Hey Scoot! I'm new to your channel and an avid EPIC listener! So glad you got a chance to hear this great musical! For the cyclops saga, i recommend the following: Polythemus - mircsy Survive - mircsy Remember them - wolfythewich My goodbye - mircsy (wolfythewich has more views, but mircsy's animatic has better visuals and emotion imo)
I kind of wish they'd be more creative with Eurylochus' design. It's kind of jaring for him to basically look the same while Odysseus always looks different depending on the creator for the animatic.
You did it in the right order yes, the reason the show starts off immediately in the middle of war is bc the musical is about the Odyssey which follows Odysseus the general in the Trojan war. The rest of the musical will follow him across the story of the actual Odyssey rather than the Trojan war
Also adding on: yes he did kill the baby. It’s not shown really but just heavily implied through the rest of the show as he grabbles with his decision to kill the baby

@@Scootxhell ya!! this musical is based on The Odyssey by Homer, which is based in Greek Mythology :) Jorge, the creator, wanted to write a musical that felt like a video game. That was part of his inspo for the musical’s vibe! He found most of the cast through TikTok auditions!
also a way to remember eury and polites names: eurylochus is the voice of reason, while polites is the voice of optimism, so for eury: you-really-cussed. and polites is literally just polite with an s lmao
2:42 he was attacked by a mysterious figure who transforms into an eagle, the patron animal of Zeus. Zeus shares with him a prophecy of Odysseus’s future.
'he keeps talking about this Penelope, bro' and I do not think it's spoilers to say he's gonna keep doing that lol. Odysseus is the definition of a one woman man haha!
Not sure if anyone told you, but the musical is based off a Book most people read in high school, called The Odyssey, but you dont need to have read it. Like how Hamilton was around Alexander Hamiltons history. Its Greek Mythology!❤
Even then it is loosely adapted to The Odyssey, Jorge took a lot of liberties with the source material and personally I think he made the right chase doing so
For animatics, I recommend Gigi. Their animatics are really good and it is Greek mythology. More specifically, the story of the Odyssey which follows Odysseus and his journey home from war.
I was wandering why Scoot didn't do Gigi's since he did version with most likes. Well, it turned out since Gigi yesterday released the updated version of first two songs she also deleted the original version
I love Gigi’s animatics, but also glad that other animatics like Rochi’s might get some more time to shine while the reuploaded version is racking up views. Lots of other talented animators in the Epic community
The person who sings Odysseus (the main guy) is actually the creator of Epic The Musical, Jorge Rivera-Herrans. He’s a very talented composer, song writer and singer. And yes, he did drop the baby. This is a musical retelling of the Odyssey. (A story of the Greek hero Odysseus and his journey home after the Trojan War) I don’t want to say too much because you’ll learn the more you listen.
The characters look mostly the same across different animatic because they are based on the people voicing them and a few descriptions by the creator (who is the man voicing the main character as well as the main composer and creative voice behind the project)
Yessss!!! One of my favs musicals 😊 Just to answer questions: This takes place after Trojan war as they try to get back home He did kill the child cause Zeus said he needed to Polites is the nice guy and Eurylocous is Odysseus's second in command The main singer is Jorge Rivera the maker of this musical The last song was a flash back to when he first met Athena which may be a bit confusing if you didn't notice There are 5 sagas out now I think each with 4 songs Greek mythology is what this follows the gods we have seen in this saga are Athena and Zeus. I recommend learning about just the 12 major gods In Greek mythology just so you know them when they arrive but it's not super important if you don't want to.
Everything you just said is absolutely correct, but there are actually six sagas out now. Act 1 of the musical is complete with the five sagas being; troy saga, cyclops saga, ocean saga, Circe saga, and the underworld saga. Act 2 just started with the release of the thunder saga, which is the sixth saga of the entire musical. There are three more sagas that have not been released yet for act two before the musical is complete.

Jorge Rivera herrans decided to make the musical into two acts with act 1 having five sagas and act two having four sagas. In total the song count is supposed to be forty songs. Jorge sings the main character Odysseus, the lotus eaters and the cyclops in the cyclops saga, but he modulates his voice to fit the character of the cyclops. The other voices are the people he cast through either the Tik Tok auditions he held or by already knowing them personally and they are all amazing and talented people. The characters that you have met are sung by the following people: Teagan Earley: As Athena Luke Holt: As Zeus Armando Julián: As Eurylochus Jorge Rivera-Herrans: As Odysseus Steven dookie: As polites Jorge wrote produced and made the entire musical himself. He is a genius and hardworking man.
I love epic the musical so I wish you would react to more sagas. It’s incredible. Every saga is incredible. I wish you would continue this journey and I know that you will enjoy it
Mortius and CF Entertainment are good reactors. They created a co-op channel called open arms reaction or OAR purely to react to Epic the musical stuff. And yes its named after the song open arms and yes they got permission from Jorge to do so.
