Holy heck. 100 grand. I definitely can’t believe vapour stopped- soooo many companies have gone under or have been sold off. It’s absolutely insane. And for sure. Back in 2014-16 there was such a different platform and a different aura honestly. I think clean beauty has been soooooooooooo different. What Sephora and ulta claim is clean is not actually clean. I’ve gotten more relaxed over the years about like, silicone and such…. But it’s been so frustrating hearing “clean” but it’s not actually clean.
I KNOW! I learned about that recently in speaking with people in the industry and realized that retail is too expensive for my brand and most brands in general. Yep, it was so different when we were all on here earlier. It was a different space and better environment!
It makes me sick and I am crying because it’s too heartbreaking. Ethical clean brands going out of business and celebrity brands rising. I’m crushed Athr Beauty has to close.
I really look forward to your clean beauty videos. My skin works best with clean skincare and beauty products. I actively search UA-cam for reviews, get ready with me, etc. I'm really bummed seeing clean brands close but I understand the industry issues.
I will be honest the UA-cam guideline or whatever is it has changed over COVID . But the interest for “ clean” beauty has not disappeared. I would like The UA-camrs like you and others that has been in the space for a while to keep doing the same . I am noticing trends like you mentioned , the pressure to stay in the game and getting sponsees or brands shutting down . Ideally I would like to see a trend in the future, where the idea of “clean “ and “ green” is more widely discussed as opposed to being a trend so that it has its own place that it deserves
I've definitely noticed that we don't hear about many brands not at Sephora these days, and many creators I used to watch have left UA-cam entirely. I hardly watch beauty content anymore.
Hi Reagan. This was a really great, interesting & timely video...thank you!! There are so many changes going on out there right now & I think the lines are blurring a bit between clean beauty & "mainstream" beauty. It is sad to see some of the loved brands going away though. I, like you, stocked up on a ton of the TAOS AER deodorant as that has been my holy grail deodorant & I can't imagine anything else in the clean space (or even mainstream products) working as well as that stuff does. And I was really bummed to see Pharmaca go under as well as I had ordered a lot of stuff from them for many years.
Vapour and Jane Iredale are the first clean beauty brands I used. I miss Vapour. I stocked up on their stick foundation since they are one of the few brands that have a good shade for me (120L). I think it is sad to see the good, small brands shut down. I think it all comes down to money. Big brands see money to be made so they want to get in the clean space, even if their products aren't really 'clean'. It must be difficult for these small indie brands and I hope people continue to support them. It feels similar to long time favorite small, local restaurants or stores closing. I'm old and don't have a short attention span problem! I don't see much value in youtube shorts so I hope longer videos are still incentivized. I quit IG years ago and don't have time for Tik Tok. If you want to post more varied videos I'll put in my vote for dog related topics. The more we see your boys the better 😂
I was pretty shocked by Earthwise Beauty closing. I really like supporting smaller brands, because they need our money and support. I can't believe all these celebrities coming out with their own line. Gwen came outta nowhere.
I was so shocked at Earthwise Beauty going under. It was expensive and I live in Canada so I had to pay more because of the American dollar value and then sometimes there was duty but I would look for sales and I am devastated - to me they were the top of the line for clean beauty🥲🥲
Thanks for doing this video. I really miss Vapour Organic. I used the whole line and loved it! I have had a very hard time finding foundation and concealer that I like as much as their foundation stick. I see the brands at Sephora and realize they are not the same as far as ingredients go. I hope someone will start a small brand like Vapour again and I will buy from them. I always like to support creative, small brands but I know that when the brands grow sometimes they change and if the products don't work for me anymore I have to move on. That happened with the new Vapour. I do buy from Ilia and Kosas, but I haven't found anything I really love. Thanks for your content on clean beauty!
Hey Reagan, i think main beauty brands will adopt more pseudo clean beauty items or slightly sustainable practices and eventually edge out true clean brands. Maybe all these clean beauty brands should merge together under one brand, like Credo Beauty which would market all remaining clean brands under Credo and dispense w/ their original individual identity brand. One brand on it's own is not strong enough to make it, and they can't keep coming up w/ new products, but together could provide enough market share and variety to compete w/ an Hour glass, CT, etc. I'm thinking similar to Smashbox that merged/bought some of Becca's products...
It was a very nice video, and an interesting conversation! I too have noticed all the changes in the clean beauty sphere, and it's been fascinating. things are changing and evolving, and there's good and bad about it I feel. It's sad to see brands dissapearing, but it's understandable to see some brands struggling with the market being as it is now. It's interesting to see more mainstream brands do more of an effort into their ingredients, like Sigma for example. And it's also interesting to see how new "clean" brands appear, with not always better ingredients than mainstream brands. I feel like everything is kind of merging together, which...well, I'm not a hundred sure what to think about it, but it could be good if it pushed brands to make efforts in general, but I do worry that we may see really clean brands dissapear in time. We will see what the future holds! And as you said, the budgetary component is also important, and in that regard, Clove and Hallow, did a pratical choice. I've also stopped buying from certain brands because it's gotten too expensive. Thanks for the video!
Honestly vapor had been on my radar since high school, about 8 years now. They’d always been sort of interesting to me, but I never took the plunge because, for reasons I cannot quite put into words, they’re marketing and aesthetic reminded me of my grandma’s makeup 😂😭 just not very exciting and kind of outdated. I think that might have an impact too, not marketing to a younger audience
Hi Lumi, yes, I agree. Their packaging was a bit off, I think they could never get their footing in the new, more forward thinking, clean space. The formulations were nice though!
Would love to know your thoughts on the closing of Earthwise Beauty! I was so shocked to hear about that one because they seemed to still be so popular and have such a loyal following. It was hard to understand why and no one has really talked about it
I'll edit my comment later, Reagan, but I think I have back up of the amber blush palette, if you want it. 🧡 I have all three palette colors, but have been swatched. There's one floating around that hasn't been touched. They are simply too saturated for me. I have kept them for the highlighters, but need to get them to folks who might use them. Oh wow, Arrive has already disappeared? BTW, your face is a bit blurry, and each time you gesticulate the camera changes depth, focus, or something. Have the settings on your camera changed? If the C&H palette has no name on the back, I'll assume it's one you customized, and they sent, or you personally ordered. There were two premade palettes: the Sunrise palette, which replaced their original, and then one called Orchid, with cooler tones. I'm so bummed C&H went away, but understand why. I can't use any of Clover's products, yet, due to ingredients. If they come out with color cosmetics for face and eyes, I'll check them out. I'd like to see some focus put on the companies that are small, and have good products that have been in existence for a while, used along side the newer, bigger brand products. For me there's Gabriel/zuzu luxe, Honeybee Gardens, Red Apple Lipstick, 100% pure, and ones I don't use, but have tried in the past, or saw on shelves, such as Ecco Bella, Reviva, Pure Anada, Mineral Fusion, and others I'm not familiar with. Thanks, Reagan!

