You still look full of beans at the end, I think I would be ready for my bed after that journey, Polmont is a cute station, as it is my destination for visiting family after travelling up the WCML to Edinburgh.
And we also enjoyed your little venture around Scotland as well G, especially that walk along the canal
Great video G. My eldest son lives in Edinburgh and is about your age. Your video made me look forward to visiting him more. Great enthusiasm as always. The world needs more like you.
I'll be in Edinburgh this coming Wednesday for a match at hearts. Not been on a 800 past Dundee yet
Thanks for the video G,great circular route loved the canal and walk through the tunnel!!😎🇬🇧💚
At just 00:26 you created that LOL moment......that's why you're uploads are followed so much.....Informative, funny and give such great ideas for trips. 22k subscribers almost.....early 2025 will be in excess of 75k easily!! Thanks GLT.
Keep the vids coming, they helped me through a particularly difficult time and always make me laugh. Thank You
Glasgow Central is such an iconic station, and I love Edinburgh - I have been there several times, and really want to return one day.
Never been to Glasgow or Edinburgh but it looks amazing thanks for the video it is great 👍👍✅✅
def a brilliant epic circular journey there i like Glasgow central its a lovely station which i used when i spent a day in Glasgow while holidaying in Scotland & i like the ScotRail 385s they are really nice trains & i rode a load of those & thats one of the best things about visiting new places you get to sample trains & tick off TOCS that you dont get to use very much which i find refreshing & i visited Princess St Gardens in Edinburgh & Edinburgh is a lovely city & Scotland has some lovely stations to visit brilliant vlog
Looks like a lovely day out, G! Can’t believe it rained in Scotland, of all places…😂
Good to watch as always G, thank you. Waverley is huge but having been a few times on the RTC Gt Britain tour its familiar now. This year we went to Glasgow Central with 2 Black fives and I was very impressed on my first visit to that station.
Great video, G! A number of thing I'll mention:
Not many Avanti services in the day call at Lockerbie. I believe it's mainly TPE.
Looks like a nice place to walk near Falkirk. I've been through Falkirk Grahamston before but not Falkirk High.
Looks like 385107 is becoming your stalker unit!😂
All Pendolinos have been refurbished now.
On the whole, great circular route!
@@ReecesTrains haha ye they all got refurbished since I filmed this 😂 thanks Reece , and ye I will remember that unit lol
Awesome video once again G. People say that Glasgow hasn’t changed much even know I have been to Glasgow but Glasgow isn’t that bad. It’s just got a bad reputation but it’s also a great place to visit. Edinburgh is lovely and I have been to Edinburgh before.
Great video as usual G! I can tell the intro and the outro are filmed at different times because of the weather
You amaze me how much knowledge you have - love your videos, keep up the good work..
Excellent scenic circular journey 👍
The walk through Falkirk Canal Tunnel looked fun, just a pity that part of the towpath was closed
Great round trip G you do come up with some fantastic routes and good ticket prices brilliant viewing 👏🙂
Great Video G, the Falkirk Canal Tunnel really looks epic and those Class 385s are great units.
There and back , well done G , I paused at Wigan and Glasgow as Memories came flooding back, But That tunnel also reminded me of Chirk tunnel and as you said not as dark, weathers not the best but as long as you kept warm that's the main thing, thundering and lightening as i type, here in Bootle Liverpool, 🌩 have a Great evening G, take care
Very nice vlog G ❤the canal tunnel looked very spooky and it was raining more in there than outside 😅nice to see you enjoying Scotland despite the typical British weather
Great vlog G! It's been a long while since I visited Scotland, you've inspired me to go again! 🚆👍
That looked great fun.
Thanks for sharing.
Brilliant video G, shame about the weather but at least it improved in the end, the Falkirk Canal tunnel looks like a fun tunnel to go through.
Love these videos G interesting and so much to learn you have so much knowledge x
lovely video G thank you for showing us the route and the scenery take care
👏 loved this! Thanks for taking me with you. The exits at Waverley Station can be very confusing - and 😅 steep!
Rain in Glasgow? That’s so rare! 😀
I hope you enjoyed your time in Scotland. Was reminded of your good self when I had to change at Birmingham New Street last week.
You should try Netherton canal tunnel near Dudley. 1.5 miles ad no lights (but there is a hand rail).
Great video G for doing the circular thing from Wigan to Glasgow Central and Glasgow Queen Street to Edinburgh and back to Wigan North Western
Another great video G , great circular video we need more of these circular ones
@@From_Journey_to_Keyboard thanks, I enjoy making them from time to time
Beautiful scenery!