YES! THANK YOU SO MUCH! Next, you'll react to the Cyclops saga. People have posted playslists in the comments. But react to Mircsy's Polyphemus and Survive. Then Wolfythewitch's Remember Them and My Goodbye
YES BOY! I LOVE THIS! Please continue Epic! Do it in order is all that matters to me, please!!! Other musicals are 'Ride the Cyclone' 'Heathers' and 'Be More Chill'. Thank you Scoot!!! Yes, he did kill the baby in the end. I really like the 'full speed ahead' and 'open arms' songs
I’m so happy with the choice in animatics for the first two. I love Gigi as much as everyone else, but it’s so refreshing to see other artists be recognized for their efforts on the first two songs!! Wolfys “just a man” and “warrior of the mind” are actually some of my favorite animatics out there, along with anniflammas “ruthlessness” and “there are other ways.” Love you’re reactions, and am excited to see more 🫶🏼
16:54 I’ll give as much info on Epic as I can in this message. There’s a good chance I will be repeating what others say and some others may have more information, but I’ll break it up in categories to read it easier. Be prepared for a very long comment. Story: Epic The Musical, created by Jorge Miguel Rivera Herrans (also known as Jay), is a loose adaptation of the Greek Epic called The Odyssey which was written by Homer. This follows the story of a man trying to get back home to his wife and son following the Trojan War, and the consequences of his actions. Our main character’s, who is voiced by Jay, name isn’t revealed until later in the story so let’s call him Nobody* for now. This is a loose adaptation which means the story takes beats from the original work, however storylines are altered and characters in the story have more or less relevance depending on what the story needs from them at the time (I.e Polities having a bigger role) in the story. The Musical is currently just a concept album with each of the arcs being broken up into “Saga’s”. Sagas were inspired by works such a Dragon Ball Z which did something similar with story lines. Much of the story and songs have been teased on Jay’s social media as well as the process behind the musical. In order these are the Saga’s: What is out as of now: Troy Saga 🐎 Cyclops Saga👁️ Ocean Saga 🌊 Circe Saga 🌺 Underworld Saga 💀 Thunder Saga ⚡ --------- What’s to be released: Wisdom Saga🧠 Vengeance Saga🗡️ Ithaca Saga 💜 The tagline of the show is “Ruthlessness is Mercy Upon Ourselves” (which I interpret as: if you start a job, finish it so you don’t have to face the potential consequences” -------- Characters: There are a whole host of characters in Epic, however there is something important to keep in mind with each character we see. Every character we see and has a name has an instrument and/or a sound associated with them. I will list out the character we see in the Troy Saga as well as their associated instrument: Nobody*: Guitar (Nylon string during emotional moments, Electric during moments of cunning and tactical action Eurylochus: Nobodys* 2nd in Command The Voice of the Crew: Eurylochus is a special case as he doesn't have a particular instrument associated with him and instead is highlighted by the voices of the crew members that often sing with him Polities: Nobodys* Best Friend Marimba (At least im pretty sure from my memory) Athena: Ticking Clock Piano (She might have another, but I can't remember at the time of writing this essa-i mean comment) Penelope: Nobody’s* Wife Viola Telemacus: Nobody’s* Son ???? Brief Note: The Gods Have some pretty fun powers that are named that get displayed musically and others that are more visual that Jay envisions such as: Athena Abilities: Quick Thought: The ability to have a full conversation in the span of a couple of seconds (Warrior of the mind is entirely in Quick Thought) Way to tell: When you hear the clock and a shift, there is a good chance a character is in quick thought (We will get to see more in the later sagas and especially song 38 King) Projection: She can send projections of herself to another location or to cloak to seem invisible Way to tell: When there is a "reverse chopped vocals", the very beginning of Warrior of the Mind musically does this before the piano comes in. Where it almost sounds like the music is being reversed or slowed down. ???????? Abilities: Shatter the Ocean: This God creates a giant version of themself to wreck havoc Way to tell: I am unsure musically how to pin it down, however Jay has talked about this ability of their’s on his tiktok. The line "It's the final crack, we're bout to break the ice now" may be an indication if I were to speculate. ------------------------------------------ Music: EVERYTHING IN THE MUSIC MATTERS, lemme explain. Jay filled Epic to the brim with motifs, lemotifs, story beats that are encapsulated by music, every.single.little.detail is done for a reason. The characters are associated with instruments which means when they are in that song their instrument will play with them, this also means when you hear their instrument with them not singing it usually means they are in that song in some way, just being represented by their instrument. (Athena in the very beginnng watching Odysseus in Horse and the Infant with a ticking clock, and another character down the line in the Circe Saga). Mortals in this story have natural instruments, however Gods and godly power/magic have synthentics woven into it. The more synthetic the song is, the closer that character is to divinity (I.e the last song of both The Ocean and Thunder Saga). Gods also as an aspect of their divnity can summon vocals to sing with them, they don't need to be physically there like Mortal need to be (such as the crew singing the background in full speed ahead vs Warrior of the Mind when the background sings "Athena"). THERE ARE BOSS BATTTTTLES. Jay is a lover of games including Kingdom Hearts and Final Fantasy, thus there are boss battles when Nobody* and the crew face a challenging foe. You can know when the song is a boss battle when the chorus at the beginning of the song sings the boss's name. (See Ocean Saga and Cyclops Saga and God Games for examples). The Danger Motif is a chord progression that signifies danger is near. The best example is in the first song after Nobody* yells "Attack" and the violin plays until he gets stabbed and the song continues, that chord progression will sneak into SO many moments that you may not realize till multiple listens. You will often hear motifs from other songs pop up multiple times throughout the Saga's, keeping this in mind will better help understand moments on a deeper level and even show character progression in some cases. -------------------------- Background: Jay has been working on Epic since 2020 following his musical "My Heart Say's Go". He has outlined every step of the creative process on his youtube and tiktok. Jay posted about Epic on Tiktok and it gained a following very fast, then he did something that would endear him even further to those who supported. Jay held open auditions for the characters on tiktok, anyone could duet a small snippet of the character they would audition for and try their hand at the character. In his words: "When I say that 'anyone can audition' I mean that ANYONE, regardless of your age, gender, location in the world, anything - can audition. 