This is a junkview of the HOTRC CT-6A 6-channel transmitter and receiver. It's (fairly) inexpensive, and boasts some nifty features. But does it do enough?

thats why I settled on flysky gt3b. I really enjoy that radio
Nice seeing the Colonel again. Perfect analogy.
I'm picking up what you're putting down.
You've had me sold on the RG4S for a while. Especially when you can get 1 Tx with 3 Rx for around $100 shipped
Definitely my favorite radio too ❤
Oooo... I had that Airtronics radio. It's gone somewhere now, but I loved the look of it.
BTW, the Airtronics wheel could be swapped around for left handed use.
HAPPY SATURDAY CANYON COMMUNITY 😎😎😎😎😎
you as well
This is going to be my First upgraded Controller .
We shouldn't have to sand sharp edges for our own comfort but I guess if you already own one that might be an option. Also maybe some kind of tape or padding would help. 🤓
Great review as the saying goes somethings you don't skimp on, your tires are the only contact the rig has with the road the radio is the only contact you have with the rig buy a good one! as always thanks.
As an experiment, would you be willing to try an aircraft radio system on a crawler? Been doing this for a while and it's kind of awesome for a crawler. I've even got third among a field of 10 club racers in the 21.5buggy class with a plane radio.
I don't split the throttle stick down the middle but use a switch to activate discrete mixes for forward and reverse.
The throttle control off idle with a plane radio and mixes set up this way is otherworldly. Works so good!
I haven't tried it but I think in a rear steer truck you could use the left stick for the rear axle steer and the right stick for the front axle steer and really great control. Want to set that up eventually but haven't gotten around to getting another front axle.
Oh, and for the buggy obviously I split the throttle stick so I have some braking action in the lower third of the throttle stick and then throttle for the upper 2/3rds
A lot of those dudes over in Europe never adopted the pistol grip-- the first time I saw a guy driving with dual stick I was like... what? Crawlers are actually probably really well suited to stick controllers, I just have this idea that I would 100% NOT be able to do it. I have too many years of muscle memory, and I think this dog might be too old to learn that trick. I couldn't even get the "real reverse" on the 1080 G2 to register in my brain. Reverse is push forward. That's how it works.
@@CrawlerCanyon I'm sure you could do it! But yeah if it's not broke don't fix it and all that. Just be interesting to see someone not plane biased give it a try. I've been flying RC planes for over a decade so it kind of made sense to give it a try on surface vehicles. Turns out I really like it! Lots of good and cheap plane radios out there.
Now i wanna see a Megahertz crawler, all old junk, that old mhz radio, just because!
Also i wonder if i can swap my GT5 intoa an 18650 poweredradio, i do have an 2s lipo for it tho, built in lvc in the batt
The battery tray in the GT-5 is small, I'll give it a hard... maybe. IME the GT-5 has some kind of parasitic drain in it, so I had to run AAs, or in the case of the single remaining GT-5 in the fleet, leave it battery-less until it's being used, as it will pull a fresh set of cells of dead flat in 2-3 weeks, just sitting on a shelf.
@@CrawlerCanyon True, its tight. IT does have some parasitic drain, and i am so paranoid that i always remove batts when not in use. ONce, i dont know what happened, i had left batteries in it, turned off, drained them empty and the remote had forgot all the cars and settings i had put in it, only 3 cars so i wasnt all out of luck, a bit annoying.
Better or worst then a spektum Dx2e
Probably very close to the same. All of the Spektrum OE radios are what I would consider "terrible." I almost said except for that bottomless one, but I remembered that's a Tactic, the TTX200. That one borders on decent. The CT-6 was I guess irredeemable, because it's the only radio tested that I actually returned. I just didn't like it at all.
I have question. Do you think that radiolink 4gs is.good for indoor racing 2wd buggy. Is latency slow... Or should I go with a futaba. How big of a difference is there.
There's a video out there of someone doing a side-by-side slow-mo comparison between an RC4GS and a Sanwa MT-4S. The difference is something around 15ms. If you think fifteen milliseconds is worth several hundred dollars, I won't stop you. I don't think I've ever noticed perceptible lag on a transmitter ever, and I've tried a whole lot of 'em.
I think your only risk taking an RC4 to indoor racing is being judged by the radio snobs, which will all have $500+ in their hands.
@@CrawlerCanyon I've been using a Spektrum rugged. which seems ok. the touch pad is horrible. I took your advice and bought the rc4gs..and love it. I'm selling the Spektrum. they all give me that smug look at the track. I bought my son a Futaba 3pv. seems better than the spektrum and 100 bucks on Ebay. I might just use the radiolink. I'm still racing my Kyosho rb7 which they all turn there nose up. I just built a 2wd tlr 3.0 sct for this year's indoor racing.
@@CrawlerCanyon I saw that the radio says 15v but the receivers only go up to 11v and the minis are 6v. I run the minis on 7.4 and they seem fine. Am I missing something?
@@mclarenf115 When I first got into the indoor buggy racing I had the flysky G7P for my drift car and the 3PV for my 2wd buggy. The 3PV was solid but the drift car on the G7P would glitch out and get twitchy servo on the tandem nights. Now I have a 4PM I got used from the track and it's been good for both the car and buggy. The main reasons to consider a 4PM or 7PXR/10PX over a 3PV are the additional features (of course). On the 4PM, I slowed my steering servo down to smooth out my driving, the 4PM has an ATL thumb button to dial in more or less brake without the need to go into EPA and I'm using the ABS function to let me run higher brake without it upsetting the car. So all that to say, if those extra features sound good, check into the mid range Futaba/Sanwa. I saw a 4PM in the consignment cabinet last week going for $200. I've seen one or two guys at my local track running RC4/RC6's and doing well. Whether the latency and supposed glitching of the Rc8 is fixed will depend on the youtuber you're watching. I have yet to see someone using those at the track. It's mostly Futaba, some Sanwa, and a few Nobles
Thank you for this! I nearly bought this but will stick with FumboRC i think
On a side note, are you the guy from Z Reviews? (Audio Reviews) you sound the same haha 😂😂 ❤❤
This is the radio I have been most disappointed with in recent memory. They did just about everything wrong. Any aftermarket radio needs to be better than the radio that came with the RTR, and this one certainly wasn't.
What portals do u have on that Ecto
The only part of that rig that's Ecto is the body. He's AR45 portals paired to an Amazon dig box, haphazardly shoehorned into an Injora skid-forward LCG chassis.
@@CrawlerCanyon looks bad ass lol thank u for the reply
Maybe this radio is suitable for JunkBot?
This is a great controler for a trx4 with a 12 year old using it
I couldn't get past the ergonomics, and if I had, I would have been halted by the lack of proper endpoint adjustment-- they're both dealbreakers. The search for the competent sub-$50 radio continues.
It's a shame it's not a better radio also......
Just a friendly reminder that I'm the guy that wants the leftover parts from Zobazu.
I too suffer from old man brain lol
I am wondering what parts come with it? And any other info you can give me on it.
Iv sent you an email
Thank you very much mate
so much negative energy in your body to the point triggering another issue for health. just throw this transmitter to me if you don't like 😂
The only radio I've ever returned. It was in the box and on it's way back to Amazon before the video was even live. Just a terrible radio. Worse than what we expect to get in an RTR.
