Ahh Generation 5. Defined by weather (very shocked that Politoad didn’t make it to the top 5), Dragons, and of course Fighting-types (which is why I was so shocked at the #1 pick). For people wondering about Haxerous, it’s strong and was used a lot in the early BW days. Unfortunately, when BW2 came along, other dragons such as Garchomp, Hydreigon (Fairy-types didn’t exist back then), Dragonite, the Lati twins, and Kyurem Black became more popular picks and Haxerous became overshadowed as a result.
Scrafty is my favorite Fighting-type, and I remember sweeping someone's team in Showdown with it using Dragon Dance and Moxie. That's a memory I keep very close to my heart, and it's one of the reasons I love Scrafty.
@@PokéJolt50 Scrafty is just good. Good attack, GREAT defenses, which is one of the reasons why I like him, and one of the few pokemon where every ability is a good one
My favourite Gen 5 Pokémon Krokodile was really good for my play through. Once I caught it, I was able to sweep almost any team with it. I love that Pokémon so much.
I know garbador isn't particularly regarded as a good Pokémon design but I absolutely think trubish is the most adorable little 5th gen buddy. 🎉 my other favorite is drilbur & it's evolution. Dam so cool 😎
You forgot Serperior with contrary ability and leaf storm, serperior with contary is the main reson why i complete a 50 win streak in both gen 6 and gen 7 battle chateau and battle tree respectively, but unfortunate i couldn't got one in gen 5
as a day 1 Blaziken fan i will never forget the day Blaziken got Speed Boost, the day it became the first starter to ever be banned to Ubers, or Gen V competitive as a whole. Blaziken was always a UU pokemon, it did pretty well in the tier but it was never as good as Swampert or Infernape, essentially its two main rivals. but then it got Speed Boost, & it was dominating OU. even when it got banned, but it still held its own in Ubers thanks to the prevalence of Steel types in a Dragon-dominated meta. Gen VI powercreep was inevitable but then it got a Mega with the same broken ability & much better stats, so it didn’t even properly fall off until Gen 8. sorry for the pokemon history essay but i came here to see if Blaziken was on the list.
I love Gliscor sm and I always wanna use it on my Platinum team but I always neglect it in favor of better ground types. Same with Toxicroak as a fighting type.
Gen 5 is actually my personal favorite competitive gen growing up. I liked gen 4 too, but I thought gen 5 just added more complexity with the weather and all that. I loved having battles where you essentially had to treat your weather pokemon as your king chess piece.
I just finished playing Pokémon white 2 and I really wasn't aware of how good swaroness can be in this game. Absolutely one of my favorite flying types now
You forgot the most important reason why Excadrill was so insane in its heyday: Sand Rush. Especially since weather was still “permanent” back then. EDIT: Speaking of permanent weather-and those who cast it-I LOVE the Gojira remix you threw in for #1.
Gen 5 is my favorite out of all gens. And Conkeldurr is definitely my favorite pokemon. His design, stats , move pool and ability are all great to say the least. Too bad it didn't make this list. Nevertheless, great video 👌🏽
In 2016-17 I got a 3ds and binged Alpha Sapphire. It was my return to the game after pokemon white. I have videos of my matchmaking in Alpha Sapphire where I was spec sweeping with Volcarona and Charizard X. They were 2 of my favs but everytime I play I'll keep an obligatory Nidoking, "Competitive" or not hes my favorite. In Gen 5 I ran Hydreigon, Samurott, and switched out between a lot of monsters like Drapion, Tyranitar, Yanmega and others I cant remember the names of. It's a nostalgia for sure.
I love Gen 5 so much. So many cool Pokemon who were very good. Yes some bad ones too but that's always the case. Gen 2 was filled with crappy and incomplete Pokemon yet people love it. And this game actually let you use the new Pokemon.
love mysticumbreon great channel i am a large Keldeo Fan so i am hopeful that he will make an entry in another top ten list also my favorite typing is Water and Ghost Types i actually hope to see more duel types with that typing i have always thought that an Erie Shipwreck island area should be introduced in the pokemon games with a gym that has that is aboard a spooky ship wreckage some spooky pirate ghost like pokemon and the trainers would be using ghost/water types
@Toadaux that's my bad. I kinda just had it playing in the background for some noise and must have missed the parameters of the rankings . I just happened to catch that keldeo part.