'But Jay I'm 100 years old?' Thats totally fine. 'But I live on the other side of the planet!' That's totally okay. 'But the character is a different gender than I am!' Thats great! You can still audition! Listen if we hear your voice and decide that your voice i the right fit for the character, we will do everything in our power to make it work regardless of the circumstances. So if there is a character you really resonate with, audition. You never know what could happen." (Tiktok 10-24-2022). Jay would receive thousands of auditions and the cast was picked. Often during animatics you'll see similar designs in the characters, that's because most of the time they are modeled after what the actor who sings them looks like. For example so many depictions of Polities have glasses and curley hair because Steven Dookie, the one voices Polities, has that. Epic's has been through many rewrites and there are many cut songs and moments during songs that have been rewritten and alot has already come out to see what's been changed (Isamarus, Man of the House, Olive Tree, Peramides, Cut version of Monster, Hades instrumental for God Games and many many more) We don't know what the future of Epic holds after all the Saga's come out, however Jay has been interested in many mediums for the show such as a broadway production using elements from Circus Solei, a movie or animation, etc. ----------------------------- Other: Jay is a very down to earth goofball. Often making jokes and making light of this project such as his "Who" video after the Underworld Saga was released. He is a very genuine person and many fans care for him because of it. He wrote the entire show along with the music, he has those who help him now mix and master as well as a legal side, however the show is his creation. The cast of Epic is extremely close and often comment on each others posts on tiktok. Jorge recently as of this comment put out a video where he shouted out the cast and crew's other works aside from Epic. The fans are commonly referred to as Winions (They are also the creatures/Lotus Eaters you saw in Open Arms). Jay is also known as Mr. Jimbo Pimbo, Mr. Jorgy Gorgy, Mr. Jalapeño both by himself and fans. When a saga drops usually he will have a release party and have a special live stream of the new saga which include commissioned art and animatic from the fans who create animatics such as Wolfy the Witch, Gigi, Mircsy, Scilla, etc. I highly recommend either listening to or reacting to some of the behind the scenes content and videos from Jay, it's genuinly fascinating how everything came together and you really get to his personality. Epic is a musical and is very special, from the community to the process, so much time and love is poured into it. I really hope you enjoy the ride. ---------------- If you read all the way to here thank you so much, i apologize it was so long. If there is anything I got wrong or need to clarify please let me know. I hope this helped you, and anyone who needed it, out.
It's so scary how on point you are in doing reactions to things that I'm searching 24/7 (like reactions for this musical!) I will always love greek mythology or anything set in it. And Open Arms is my favorite from this first part, i can't stop singing Polites' chorus 😊
It starts off at the ending of The Trojan War because its an adaption of The Odyssey by Homer - his work about how the war starts is The Iliad, which is essentially the precursor to this. And... Yeah the baby dies, ha. Also, he's documenting the entire process of writing and producing this musical on TikTok and UA-cam, including casting and lyrics. The voice of Odysseus is Jorge Rivera-Herrans, who also is the writer and composer.
Yesss! I didnt expect this but im so excited! Especially for you to get to the Troy Saga. People often compare this to Hamilton because the creator wrote it himself! Please continue!
If you noticed during The Horse and the Infant Zues sings "The gods will makr him know." While Odysseus sings "Make his past never known." Very chilling
Athena is the goddess of wisdom and war strategy. Odysseus is essentially her favorite little soldier that she molded into a hero. It ties into why Poseidon really dislikes Odysseus later on, the two gods have a long lasting rivalry since the story of Athens (long story short, Athens needed a patron god and Athena showed Poseidon up by gifting the citizens an olive tree while Poseidon gave them rivers of salt water, useless because they couldn't drink it)
Penelope, the girl Osysseus ( MC ) keeps mentionning is his wife and his a simp for her lol and also very loyal to her ;) and he also has a son called Telemachus mentioned in the first song ^^
the person from tangled that you were thinking about was varian, his voice actor is jeremy jordan his voice is amazing and he voiced lucifer in hazbin hotel
The artists base the designs off the singers which is why the designs stay consistent- Polites is the one who’s got glasses all the time cuz of his actor PS this is based off the Odyssey but you don’t need to know the story to enjoy or fully understand it, like Hamilton PSPS it’s Greek mythology and the musical makes a few changes from the Odyssey for the sake of story and interpretation
Epic reactions are some of my favourite to watch, so glad you're doing this!! Yes 'the horse and the infant' is the first song, it starts at the start of the odyssey which is the end of the trojan war for context, the illiad covers the 10 year trojan war pretty much but this follows Odysseus from Homer's the Odyssey
Hi! I have a playlist on my channel dedicated to Epic the Musical in order and it contains the animatics that I recommend. The reason being most of them are connected story-wise, like Gigi’s animatics and Mircsy’s.