So Fun to ride with you G, despite the rain. The First is such a marvelous train, the others pretty aceptable also. Thanks for the ride 🙏😄
It's not an Avanti GLovesTrain video without the G Coach!
Whether or not that's the correct euphemism remains to be seen 🤣
Another great video. Loved the Falkirk station and the tunnel walk thru. I love the large stations but there is just something special about those small older stations in the U.K. I loved the quick views of Glasgow Central. I was just there a few months ago and stayed at the VOCO Grand Central Hotel. A lot of history with that hotel. I felt like I was just back in Edinburgh when you were walking down Princes Street. I love the Views you get up towards the castle. If you ever have the chance as much as you love flowing water I would highly recommend taking the train from Waverly up to StoneHaven and take the short taxi ride and visit Dunottar Castle. We were there when they first opened and the sun coming up over the North Sea is absolutely stunning at the Castle. Be sure and sit on the right side of the train heading North. Thanks again for sharing and bringing back such great memories. Unfortunately not getting back to the U.K. this year other than transiting thru Heathrow but I get to enjoy your videos and Imagine myself in some of my favorite visited places.
Ah I'm gutted you came so close to my hometown of Linlithgow and didn't stop off for a wander. It's a lovely wee place I think you'd love. I've also done that canal walk many a time - well done for braving the tunnel. Although it looks a lot safer and better lit than the first time I walked through it! The walk from Polmont to Linlithgow is a bit longer but nicer overall I think.
Another great circular route video G and you had three stations with the letter G in 😀
I'm in Edinburgh right now. Love the city
@@GLovesTrains My sister lives in the next town from the Wigan. I use the trains quite a lot when I'm visiting
A great circular route G. Great idea to stop off at Falkirk as that tunnel looks cool. The Scots should tell the Welsh about lighting as, after seeing your Vlog a couple of years ago, I walked that Chirk tunnel and it’s bloody scary. I was holding the handrail and walked straight into some bloke walking the other way 😂 we genuinely couldn’t see each other.
Thanks for this G, I spend my time living in both Edinburgh and Whaley Bridge so my train trips are usually Haymarket-Preston-Manchester Piccadilly-Whaley Bridge and trips within Scotland to Edinburgh-Fife/Stirling/Borders/East Lothian/Glasgow etc. I've only changed at Wigan maybe a couple of times and don't really know Wigan that well.
That fitted the spot like a hand in a glove 👍
What an amazing day out! Hard to believe you can see all that stuff in one day. I bet you scared a few ghosts in that tunnel with your knickers antics 😂
Thanks,the Falkirk Tunnel looked great
Thank you a another great video. Question what is your favourite station. I will be passing through Wigan near the end of August when I will be helping on the Liverpool to Leeds canal race.
Good film . You got lovely eyes 😍 xx
Great vlog and circular journey to/from Scotland G. I definitely prefer Edinburgh to Scotland though.
Lovely vlog G, I use the Trainpal app, seems to default to finding split tickets which is good.
A day trip to Scotland, wowsers! 😀😀😀
Thanks, and ye usually it does a good job but this time had to split them myself 😂
Lovely journey
Awesome Video G Loves Trains 😄😄
Brilliant video, G, in Glasgow and NOT going on the Glasgow Subway???
I've been through the Falkirk tunnel on my bike and on a canal boat but have never walked it. It is very wet in there!
I'm surprised you never went via Dundee. That way you could have gone the circular route and do both Tay and Forth rail bridges as a bonus
@@billmilligan1705 ye wanted do this route this time, have plans to get back up there
Great trip G, but you didn't do the full circular by going back via York! Maybe next time?
I know what you mean G - I went from Leeds to Peterborough on the LNER Azuma for the first time the other weekend on the way for a family visit and the time flies on those too.
Looking for an excuse to travel on the 390s as well to contrast...
@@martinjh999 ye I always find it flies by when you don't want it to and doesn't when you do 😂
clad you like the falkirk tunnel been through there few times clad you didnt know about story about the tunnel . hope you like the 385 units too good video.....
Falkirk Wheel is worth a look and if you like Central you’ll love Wemyss Bay.
@@GLovesTrains Designed by the same guy as did the refurb for Central. He did a few other things round the area but Wemyss Bay station is probably the best. I got a selfie with Geoff and Vicki there a few years ago.
All the refurbishment on the 390 s is now complete and all have been done according to the Rail magazine.
Another great video. The next time your’e in Edinburgh why not jump on a train to the two new Fife Stations of Cameron Bridge and Leven? It’s about an hour to Leven
@@GLovesTrains wish I’d known. I’d have bought you a coffee! I remember travelling on the trains before the line was closed. We could travel right round the coast to St Andrews. Giving my age away here! lol.
