Love these videos, the scenery is just incredible. Love seeing the little houses dotted around the countryside, a splash of color in an otherwise black & white landscape, absolutely beautiful, I can just imagine how warm & cosy they must be inside.
How I love an RCG train vid of a cooooolllddd nasty winter day, when I can watch it on a 65" monitor in 4K, while in my living room next to my fireplace ! ..... that's my Saturday..... that's my life........
Great again : from 43mn, magnificent relief of the mountain sides near Dale : nice sides in black and White , shining with the rain, very beautiful aspect contrasting with the snow on the ground, under a white sky Thank you, dear driver, for these graphic photographs
I've watched so many of these I'm beginning to anticipate the stops. I can use this one to go to sleep at night with the sound of the rain hitting the windshield. The Wikipedia entry for Dale has a picture of the train station, lol.
Cathy there's a one meter gauge tunnel in one of these in the Alps that is over 16km long. Its the longest 1 meter gauge tunnel in the world. I wonder how people breathe in that thing? The gauge in Norway is 1.45+ meters... lot wider.
Another video that slipped under my radar. I know I keep repeating myself, but I never get tired of watching your videos no matter which line you are running on. Wow! There’s a big difference in the quality of your videos between the old ones with the GoPro and the new videos with your Blackmagic camera and cine lens! Thanks for a great video, although a little late.
Glad you like them! Yep, I upgraded my camera and equipment, so there's a huge difference between old and new videos. Thanks for watching and commenting!
Absolutely loved this train journey video. I've always loved watching snowy videos and stunning scenery. A shame that the weather wasn't great in this journey from Bergen to Myrdal. Most enjoyable apart from the screeching windscreen wipers. Oooh! 😖🥴 Lol 😂
Rough and beautiful nature of Norway...or it`s just beautiful rough nature...we`re also have mountains, even bigger than the norwegian, but it doesnt looks too harsh in compare. But i liked both, with every single piece of them...the mountains always have a unique charm...
Here a Tunnel, there a Tunnel, everwhere a tunnel. Almost more tunnel than overland. Amazing to see a well maintained rail system and the tunnels will not have been cheap to build/bore.
The headlights on the train when going through tunnels I must say are ineffective. Brightness levels and they do not adjust to the curve of the tunnel (like on car technology). Lovely seeing the pretty country though :)
I often wonder what these people out in the middle of what seems like nowhere do for a living and HOW they get around. Some in the larger villages have vehicles but all I see in many of these are single residences with no apparent roads linking them with anything. Here in the states roads (and vehicles) are EVERYWHERE but rail is mostly NOWHERE. The railway infrastructure is awesome AND all these tunnels... how are they fabricated? How beautiful and quaint this country is. Its a completely different world.
A lot of guards/conductors has been temporarily been laid off. For us drivers.. we have all had our hours cut 15%... and therefor also our salary.. So we're 15% laid off. It has affected us pretty hard... especially since our production peeks during the summer.
Maybe you will like the Flåm railway better, it doesn't have many tunnels and is known for being a scenic route. Here is my playlist with Flåm railway videos: ua-cam.com/play/PLqVXtaI0Orw5NC5deNNkSw-z96dnMNWrJ.html&si=P_mORSASL6Q3D2vQ
In this video, as in many other of these Train Driver's Views, I'm struck by how lonely it seems in this part of the world. Very few people walking around, playing outside, working on stuff ... anything. Even the roads have almost no cars or trucks moving on them. I assume everyone is indoors? Or is this genuinely a sparsely populated region? I find myself daydreaming about what I would do if I were dropped along the tracks somewhere on this route. Could I find my way back to a population center? Could I survive overnight if I had to, maybe by seeking shelter in a tunnel (in one of those little track maintenance alcoves that occur periodically)? Would I meet a hunter or skier who might help me? Kind of fun to think about stuff like this ... 🙂
Yes. The new Ulriken tunnel opened 13th December 2020, and I have a video from it here: ua-cam.com/video/Xni1XZdWY-w/v-deo.htmlsi=74e1W10rrp0CWePW Now they have refurbished the old Ulriken tunnel and it will open in December 2023, when the new double tracks in to the station are done.
I have tried to fight watching one RCG movie after another, endlessly, since I have Other Things I simply Must get done ...... but no, those will have to wait ... 'cuz I am a hopeless RCG Train Video Junkie.......
Climate change doesn't seem to affect your region very (at least) noticable yet, doesn't it? You still have snow in April while in Germany the season of winter almost died completely. Following your videos I notice that you seem to have lots of precipitation in your country. In Germany, long-lasting rainfall is kind of an "extraordinary event" because it doesn't really happen anymore.
Hello, The climate changes are affecting us, and it's started to affecting us badly. The amount of rain and snow has increased. Less snow in the low lands and more snow on the mountains. Erosion and flooding has also increased. We've had more snow in the mountains this year compared to the past 60 years, and they are now truly afraid the combination of heat and rain the mountains will cause extreme flooding...... again. It's affecting us all, but in different ways. :(
Thank you RCG! These episodes is a short escape from these difficult times...❤🇳🇴
Glad you like them!
You inow I thought I was the only one, but the sound of the train and weather and especially the long tunnels puts me to sleep some nights too.
Love these videos, the scenery is just incredible. Love seeing the little houses dotted around the countryside, a splash of color in an otherwise black & white landscape, absolutely beautiful, I can just imagine how warm & cosy they must be inside.
Thank you so much! 😍
I have a lot of mental health issues and your videos are very calming more than any medications are
These videos are so welcome these days, many thanks!! Love and Good Health!!! JB
Great video, thanks for posting. It's amazing how fast it looks and with that scenery. I look forward to more.