For the Cyclops Saga I would recommend Polyphemus - By Mircsy Survive - By Mircsy Remember Them - By WolfyTheWitch My Goodbye - By WolfyTheWitch Polyphemus/Survive and Remember Them/My Goodbye are both pairs of songs that work very well with a consistent style and theme from the first to the second song.
Yes, this is the first saga. Prior to this Odysseus and his men had fought in the Trojan War for 10 years with no fatalities, now they are trying to return home but will face many trials along the way. and yes his two higher up in command are Eurylochus and Polites. Regarding the baby, it's never made explicit tbh, but it is implied he did it. Wrt Greek mythology the only gods we see in this saga are Zeus in the form of an eagle trying to make Odysseus kill that baby before it grew up and killed everyone he lived, and Athena, the goddess of war, strategy and wisdom. Athena and Odysseus have been working together since he was a boy and passed a test she put down, that's why he's so successful as a general. He is a warrior of the mind.
LESGOOO! I would absolutely love for you to react to these. I was recently introduced to EPIC this year. And it gave me a different perspective to musicals. So in order: Troy, Cyclops, Ocean, Circe, Underworld and the recent Thunder Saga. Everyone favors animativs from Mircsy, Anniflamma, Wolfy the Witch, Gwendy and many more talented artists.
I really love Epic so when I heard you were reacting to it in stream I was excited. For the first song, its well known for the Trojan Horse. The greeks hide in the trojan horse and sneek in. So this whole musical is based on greek mythology, The Odyssey
You have found a rabbit hole, my friend. Welcome to the chaos! If you plan on going through all of the sagas, I _highly_ recommend looking back on Gigi for the first two songs. Their depiction of Odysseus plays a huge role in an incredible animatic down the road. I also recommend the creators keeping with Mircsy (specifically for the next saga’s first two songs), WolfyTheWitch (last song of the next saga), Ximena Natzel, Anniflamma, and Crashite (later on). Just make sure all the ones you pick out are finished. Some are posted WIPs.
that guy in the sky in the first song was Zeus. the little dude are called winions. its Greek myth and the other dude in the 4th song is Polites. Hope this helps! :)
Epic is based on the Odessy an epic of Greek mythology It follows Odysseus and his crew trying to get home after the Trojan war The horse and the infant starts inside the infamous Trojan horse
There's so much to love about Epic! My favourite detail is how every character is represented by a different instrument (Odysseus/Guitar, Athena/Piano, Eurylochus/Backing Vocals from the soldiers, etc)
Scoot you could watch the animatics, but they re released the first couple sagas with new vocals so it’s like more up to date than the earlier animatics.
as you go through the musical a few things to look out for: - each character has a specific motif in an instrument - there are rules when it comes to background vocals, the gods can just create their own choir, but for the other characters, there has to be another being there to add as background vocals, for example, the crew, or the lil creatures. - can you find the danger sound?
Usually for the first song everyone uses the animatic from Gigi, and I love it, but I'm so glad you used this animatic. It's my favorite, but unfortunately no one uses it for the reaction
I would love to see reactions to the other Sagas! So far the ones fully released are the Troy, Polyphemus, Ocean, Circe, Underworld, and Thunder sagas. Each have 3-5 songs each and Thunder is the start of Act 2, so about half is released. Lately they’ve been coming out every two months, with there being a hiatus after the first couple partly due to the creator getting sick. He’s also shown snippets of future stuff thru tiktocs/shorts.
5:40 YES. YEEEEEES YES! The way I got ESTATIC! when I saw Wolfy's "I'm Just a Man", people won't often react to that specific animatic, but is so beautiful
Yes, Odysseus drops the infant. His second-in-command is Eurylochus. Eurylochus represents the whole crew, so he's never allowed to demonstrate more wisdom than the mob would have, unfortunately. Polites, on the other hand, is the one soldier ready to set down his spear for good. Odysseus starts the story emotionally close to Polites (they are best friends) but he has to balance the naivete of Polites against the pragmatism of Eurylochus as he navigates their path home. This emotional journey is the real story being told, as Odysseus tries to make sense of his life as a warrior of the mind. Many of the animatics are cartoons of the actual singers, hence the consistency from artist to artist. Wait until you get to the other sagas. They go hard.
Yessss oh my goodness I’ve been obsessed with this musical please do the Cyclopes saga next!! My personal favourite animators are Gigi and wolfythewitch!
Ok, here's a little recap, I hope it answers all your questions ^^ : Even though Jay (the writer and voice actor for Odysseus) changed a lot of details, this musical is based on the Odyssey, an epic from Greek mythology : hence the full name of the show "EPIC : the Odyssey Musical". It tells the journey of Odysseus, King of Ithaca and Athena's (goddess of wisdom and battle strategy) disciple, who after spending 10 years in the Trojan War tries to go home with his 600 hundred soldiers and friends, and go back to his wife (Penelope) and son (Telemachus). But on the way home, they're gonna face a lot of obstacles (I don't want to spoil you anything so I won't go into any details) and the trip that was supposed to take a few weeks ended up being years long. The two other important characters in Odysseus' crew are Eurylochus, his second in command and brother-in-law, and Polites his best friend. Anyways, don't worry you got them in the right order ! So far, 6 out of 9 sagas are out (Troy, Cyclops, Ocean, Circe, Underworld and Thunder) and if you ever have a doubt you can find the order of the songs on the author's UA-cam/Spotify/etc official pages, his name is Jorge (Jay) Rivera-Herrans. I can't wait to watch your reactions to the rest of the show !
