- Joe Columbo recently achieved his 1,000th training win.
Joe has been a leading trainer several times here at Harrington Raceway and at Bally’s Dover!
Congratulations!
In addition to milestones and track records this Fall Meet at Harrington Raceway, there have also some special races recently we’d like to mention.
The half mile oval was the setting for a race that honored Delaware’s Secretary Of Agriculture Michael Scuse, who is a big fan of horse racing and an equestrian himself.
This trotting event was won by Chex Check and we want to thank Secretary Scuse for coming out to the track to join us on this evening.
Harrington also hosted a Memorial Race recently that honored Richard “Popeye” Moyer.
Popeye was a much loved and respected long time Delaware Harness Racing employee and horseman. Friends and family of Mr. Moyer joined the winner Deebo Hanover in victory lane.
Also, we would like to thank the Delaware Equine Council for having a special night here at the track. The Delaware Equine Council promotes and enhances all things equine in the First State through education, communication, and advocacy. They are a wonderful organization, and we are so glad several of their members came out to present a blanket to A-T’s Hanover in the winner circle and joined us for an action-filled evening!
Another very special memorial held recently at the Kent County half mile harness track was for JD Dennis. JD was not only a well-respected and talented horseman, but he was one of the most influence people in the First State Standardbed sport and a driving force in the success of Delaware harness racing. JD was incredibly loved by his peers and many horsemen and women and friends and family, including his wife Nellie Ann came out to present a blanket to the pacer Cowboy Cargo for this special win.
