My cousin stole her car back. The "new owner" called the cops on her, my cousin had her police report and paperwork on the car. The new owner and the original thief went to jail instead.

My bike that me and my dad had driven up to Belfast to buy, which I had cycled for over six years got stolen a month after I brought it up to Dublin. I had been living here for two years so I thought I was pretty street smart. I always parked it under a CCTV camera at work. A month or so of me happily cycling around the city and some utter bastard stole it. I got back late and had to go to the nearest Garda station. I reported everything. However making my way home later I saw the bastard cycling my bike. I nearly caught him and murdered him but he cycled away. While I was looking for it, I met a mechanic who tried to help and long story short we. recently moved in together. I miss my bike but at your lowest point good things can happen. (I may even thank the thief for introducing me to my soulmate if I see him again but I will castrate him afterwards)

Exactly. My partner often says he is glad that my bike got stolen because he had been trying to figure out a way to ask for my number and talk to me when I had asked him to fix my bike before. Although he is clear that he will throw the thief into the Liffey after expressing this. But he ended up building me a kick-ass bicycle after two months of dating. He also bought me a heavy duty lock😂. Really like your videos, if you are ever in Dublin I am a bona fide city guide and we'll give you a tour. Bike thefts are on the rise here in Dublin city so a story like this is a great thing to hear.

When me and my friend were 7, her bike got stolen. Cute-ass little bike with a Winny the Pooh bell and everything.
Of course us being the little smarty pants detectives that we were, we went looking for this thing.
Lowe and behold: we actually found it in someone's jard, whent and got her granddad and he straightup walkes over to it, slings it on to his shoulder and we all walk off in to the sunset. it was amazing. i seriously remember feeling like such an utter badass :P

I think you're gonna love this story I have. Back when my uncle was a kid here in Spain (so, Franco's dictatorship? Very much a thing), he got his bike stolen. He went to my grandfather, who was a moderately famous sports commentator (in fact, my father doesn't sign with his real last name cause they get them confused, what with them having the same name). My grandfather was furious and he complained to the super they had. The man told him he hadn't seen anything at all. So, my grandpa takes my uncle up to the police station to describe the bike. The cops take my uncle's description but they don't care too much when the sergeant recognizes my grandpa and says "You're Miguel Ors!"
My grandpa says that yes, he is indeed himself. The officer answers by saying "We'll solve this immediately!" So my grandpa, my uncle and a cop hop into a police car and start driving around the neighborhood. At one point, the cop saw a bike and asked my uncle if it was his bike. My uncle was about seven or eight years old and he must've mumbled a "yes".
The cop hops off the car, sees tha bike has a padlock, he goes back to the car, gets a set of steel cutters, gets rid of the lock and hands my uncle a bike. To this day, no one is sure if my uncle actually got his bike back, but hey, he got one back :D

there is a speacial place in hell for people who steal bikes! (not meaning people who steal their own bikes back to, of course.) something similar happened to me when i was a kid. i had painted my bike neon pink & green (yeah, i was that kid) and i left my bike locked in front of my friends house in a quiet neighborhood for like hour or two, and someone stole it. about a month later me and my friend saw my bike (it was definitely my bike, no one else had a bike with a crappy neon colored paint job). luckily it only had a very crappy lock that we just twisted until it snapped and that's how i stole my bike back.

That is great you got your bike back! I lost my bike when I was working summer school. It was a pimped out bike with cushion seat. I parked it inside the gates of the front entrance. I had a shinny long chain and I layered it. Someone actually clipped it before I went to lunch which is under 3 hours and rode off. The chain was on the floor, clean cut. Bike stealers has no sympathy from me.

Yo, I have a similar story to this but with my iPod.
Back in 2011, in my Junior year of high school, I had this iPod that was my pride and joy and that I just gotten for my 16th birthday. That might not seem like a huge extravagant gift, but to me it was everything.
I was in science class and it was finals week, the teacher asked us put all of our electronics phones iPods everything into this basket before the final starts. After the final, she tells everyone to come up and collect their items, the problem with that is it didn't have everyone's name on it and she did not hand out each item by itself. So I'm the last one to collect my iPod and it's gone.I was so angry at the teacher that she let this happen and I knew who took it. A kid a week before complained that his iPod was stolen and I knew it had to be him. So I track down this kid I fucking search him make him take off his shoes and everything. Turns out he handed the iPod to a friend to hold when you saw me coming.
And of course next thing I do is go see the dean of students (Best motherfucking dean of the school). I told him my iPad was stolen and I know for a fact who took it. So he called his kid in to his office with me in there and searches him. Lo and behold he had my fucking iPod. This motherfucker kept saying it was his, so the teacher asked the name of a song on the iPod.
I went to a very diverse school this kid was obviously a kid who did not listen to heavy-metal. He played a Pantera song and he asked the name of the band. And he said something like Green Day, and then he asked me the name of the band I said it was obviously Pantera. The iPod was bloody purple covered in rainbow stickers that said gay pride all over it.
That kid got suspended for the week and that teacher had gotten a lot of trouble too. She's a shitty teacher anyways. Little victories are the best kind of victories.

So here's my fun bike story: It was hard rubbish week (IDK if you guys have this? But basically it's when you can put your broken furniture or whatever out on the kerb and council workers will come around and pick it up and take it to the tip) and out the front of my neighbour's house I spotted a pretty fancy looking racing bike in the middle of a pile of old pool hose and broken fence pailings and whatnot. Never one to turn down anything free, I wheel the bike into my yard and my boyfriend and I check it out. Aside from being covered in dust and the rubber on the handlebars being perished it's in perfect working condition. So we put my broken bike I never rode anyway out the front where the racing bike had been and I've been happily riding my new racing bike since. I even went out and bought some pink and green spoke beads for it because I never had them on my bike when I was a kid and I'm still bitter.
Fun fact, we looked up the model of bike and found out that it retails for $1100 new. Who throws out an $1100 bike?

Well done! A bike is a sacred piece of transportation technology! DO NOT STEAL!
I had a similar (recurring) problem when I was a kid, from a family of cleptocyclists. My family had 5 bikes stolen by the same family, who lived in one of those corner lot houses where you can see the whole yard from the public right of way, and they'd just leave dozens of bikes in their yard, probably trying to sell them. After we saw what we suspected was my bike (it was super generic, so we couldn't be sure) we started marking our bikes with random numbers and putting identifying features on them, like neon stripes and the like. As much as I would like to say we stole them back, alas, we simply got the police involved and the people ended up getting arrested for their thievery, which had been an ongoing problem, and was only given solid enough evidence by our documentation of our homemade serial numbers. Never had another bike stolen in that neighborhood after that, either.