Could you make a best Pokémon of each type to use for a playthrough of scarlet & voilet. Love the videos, i enjoy binging them. Id also like to know what fire type pokemon is best for a sv playthrough that isnt picking fuecoco. 😮
So gen 5 was weather based in competitive due to abilities that put weather used to last the entire battle until the opponent changes the weather or uses sunny day?
You forgot Serperior with contrary ability and leaf storm, serperior with contary is the main reson why i complete a 50 win streak in both gen 6 and gen 7 battle chateau and battle tree respectively, but unfortunate i couldn't got one in gen 5
I'm not a competitive expert cuz I do standard vanilla playthroughs- aside from the occasional Eevolution team... but how is half of this list even legit when you can't even obtain the Pokémon in these games? Particularly the non-Unova ones in the sequels
mystic: Ferrothorn is a REALLY GOOD pokemon how about a flamethrower from a faster fire type pokemon whats the point of making a meme of yourself despising slow pokemon just to call a slow pokemon like ferrothorn that can be OKOed by any fire type move before it has a chance to do anything THAT GOOD?
with a strong fighting type or water type attack, its absolutely easy to OKO tyranitar. and being immune to psychic means jack shit with so many weaknesses...
@@Brockbuiltmore lol switching exists just if you don't know. And precisely, ferrothorn and tyranitar are exceptionally good at switching into moves that it isn't weak to and do its things(tyranitar Lil bit worse but ferro do that A LOT and IS GREAT, never fell down from top tier for a reason) saying a thing like this is like saying rayquaza should be allowed in ou standard play because it gets ohkos by [insert whoever] ice shard lol
because people aren't the ingame ai, we know to switch, also the best pokemon at fighting ferrothorn is magnezone, and even then ferrothorn can survive one hidden power fire (more if in the rain) and get up spikes. tyranitar sets up the best weather, pursuit traps, has great bulk (it can even special hits its 4x weak to, etc)
I disagree with Tyranitar being number 1 as while still very strong there are other Pokemon that can defeat it. The rest of the list I can agree to some extent. Other honorable mentions I would give not including the box art legendaries or legendaries with BST over 600 are Hydreigon (which was really powerful before Fairy-types were introduced), Metagross, Haxorus, Cobalion, Krookodile, Bisharp, Chandelure, Braviary, & Scrafty.
Late, but it simply just the most versatile pokemon in the tier. Same way clefable will be almost no.1 on gen 6. It kills latios(huge) and keep the entire tier from descending to rain hell. Hydreigon's fine, but it's only niche is destroying rain stall which is not the mist relevant lately. Metagross fell off(still in the tier though only niche was rockboom) haxorus fell off due to kyurem black being in the tier, Cobalion fell off in viability in favor of the meta evolving and it can't keep up. Krookodile is uu. Bisharp is uu. Chandelure is uu. Strong but simply not even close. Scrafty is for what I recall ru(simply can't keep up with all the above) and braviary is nu(simply just bad lol). Power isn't everything in a game like pokemon. Kyurem black was ou with that monstrous stats due to the lack of physical ice STAB. But if you really wants power eanking, latios and keldeo(should be higher tbh this pony is an annoying one) are probably at the top.
@@Gspoink While some points can be justified on your comment, I did clearly state NOT including any legendary or mythical Pokemon with a base stat total over 600. So the points on Keldeo yes justified literally but not the others as they have BST over 600. Also I know 100% that power isn't everything in a game like Pokemon and that this list is exclusively for Generation 5 only. Including Mega evolution in your Cobalion comment means that you're including Gen 6 and beyond which has its own different stories and battling techniques as well as the Fairy type being added.