The first animatic is pretty and great art but there is a Playlist with animatics, that explain more detailed what's going on. This one could be confusing for people who never heard the songs or know the Odyssey
I would recommend looking for the playlist in order to watch the animatics because I feel like those are the more popular animatics especially by Gigi or wolfy
welcome welcome! i can't wait to see you react to more of this musical! as far as picking the 'right' animatics, going by high views should serve pretty well. however there are some animatics that are not the full length of the song, or that use audio from lower-quality pre-release tiktok clips, so you may want to do some checking or get a second opinion. alternately, there are playlists that pull a selection of animatics together in order. i'd recommend ToastyMadness or Jasper the Hybrid's playlists. if you do want to pick out animatics yourself but want someone to check that they have the right/full audio, i would be happy to help.
Not sure if anyone mentioned it but if you want to listen to any of these songs or the next one (The Cyclops Saga) there's new recordings of them since the creator isnt getting any royalties from the first iteration. It has some updated vocals and backing which honestly I like a little bit more than these. Jorge Rivera-Herrans has the playlist under is name on YT and they have updated cover arts :]
Both of the musicals you’ve reacted to happen to have the lead being played by the person who made the musical, and EPIC has a lot of Hamilton inspiration in it. So glad you’re reacting to this tho
Its worth knowing your listening to the old versions of the songs on some of these animatics. A couple months back the rereleased the troy and cyclops saga with fully redone audio. Theyre similar but the wuality id leaps and bounds above in some songs, especially in cyclops. Id recommend at least listening to those versions on your own time.
The fluffy things from Open Arms are called Winnions. It’s a combination of the words wind and minions. Anytime you hear that kind of tiny gremlin voice in the chorus, that’s a Winnion. It’s also the name for members of the Fandom so ✨Welcome✨fellow Winnion. Side note: the writer for the musical plays Odysseus (Main Character)
Fun facts that I’m not sure have been mentioned- The creatures you see have been nicknamed Winions, and are the fandom mascots Each character has their own instrument. I’ll only list the characters you’ve met so far. Odysseus- guitar (the type of guitar depends on his mood), Athena- piano, Eurylochus- the crew. The gods can summon choirs, but if a human is singing the background vocals have to be those around them… Meaning his crew joined in on the question “When does a man become a monster?” Odysseus is the king of a Grecian state called Ithaca. Penelope is Odysseus’ wife, and Telemachus is his son. He and his men have been away from home for ten years, and are finally making the journey back. Polites and Odysseus have been best friends since childhood Athena has been his mentor for half of his life, pushing him to be an emotionless, perfect soldier, but Odysseus saw her as a friend through the literal years they’ve been together Athena can hop into his mind whenever she wants for conversations, whether he wants her to or not
Omg I’m so happy you’re reacting to this!!! EPIC is amazing, truly one of a kind. The musical is based of off the Greek epic, ‘The Odyssey’ following the adventures of king Odysseus of ithica. So yes it’s Greek mythology. If you do another reaction,(which is hope you do) the next saga is the cyclops saga and the only suggestion I have as far and animatics is to watch mircsy for the first two songs of that saga since they go together Ahhhh so exited for you Scoot, you’re gonna love all of it!
Context for the events: After 10 Years of War, Odysseus hatches a plan to end the Seige of Troy by using a wooden horse as trap to sneak soldiers into the city. The ploy works, and the Greeks seize the city. As Troy burns, Odysseus is given a vision from Zeus of Astyanax, the Son of Trojan Prince Hector, killing Odysseus and his family. Odysseus is given a choice: Kill the child before he can grow up, or spare him, allowing the gods who supported Troy to tell the boy of his origins, ensuring he will take revenge on Odysseus. Odysseus, torn between his honor and his family's safety, tosses the child off the walls of the city. The war now over, Odysseus and his army of 600 men must sail home to Ithaca, but food supplies are low, and they must find supplies soon, or they'll starve. Their detour, however, may prove to be the beginning of their sorrows- This is Greek Mythology, and yes, Warriors of The Mind is accurate: Ody was Athena's Student, and she helped him become a legendary general. By the way: the Singer, Jorge, is also the Writer, Producer, and Director of the Musical.
2,000 likes next saga??? 👀
The siren one.
Also the next musical should be Descendants.
19:58 There's Greek and Norse mythology.Athena is from Greek, she is the goddess of war and she is the warrior who doesn't have any relationships at all.Ares is also the god of war.Greek has Athena,Zeus,Hera, Hercules, Aphrodite,Ares,Poseidon, etc.
Norse mythology is with Thor,Loki,Odin,Freya,Frigga.

Btw the voice actor for Odysseus (the main character) is the composer of the entire musical :D
If you have doubts about the order of the songs, you can search the musical's wiki and you will see the order of the sagas and songs
Hey Scoot! I'm new to your channel and an avid EPIC listener! So glad you got a chance to hear this great musical! For the cyclops saga, i recommend the following:
Polythemus - mircsy
Survive - mircsy
Remember them - wolfythewich
My goodbye - mircsy (wolfythewich has more views, but mircsy's animatic has better visuals and emotion imo)
The reason the character design for some characters look so consistent its because they are based on their voice actors
Gotta love when animatic artists often do that, watched Hamilton animatics and it's awesome

I CAN’T BELIEVE IT, HE DID IT, PRAYING IT’S GOING PAST THE FIRST SAGA
I can tell you right now it for sure will
@@Scootxhell ya!! this musical is based on The Odyssey by Homer, which is based in Greek Mythology :) Jorge, the creator, wanted to write a musical that felt like a video game. That was part of his inspo for the musical’s vibe! He found most of the cast through TikTok auditions!