A tip for your future travel in Glasgow. I wouldn't walk From Glasgow Central and Queen Street in the rain.
There's a shuttle bus Between the 2 stations.
Or from Glasgow Central low level to Partick. Switch platforms and go from Partick to Queen Street Low level And walk upstairs. Yes it's a bit of a detour. But with a views of the river Clyde and keeping out of the rain. It's worth it.
Plus you can get the train from Partick straight to Edinburgh Waverley.
@@GLovesTrains Remember Glasgow also has the subway. St Enoch is next to Central Station and Buchanan Street is just outside the entrance to Queens Street. And they all stop at Partick. You have so many options it's crazy lol. I enjoy your videos hope you enjoy yourself.
Great vid!
I thought Railcards were not applicable before 9.30?
We have a Two Together card
I looked into this a while back, think its something to do with the price of the ticket having to be over 12 pounds
The £12 minimum fare on 16-25/26-30 railcards doesn't apply to Advance tickets, so G loves trains will have got a discount despite leaving Wigan so early. (and also because of the July/August £12 easement) unfortunately the two together restrictions apply all year round. There's alot for me to remember when working in my ticket office.
As ever great video and nice loop, how did u find those quiet trains, luxury that to have a calm train carriage.
Hey G, my partner and her family took a train journey from Didcott to Betws Y Coed a few years back. A chap sat across from us both ways had his snacks laid out on the table. D’you know what he was eating? That’s right, Rice Crispies Squares! Thing is I don’t think he ate more than one as he slept most of the way there and back. Ah well, im sure those were proper quality sleeps he had. Henceforth we’ve always made the joke when we see Rice Crispy Squares in shops. We pick them up and say ‘let’s take the trahain!’ Or some such. What are YOUR favourite train snacks for the long haul, G? I bet you’re into Poppets!
@@GLovesTrains nice. Did you know Makita make a portable battery powered microwave! You could warm up your pasties on the train and take them to the next level. You could even walk the carriages and offer passengers a pasty warming service. A few years of doing that and I reckon a statue of you goes up at Didcot.
Hey is the video what I said I would remind you about that all of the pendolinos are refurbished now 😄😊 Also another update for you as well I've been on the 805s first class if you want to hear what that is like 😁 great video with typical British weather ☔
@@GLovesTrains once I saw the thumb nail I thought is this the one 😂
It was good, I think the 390s 1st class is still better but that could just be me, the seats in 1st class don't have a readers light unlike standard class which is a bit of a let down and the singular seats don't have footrests like the pendolinos. I did a wifi speed check and it said it was fast which I was impressed with 😊 the windows where great to look out, I could even see a London northwestern train driver was impressed when it pulled out if rugby. The seats are very much like pendolinos you get a charging table with every seat and a plug which was very hidden on the side 😂😅 the knicker hook folds away as well but that may also be a standard class thing as well 😂 it felt like having the train to myself since no one else was in 1st class. The seat reservations were very good as well since it says when you got on and off. So yeah they were good, I was on 805 001 on seat J14.
I've made this a very long review 😅
@@ChristopherPin I loved reading the review, especially the bit about the knicker hook! 😂 did u get served food n drink?
@@GLovesTrains the menu looked very similar to the pendolinos 1st class menu, well the vegan menu was the same any way since that's the option I have which, which is the falafel and orange salad, which is very nice, not sure if you've tried it. Glad you enjoyed reading my review 😊
@@ChristopherPin I had a salad, sounds a different salad tho, but as if its still just a salad we get!!! 😂
I'm sorry you have to endure Avanti West Coast!
I worked beside a guy who would fly to New York for the weekend. Why not?
She is so pretty! ❤
their is no un refurb pendolino also do Cathcart Circle it's fun
i used to travel all over the UK by train when i was younger, unfortunately for my parents (and now my own) bank accounts i graduated to flying 😂
Going up to Dundee from St Helens next week what lovey run across the North West then changing up to the North East of Fife then Dundee
When you do split ticketing for a journey like that, is there any trouble getting the same seat reserved for the whole trip?
You missed the most famous part in Falkirk - the wheel
Is it possible to buy a railway card you got as an overseas person?
Missing one thing- you are saying “bye bye favourite station” which one is that - is it Lancaster?
Great vid G! Notice you had a physical ticket, do you prefer this over digital? x
@@philsher thanks, I do prefer them but in this case Scotrail don't do digital tickets
What it is the camera you use to record outside? 👋
Very good video, but the question is how much money did you save on? Split tickets.
Thank for getting off at Falkirk and going through our spooky canal tunnel!