The sound recording on this trip was excellent. Worth the screech of wiper rubber over dry-ish glass on some swipes.

What a tunnel in the first 10 minutes!, Rain and snow wowsa! Nice ride along! Thanks, Cathy

I find these videos help to relax with no overbearing sounds, though in a state of super relax the horn can quickly endure a cardio workout.
That's wonderful, thank you so much!

There's 697 of them in Norway. And 2760 viaducts. Wow you wanna talk about railway infrastructure they have it!
Thanks for the ride. Great video 👌

How has the Corona-19 problem effected your operations?

@@RailCowGirl I know every bodies finances are being affected. Stay safe and well.
wow! second comment :) yaay!
Do these trains have conductors in the passenger cars to scan tickets?
Yes
Difficile ! Pas le temps d'admirer le paysage 😂😮

Are there neutral sections in long tunnels?
There is one in the Finse Tunnel, but it's usually with power.
Plz add time in am/pm. Really confuse abt time morning or evening. TQ
Seriously?
00:00 - 11:59 = 12am - 11:59am
12:00 - 23:59 = 12pm - 11:59pm
Scary freakin tunnels. Looks like your going straight to hell 🔥
Lol 🤣 Thanks for watching!
Hi HinduCowGirl. Were you previously (or will in the future be) known as RailCowGirl? Always like this winter cab rides.
HinduCowGirl changed name into RailCowGirl :)

You would not survive a night without propper survival gear. Taking shelter in the tunnels would be your certain end.
@@RailCowGirl I'm not too surprised to hear that. Well ... maybe if I had some Viking blood in my veins, I could last a few hours 😏
Are they digging another tunnel coming out of Bergen?
Icy rain like that would be a wheel slip fest wouldn't it?
Not for trains. the if there is ice on the rail head.. the pressure for the train will liquefy the ice and press the water aside.
How long is the first tunnel
7670m
👏
Why don't you just use the Jedi hand wave to clear the windshield :)
My powers don't work through glass yet :p
💋🐮🤗

C est le pays du cruyere chez toi ??des tunnels partout !😂😂
Lots of mountains in Norway makes a lot of tunnels ;)
El 18 ?
No, Flirt, type 75-2. The EL-18 is used in the regional trains, between Bergen and Oslo (or Ål on my channel).
alors tu décolle ??
I'm the one operating, yes.
Show de túneis 🤔
😅 Lots of mountains means lots of tunnels. Thanks for watching!
funny to see that the bumper in the beginning and the end still mentions the location of the channel as ua-cam.com/users/hinducowgirl.
Yeah, I know :) the video was made before I changed the name. LOL but the new one has the new intro :D