@@Scootx The fact I watched the first half of EPIC today and I find out you're watching it is so cool ngl ur awesome
Yesssss I'm OBSESSED WITH THIS SERIES 🤩 THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR THE REACTIONS ☺️ @@Scootx
names to make stuff easy. MC = Odysseus. Glases = Polites. Second-in-command = Eurylochus. And yes the baby is dead. Oh and lotus is basically weed
also a way to remember eury and polites names:
eurylochus is the voice of reason, while polites is the voice of optimism, so for eury: you-really-cussed. and polites is literally just polite with an s lmao
Lotus Flower = Weed and you can't quit it 😂
2:42 he was attacked by a mysterious figure who transforms into an eagle, the patron animal of Zeus. Zeus shares with him a prophecy of Odysseus’s future.
After the wisdom saga you are so right though 😂😂
'he keeps talking about this Penelope, bro' and I do not think it's spoilers to say he's gonna keep doing that lol. Odysseus is the definition of a one woman man haha!
The TRUE wife guy!
Not sure if anyone told you, but the musical is based off a Book most people read in high school, called The Odyssey, but you dont need to have read it. Like how Hamilton was around Alexander Hamiltons history.
Its Greek Mythology!❤
oh ok tysm!
Even then it is loosely adapted to The Odyssey, Jorge took a lot of liberties with the source material and personally I think he made the right chase doing so
People read the Odyssey in high school? Damn, I missed out 💔😭🙏
@@sokokokoko same 💔😭🙏🏻

@@Scootx 😭 what can I say, I love me some musicals
Sameee
For animatics, I recommend Gigi. Their animatics are really good and it is Greek mythology. More specifically, the story of the Odyssey which follows Odysseus and his journey home from war.
I was wandering why Scoot didn't do Gigi's since he did version with most likes. Well, it turned out since Gigi yesterday released the updated version of first two songs she also deleted the original version
@@appleblossomstar oh!! That makes sense.😔
I love Gigi’s animatics, but also glad that other animatics like Rochi’s might get some more time to shine while the reuploaded version is racking up views. Lots of other talented animators in the Epic community
wolfeythewitch is also good!
I was so sad when I saw the first 2 weren't Gigi 😭
5:30 omg Varian! I can totally see how that VA, Jeremy Jordan, reminds you of this but sadly Jeremy isn't in this musical, at least not yet
yes thank you thats his name!
This is the first time I saw someone not use Gigi's animatics for the first 2
Yessss!!! One of my favs musicals 😊
Just to answer questions:
This takes place after Trojan war as they try to get back home
He did kill the child cause Zeus said he needed to
Polites is the nice guy and Eurylocous is Odysseus's second in command
The main singer is Jorge Rivera the maker of this musical
The last song was a flash back to when he first met Athena which may be a bit confusing if you didn't notice
There are 5 sagas out now I think each with 4 songs
Greek mythology is what this follows the gods we have seen in this saga are Athena and Zeus.
Also the fate of the infant is supposed to remain ambiguous until the underworld saga.
@@KoriTheAnder really? My bad I thought it was like context clues for people to notice he did it
5:25 You are probably talking about Varian (Jeremy Jordan) and you probably didn’t realise but he voiced Lucifer in Hazbin Hotel
YEAH VARIAN!
The characters that you have met are sung by the following people:
Teagan Earley: As Athena
Luke Holt: As Zeus
Armando Julián: As Eurylochus
Jorge Rivera-Herrans: As Odysseus
Steven dookie: As polites
Jorge wrote produced and made the entire musical himself. He is a genius and hardworking man.
I love epic the musical so I wish you would react to more sagas. It’s incredible. Every saga is incredible. I wish you would continue this journey and I know that you will enjoy it
No worries, I will!
7:58 and it is in legend and in epic Odysseus drops the prince of Troy from the castle walls in front of his men and the citizens of Troy.
FINALLY SOMEONE REACTING TO THIS MUSICAL LET'S GOOO SO EXCITED!!!
You’ll be happy to here there are plenty of reactors who have done this and caught up
Mortius and CF Entertainment are good reactors. They created a co-op channel called open arms reaction or OAR purely to react to Epic the musical stuff. And yes its named after the song open arms and yes they got permission from Jorge to do so.
There is literally a ton💀🙏🏽
10:45 his name is Polities!
W recommendations
Yess I’m so happy you are reacting to epic the musical they have a lot of great songs although the musical is not finished it is still very enjoyable
You have the best first time pronunciation of Eurylochus out of any UA-camr I’ve seen react, so kudos dude
Story:
Epic The Musical, created by Jorge Miguel Rivera Herrans (also known as Jay), is a loose adaptation of the Greek Epic called The Odyssey which was written by Homer.
