    To Patrick Edward Murray; Sir,to answer your question about the pipes, the Scottish and Irish people are of common stock, our culture, customs,and music is so similar, it can be difficult to find a line that separates the two,at one time, there was a Gaelic kingdom called Dalrieada,that encompassed Western Scotland and Northern Ireland, those were Irish soldiers, playing Irish bagpipes, or as they are called in our culture(s), the war pipes. The bagpipes have been played in Ireland just as long as they have been played in Scotland. The Irish have a long history of piping. As a matter of fact, the winner of last year's World Pipe Band Championship was an Irish band, The Field Marshall Montgomery Pipes and Drums of Belfast, and not too long ago, The St.Lawrence O'Toole Pipes and Drums of Dublin took the top prize.

    Irish are Celtified Iberians, Celtic culture in general is Iberian. We in Georgia (Iberia) still use old forms of bagpipes, we have 2 bag pipes Chiponi and Gudastviri made with leather bag and horn and couple of Hornpipes without bags, we also have flutes called Salamuri. There are still many Iberian words in Irish, like Nana how they call their grandmothers, it's purely Georgian (Iberian) word for mother and sang by mothers in lullabies, we also have chants for Nana (Sumerians also had goddess Nana). also word "Siul" for walk, it's "Siarul" in Georgian and "UL" in Megrelian (west Georgian) and so on... Even their Name comes from Iberia - Hibernia (Hiberni means Iberians in plural in Georgian) Iver - Iuer to Ir or Eir. No Name you’re not Irish tho, you’re American. You may have some Irish ancestry, but your 100% white American, benefiting from all the privilege that entails. A black person born and raised in Ireland is more Irish than you’ll ever be, not trying to be mean but that’s just the way it is. People in Ireland just consider you American. Because Europeans in America just assimilated into “whiteness” they lost all their culture. Now because they don’t have one they pretend to be and have cultures from their ancestors but really have no cultural link or understanding of what it’s actually like to be from there. I’m not proud I’m Irish, I’m happy and grateful that I’m Irish. I and everybody else in this world have no control or choice of where we are born, you can’t be proud of something you have no input in. Instead of pretending to be Irish, why don’t you try and fix white America by making it less racist and hostile to immigrants like your great grandparents instead of pretending to be from another country. No hard feelings mate

Do you actually know or understand the terminology of what Highlands are? they are areas of high ground classed as small mountains or extremely large hills which are inhabited by non lowland people, basically highlands are large hilly areas with great plateaus which people still live in and on. Well done for making yourself look very ignorant though!! maybe it would be a good idea to talk about something you know about rather than gibbering on about something you clearly know nothing about! all mountainous regions are technically highlands if you wish to be pedantic about it.. Mark Kavanagh there’s no such thing as “Irish highland dress”. Yes there are the highlands in Donegal but Highland Dress refers only to the traditional Scottish Highland dress. The “kilt” isn’t traditional Irish dress, it was only brought in by Padraig Pearse in the 20th century. The item of garment that preceded the kilt was indigenous to Ireland and spread to Scotland where it then became the kilt was. The Scots are descended from the Irish and a lot of Irish people in the North are descended from Scots, so many will where Scottish Highland Dress. There is literally no such thing as Irish Highland Dress. There is the Scottish Highland Dress which has been adapted to Irish colours such as the traditional saffron which the original garments were died.

    The Irish War pipe had only two drones and was always played into battle by the Irish both Rory o'moore and féach McHugh o' Byrne went to battle behind a piper
    Well known fact the pipes found after the battle of culloden in Scotland had only two drones aswell both countries have a long tradition of using the pipes for war

    • @RichardDCook
      @RichardDCook Рік тому

      What's interesting is that our earliest images of Highland pipers show three drones, but the two tenors were in a common stock. Yes there are old pipes, impossible to date, in museums with only the two tenors, but we can't know whether or not they originally had a bass drone too. The problem with the ancient Irish Warpipes is that none survive, so we only have etchings and paintings. These show a bass drone and a tenor drone in a common stock, in other words not the same arrangement as the early 2-drone Scottish Highland pipes. Also these images show a bagpipe much larger than the Scottish Highland pipes. Such bagpipes survive in France, the grande cornemuse.

      @thenextshenanigantownandth4393 6 років тому +2

      The mustured yellow is not Scottish infact the kilt was invented by an Englishman in the 17th century , the irish wore an irish garment called a leine which the kilt was based on . and two drone bag pipes arent scottish they are just associated with the scots now .the irish have been playing bagpipes for centuries it was outlawed by the british after the defeat of the clans .

    • @MrVipasana

      John McCassidy Your entire reply/comment is nonsense. Actually do some research before you spout crap. They are different garments. Kilt originated in Scottish highlands. It is now adopted as a symbol of Celtic indie toy and brotherhood, and so it is worn by other Celtic nations and groups. It was also not invented by an Englishman. There is a story (not really a theory) that is not backed up with any evidence (in fact there is evidence that shows the story to be false) that an Englishman factory owner located in Inverness Scotland ADAPTED the Great Kilt for his workers. But it’s just a story, and the even if it were true (which it’s not) it was only an adaptation of an existing garment.
      The only thing you got right is that solid saffron is the kilt color of the Irish military.

    What is the meaning of the man stepping forward and then back towards the end?

    • @misanthropicanti-humanist5794
      @misanthropicanti-humanist5794 5 років тому +2

      In pipe bands, (on parade) a piper cannot salute while playing (Obviously both his/her hands are occupied.) This would be an informal rehearsal, but even so, your man takes a step forward out of rank and resumes rank formation as a "played salute" to the camera... In any other setting, this is not allowed. But you'll notice the troop is all idle, not marching, not moving save for idle tapping of feet from the leader and some others moving softly. On parade, and under the watch of a pipe-major, one may only "play-salute" if ordered, similarly, a "rank-salute" may be ordered where a front rank takes a step forward in time, then resumes formation while playing... (Thought this would shed some light regardless of how old the comment...)