I know, it's so disheartening.

Thanks so much for sharing Mary Ann! I will try and involve the boys more, they are more interested in "guarding" the house most of the time though!
@@ReaganHart I have a ten pound guard dog so I understand!
I was pretty shocked by Earthwise Beauty closing. I really like supporting smaller brands, because they need our money and support. I can't believe all these celebrities coming out with their own line. Gwen came outta nowhere.
I do too, I was too! That one came out of left field.
I was so shocked at Earthwise Beauty going under. It was expensive and I live in Canada so I had to pay more because of the American dollar value and then sometimes there was duty but I would look for sales and I am devastated - to me they were the top of the line for clean beauty🥲🥲
From one Creator to another, Hello, I am so glad I found you!!!!!!!❤❤❤❤❤
Hi!!

It’s too though, once they took out the organic i didn’t purchase because I was like ooooh what does that mean for the ingredients 😅

Such a fun and intriguing chat. Thanks!
And I agree that Vapour just lost their steam somehow.
Glad you enjoyed it! Yeah, they just never got there like other brands.
Would love to know your thoughts on the closing of Earthwise Beauty! I was so shocked to hear about that one because they seemed to still be so popular and have such a loyal following. It was hard to understand why and no one has really talked about it
Hi Carina, I don't know why they did too. It was shocking to me as well and I don't think they ever released a reason for shutting down.
omg I loved arrive beauty :'((

Thanks! I'm good with this one, and the others too, just grabbed this for the video. I liked their highlights too!
