These lyrics are a bit butchered and off cue, plz get it right, esp the end of the song: there is no (more) "When I look", it's "Where'd I go", not the same as the verse with "When I look"! That is correct, for the verse earlier, but NOT what is said at the end. NOTE: Some people think it's "When" (as opp to "Where'd") I go", which very well could be too, but bottom line is that this it's a hard one to discern, but only at the very end in my opinion (as said). The tune (seems to me, although I deem it fairly obvious) always has been regarding a general sense of rat-raciness, if you will, to which the writer (Donovan) has lost himself. The atmosphere, the people, the sense of uncertainty, which likely existed in his social setting (esp. his career as a musician), and the things he OBSERVED, are the premise of the song. It gets deeper, but if you want analysis, search an search b/c every human has their own perspective, which the song, incidentally, is about: Perceiving and observing and reporting in a metaphorical language, but that is all music, no?

I hate to criticize (no, I don't), but it seems you weren't very careful about getting it right. Lots of things that are clearly different from what he is singing. I think I would have been stumped on "Beatniks are out to make it rich," so thanks for that.

These lyrics are a bit butchered and off cue, plz get it right, esp the end of the song: there is no (more) "When I look", it's "Where'd I go", not the same as the verse with "When I look"! That is correct, for the verse earlier, but NOT what is said at the end. NOTE: Some people think it's "When" (as opp to "Where'd") I go", which very well could be too, but bottom line is that this it's a hard one to discern, but only at the very end in my opinion (as said). The tune (seems to me, although I deem it fairly obvious) always has been regarding a general sense of rat-raciness, if you will, to which the writer (Donovan) has lost himself. The atmosphere, the people, the sense of uncertainty, which likely existed in his social setting (esp. his career as a musician), and the things he OBSERVED, are the premise of the song. It gets deeper, but if you want analysis, search an search b/c every human has their own perspective, which the song, incidentally, is about: Perceiving and observing and reporting in a metaphorical language, but that is all music, no?
"Sights to see" rather than "sites to see," I think. They are two different words, with different meanings.
After that, what I hear is "That it's strange -- So strange."
And ... I hate to criticize (no, I don't), but it seems you weren't very careful about getting it right. Lots of things that are clearly different from what he is singing.
