Natlan is mostly meso-american and the pacific region instead of africa. I think only Iansan is based on african culture if im not wrong. I dont see the lack of diversity here. Mavuika is literally a nod to Mahuika the fire diety of Māori. And even Xilonen is also a goddess's name from Aztec, the agriculture deity. Natlan being based heavily on Africa was just an expectation ppl had seeing Iansan in the teyvat chapter trailer. I have seen many ppl actually like how their own cultures have provided inspiration. So again what diversity are we missing? (If its skin color then forget it we r never getting darker skinned ones coz its a chinese game wat do u expect.) When Dehya was a bit more light skinned than i wanted her to be and she lacked the muscles u would usually see in a warrior/mercenary like her would (Ghislaine shoutout) i gave up.

Plus, using/appropriating a culture without including the people that live it conveys the sentiment that they want to use the aesthetic of the culture without paying homage or respect to the real people/communities who created and maintain these cultures. They want to use the culture while viewing its people as disposable at best, and disgusting at worst

Pyro Archon is based off a New Zealand story. You can look it up so seems like most of Natlan are actually from lighter skin countries, to be fair. Glad Iansan brings a bit of representation for those who want darker skintone characters
