Pretty sweet product from Makita. Makes a USB power source more useful. I own an M18 USB power source and ive never used it because ive never needed to charge a USB device at work but having that light i would of used it a ton

Очень познавательно (интересная рассеивающая накладка фонаря), думаю с компактными аккумуляторами будет выглядеть гармоничнее.

A point of interest on Makita USB. Having a 2A+ adapter for Makita batteries is awesome as a power bank, in theory. In practice however, when I got ADP05, I discovered that it has a real bad electronic flaw. When I tried using it with devices that actually do consume proper 2A of current, like fast chargers, or pwm LEDs, it did not provide anything resembling 2A, sometimes not even enough to power up the device.
Upon investigation, I found that high consuming devices with their own digital current limiting, can draw power in a very electrically spiky fashion, and current limiting circuit in the adapter seems to be rather slow to adjust and/or reacting to a momentary current (as opposed to the average for a reasonably short amount of time). A workaround is to plug a sufficient capacitor in series, so that the momentary current and the average becomes more or less the same.
Of course - one could say - a manufacturer of a LED flashlight and of a phone charger, etc. should have a capacitor on their side, so it has a nice and even current draw, however that is not the level of pickiness one would assume of a robust, reliable device, sole purpose of which is to provide power over USB connector.
TLDR - It'd be interesting to see if other Makita USB power sources suffer from problems of ADP05.

To answer my own question - this thing seems to provide 2A charging with no (or at least less) problems.

I have got the older CXT one. ML103. Its a great little thing for working inside cabinets and the like (i'm a furniture installer) Will have to grab both the updated CXT and the LXT one when they are out here in AU.
One thing, (and i guess this is true for any low drain tool) its actually not that hard to damage batteries with them. Because they use so little power a battery can sit at quite a low state of charge for days or even weeks if you dont use it regularly.

Gives me an idea of 3D printing a lense for some of my different lights that don't come that way

2.4A 5V output is disappointing. I would expect basic fast charging on a new product. It would be even better if it supported USB C power delivery so it could charge laptops like the DeWalt USB power source can.

I stupidly hit a screw with mine cutting up some 3 by 2 😡,still it will get me to figure out how to use the chain sharpener!!, not forgotten about the little item iv promised you as well, my next door neighbour works for a builder and they have one of those xgt 80v concrete cutters!!! He’s lending it me to review!! That’s one very expensive bit of kit and can’t wait!! Have you used one? Keep up the good work 🤟🤟

Why do they make the orange light a detachable cover, with no storage space for it inside the lamp ? There are other lamps that let you switch from 5000K to 2700K. Also with 3 intensity they should provide a simple on/off button, or at least keep last setting in memory. No one wants to press 3 times (or 5 seconds) to turn it off. That's the reason why i keep using a DML815, even though lighting isn't broad enough.

  • @allybarton1

This is just another case of makitas lack of thinking. Most other brands have multiple usb a ports and usb c ports for fast charging options. Makita… Shall we give them something good? Keep up with the other brands? Nah let’s take off one of the ports from the old model and give em a crappy light which nobody asked for. Makita always do the bare minimum. Coming from a 10yr Makita user. Oh and just to let you know usb A is also now phased out in Europe by law all new products will have to come with a usb c lead so this charger will be useless in a year or two. Nice work Makita,

What i never find funny, with the new battery from Makita, was that they didn't make the same Idea like hikoki, one battery for all 18-36v and the whole propaganda with the 40v it's just rediculous!!! Nobody buying 40v tools. In all Jobsite areas just finding 18v. Germany England France Greece Italy nobody buying that. We don't have money for new tools.... If someone will have to buy new tools will go direct to Hilti... No money any more no Makita anymore!!!