In order these are the Saga’s:
What is out as of now:
Troy Saga 🐎
Cyclops Saga👁️
Ocean Saga 🌊
Circe Saga 🌺
Underworld Saga 💀
Thunder Saga ⚡
---------
What’s to be released:
Wisdom Saga🧠
Vengeance Saga🗡️
Ithaca Saga 💜
The tagline of the show is “Ruthlessness is Mercy Upon Ourselves”
(which I interpret as: if you start a job, finish it so you don’t have to face the potential consequences”
--------
Characters:
There are a whole host of characters in Epic, however there is something important to keep in mind with each character we see. Every character we see and has a name has an instrument and/or a sound associated with them.
I will list out the character we see in the Troy Saga as well as their associated instrument:
Nobody*:
Guitar (Nylon string during emotional moments, Electric during moments of cunning and tactical action
Eurylochus:
Nobodys* 2nd in Command
The Voice of the Crew: Eurylochus is a special case as he doesn't have a particular instrument associated with him and instead is highlighted by the voices of the crew members that often sing with him
Polities:
Nobodys* Best Friend
Marimba (At least im pretty sure from my memory)
Athena:
Ticking Clock
Piano (She might have another, but I can't remember at the time of writing this essa-i mean comment)
Penelope:
Nobody’s* Wife
Viola
Telemacus:
Nobody’s* Son
????
Brief Note:
The Gods Have some pretty fun powers that are named that get displayed musically and others that are more visual that Jay envisions such as:
Athena Abilities:
Quick Thought: The ability to have a full conversation in the span of a couple of seconds (Warrior of the mind is entirely in Quick Thought)
Way to tell: When you hear the clock and a shift, there is a good chance a character is in quick thought (We will get to see more in the later sagas and especially song 38 King)
Projection: She can send projections of herself to another location or to cloak to seem invisible
Way to tell: When there is a "reverse chopped vocals", the very beginning of Warrior of the Mind musically does this before the piano comes in. Where it almost sounds like the music is being reversed or slowed down.
???????? Abilities:
Shatter the Ocean: This God creates a giant version of themself to wreck havoc
Way to tell: I am unsure musically how to pin it down, however Jay has talked about this ability of their’s on his tiktok. The line "It's the final crack, we're bout to break the ice now" may be an indication if I were to speculate.
------------------------------------------
Music:
EVERYTHING IN THE MUSIC MATTERS, lemme explain.
--------------------------
Background:
Jay has been working on Epic since 2020 following his musical "My Heart Say's Go".
In his words:
"When I say that 'anyone can audition' I mean that ANYONE, regardless of your age, gender, location in the world, anything - can audition.
Epic's has been through many rewrites and there are many cut songs and moments during songs that have been rewritten and alot has already come out to see what's been changed (Isamarus, Man of the House, Olive Tree, Peramides, Cut version of Monster, Hades instrumental for God Games and many many more)
We don't know what the future of Epic holds after all the Saga's come out, however Jay has been interested in many mediums for the show such as a broadway production using elements from Circus Solei, a movie or animation, etc.
-----------------------------
Other:
Jay is a very down to earth goofball.

If you read all the way to here thank you so much, i apologize it was so long. If there is anything I got wrong or need to clarify please let me know. I hope this helped you, and anyone who needed it, out.
YEEEEESSSS I FUCKING LOVE THIS MUSICAL!!!
It's so scary how on point you are in doing reactions to things that I'm searching 24/7 (like reactions for this musical!)
I will always love greek mythology or anything set in it.
Jorge was also massively influenced by Lin
most charakters are based on what their singer looks like irl :D atleast in most animatics
If you noticed during The Horse and the Infant Zues sings "The gods will makr him know."
While Odysseus sings "Make his past never known." Very chilling
The artists base the designs off the singers which is why the designs stay consistent- Polites is the one who’s got glasses all the time cuz of his actor
PS this is based off the Odyssey but you don’t need to know the story to enjoy or fully understand it, like Hamilton
PSPS it’s Greek mythology and the musical makes a few changes from the Odyssey for the sake of story and interpretation
I’m so glad scoot did this musical it’s insanely good
YESS EPIC! (still on the ad, but im already hyped since i LOVE this musical so far)
WINIONS WE GOR ANOTHER ONE!

Glad you’re reacting to some more musicals! Be More Chill would be another great one! I’d love for you to see the “More than Survive” animatic!
I'll try my best to get to everyone's suggestions
For the Cyclops Saga I would recommend
Polyphemus - By Mircsy
Survive - By Mircsy
Remember Them - By WolfyTheWitch
My Goodbye - By WolfyTheWitch
Polyphemus/Survive and Remember Them/My Goodbye are both pairs of songs that work very well with a consistent style and theme from the first to the second song.
Btw that “Bad guy” in the first song was Zeus
The saga order:
Troy Saga
Cyclops Saga
Ocean Saga
Circe Saga
Underworld Saga
Thunder Saga
I really love Epic so when I heard you were reacting to it in stream I was excited. For the first song, its well known for the Trojan Horse. The greeks hide in the trojan horse and sneek in. So this whole musical is based on greek mythology, The Odyssey
The Voice for Odysseus (The main Character) is the guy who's writing the whole musical: Jorge Rivera-Herrans
Epic is based on the Odessy an epic of Greek mythology
It follows Odysseus and his crew trying to get home after the Trojan war
The horse and the infant starts inside the infamous Trojan horse
a new reaction series of my current obsession? you best believe im binging this
Im loving this so much. Instant sub
There's so much to love about Epic! My favourite detail is how every character is represented by a different instrument (Odysseus/Guitar, Athena/Piano, Eurylochus/Backing Vocals from the soldiers, etc)
Im so psyched youre checking this out. Please do the other sagas. also i think that was a nylon guitar in Full Speed Ahead
Scoot you could watch the animatics, but they re released the first couple sagas with new vocals so it’s like more up to date than the earlier animatics.
as you go through the musical a few things to look out for:
- each character has a specific motif in an instrument
- there are rules when it comes to background vocals, the gods can just create their own choir, but for the other characters, there has to be another being there to add as background vocals, for example, the crew, or the lil creatures.
