  • Ever looked at an instrument pick website's ordering page, bewildered by the options? Allow me to take away a little of the guesswork! In this video I explore three different thicknesses from the lineup of Blue Chip's triangle shape picks, (almost) exactly the same in every other respect. (The CT-55 has a SLIGHTLY shallower bevel and more-rounded tip than the standard TAD shape.)
No sound editing was done to this video other than some segment-wide volume adjustments to maximize the entire video's volume.
    Equipment
Mandolin: 2016 Red Diamond, Vintage 24 Voicing, "Grogu"
Strings: Straight Up Strings, medium gauge, 2 weeks old
Microphones: Royer R-122 MkII stereo pair
    Video: iPhone 15 Pro Max

Thank you for this! I ended up buying a Tad 60 based on your demo. They all sounded great but I felt that the 60 had the least pick noise. That mando of yours RINGS! Thanks again!

With your setup and technique the 50 was far superior in my opinion

That’s indeed what I’ve been using almost exclusively of my Blue Chips since this video!

Depends on… a LOT. I think these would all feel about the same because in my opinion tip shape is super important and these are about identical, but it depends on how you hold/use a pick and what you’re trying to do with it to get your desired sound. Sorry I can’t help much!
