, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
My meemaw loved this song and when I was 11 years old and going to my first school dance, she played this 45 over and over and she taught me how to slow dance. She smoked Winston cigarettes and she had a cigarette in her mouth the whole time and to this day every time I hear this song my eyes water
Such lovely memories e 🌹🌹
@Steve Wilson Good luck for you that you had a good grandmother. Love your story about her.

This is such a beautiful song and I have loved listening to him while I was growing up especially this song where he sings Spanish. My mom was in high school with Freddy Fender (Edinburg, Texas).
His real name given at birth was: Baldemar Huerta.
My mom was not allowed to hang around with this talented singer, because he was a high school pot smoker.

Had an orange Ford Pinto. No heat. No air Single mom with two girls. Only one 8 track tape. Freddie Fender.. no matter where we were going we were happy and singing along to this tape. Miss those days . Miss my tape . Don't miss the car ....

That's true about how he got his name BUT it was on a Fender Amp Speaker.

Hello Deborah, how are you doing today, hope you’re fine and safe from the COVID-19 virus??
I cannot imagine a man who says: "it's your happiness that matters most of all." I really thought I had found that years ago but I discovered that it was "His happiness that mattered to him most of all," I'm so sorry for all the heartaches that all of us have had. I pray that we all have a Freddy Fender to help us through those sad times. Love you, Freddy. RIP
yes...
Pat
KLUNKET Wow indeed. That is one hell of a story. Thanks for sharing and best of luck to you. (BTW I too am a huge fan of The Possum.)
My Spanish sucks, and this song still tears me up. Must be the way he sings. RIP, Senor Huerta.
Man, it had to be a real treat to see Freddy Fender perform in person. Just look at his expressions and mannerisms he puts into his singing. Can you imagine doing The Same Songs so many times and putting out so much emotion for your audience repeatedly for years? True Talent!