- can you find the danger sound?
Usually for the first song everyone uses the animatic from Gigi, and I love it, but I'm so glad you used this animatic. It's my favorite, but unfortunately no one uses it for the reaction
I’ve never seen these animatics and they are beautiful! I’ve mostly seen Gigi’s and Neal illustrator.
Great reaction!
Totally react to more Epic!
Let’s go!! You’re gonna love this musical Scoot!!
You are on the right track. Cyclops saga is next. This musical is going to stick in your head.
5:40 YES. YEEEEEES YES! The way I got ESTATIC! when I saw Wolfy's "I'm Just a Man", people won't often react to that specific animatic, but is so beautiful
They just released the sixth saga. There's going to be nine altogether.
Especially Gigi for the Circe saga
AMAZING!! I expected you to react to EPIC, hope you like the rest of the sagas ❤❤❤
Ok, here's a little recap, I hope it answers all your questions ^^ :
Even though Jay (the writer and voice actor for Odysseus) changed a lot of details, this musical is based on the Odyssey, an epic from Greek mythology : hence the full name of the show "EPIC : the Odyssey Musical".
Open arms will always be my favorite song
Yessssss!!! I was waiting for you to react to this, such a great musical!! My favorite as of now, really looking forward to more of this from you!
I JUMPED FROM MY SEAT WHEN I GOT THIS NOTIF!! SCOOT & EPIC?! TWO OF THE GREATEST COMBING OML 😭🙏💖
IVE BEEN WAITING FOR THIS
Yess! I wanted you to check this one out too
There's 6 out of 9 sagas out at the moment. Would love to see you continue, cyclops saga is next, then ocean, circe, underworld and then thunder
Id recommend at least listening to those versions on your own time.
so people have probably said this but penelope is his wife and telemachus is his son, yes he killed the baby he dropped it off the wall rip baby
Scoot, I seriously love your reactions. Thank you for the video!
YES IT IS CRONCHY AND PONCHY🦖
The fluffy things from Open Arms are called Winnions. It’s a combination of the words wind and minions. Anytime you hear that kind of tiny gremlin voice in the chorus, that’s a Winnion. It’s also the name for members of the Fandom so ✨Welcome✨fellow Winnion.
Side note: the writer for the musical plays Odysseus (Main Character)
AHHH I CAN"T BELIEVE YOU ARE REACTING TO THIS !!! Can't wait to see you react to Ruthlessness from Ocean saga :]
Shit musicals make me cry so fast. This makes me wanna go back and finish my classic opera degree.
Fun facts that I’m not sure have been mentioned-
The creatures you see have been nicknamed Winions, and are the fandom mascots
Each character has their own instrument. I’ll only list the characters you’ve met so far. Odysseus- guitar (the type of guitar depends on his mood), Athena- piano, Eurylochus- the crew.
The gods can summon choirs, but if a human is singing the background vocals have to be those around them… Meaning his crew joined in on the question “When does a man become a monster?”
Odysseus is the king of a Grecian state called Ithaca. Penelope is Odysseus’ wife, and Telemachus is his son. He and his men have been away from home for ten years, and are finally making the journey back.
Polites and Odysseus have been best friends since childhood
Athena has been his mentor for half of his life, pushing him to be an emotionless, perfect soldier, but Odysseus saw her as a friend through the literal years they’ve been together
Athena can hop into his mind whenever she wants for conversations, whether he wants her to or not
Yup this was the first saga so no worries, great reaction definitely gonna keep an eye out for your next saga!
Yesssss! I've been waiting for you to react to this. The story is so cool and the music is awesome 👌 I hope you enjoy the rest.
Omg I’m so happy you’re reacting to this!!! EPIC is amazing, truly one of a kind. The musical is based of off the Greek epic, ‘The Odyssey’ following the adventures of king Odysseus of ithica. So yes it’s Greek mythology.
If you do another reaction,(which is hope you do) the next saga is the cyclops saga and the only suggestion I have as far and animatics is to watch mircsy for the first two songs of that saga since they go together
Ahhhh so exited for you Scoot, you’re gonna love all of it!
You listened!!!! AHHHHH excited for your EPIC journey 👏🏼👏🏼
Next Saga: Cyclops! LESGOOOOO
Have just recently listened to what has been released. So, this will be interesting now to see.
Their detour, however, may prove to be the beginning of their sorrows-
This is Greek Mythology, and yes, Warriors of The Mind is accurate: Ody was Athena's Student, and she helped him become a legendary general.
By the way: the Singer, Jorge, is also the Writer, Producer, and Director of the Musical.
Scoot you have no idea how much I’ve wanted you to react to epic. WE GOT ANOTHER ONE GUYS!!
