I think I caught it in time. CoinopsX was still running today, so after seeing the vids about CoinopsX being delisted from AtGames, I quickly turned off wi-fi, and unplugged the ethernet cable from the back. Looks like I'll be getting a PC for this rig after all, once the PCB goes. Thanks for the heads up.
@@gogeekgaming Indeed. I've been researching to make sure there was a way to keep using the cabinet and dynamic marquee on a PC, just in case. Turns out, we can. The marquee has an HDMI port, so the PC will see it as a secondary monitor. Would just have to run CoinopsX or BigBox on a PC if the worse ever does happen. :)
I ordered my Legends cabinet and the update happened before my cabinet arrived . I had a builder create my SSD drive and USB thumb for the Bit LCD Marquee. On the base firmware . Both installed no problem. No way I’m doing any updates .
I really enjoy your videos and have found them helpful. I am considering buying a Legends Ultimate today during the sale, but I am concerned about what firmware it ships with. I just went on their chat and asked. They said it ships with "Factory Firmware". Can I just not update out of the box and run CoinopsX with the factory firmware? If I have to update to 5.7.0 (He said 5.7.1 is still opt-in only), does CoinopsX work with 5.70? I'm seeing mixed answers to this on forums. Thank you in advance for your help.
Hi I've got a mini ultimate coming in post tomorrow if I need to update can I choose which firmware to install ... and do you need to update to say buy there pinball games ??
As far as I know you can't control which update and I don't know what AtGames is doing in their app store (i.e firmware versions might not matter as they control app store)
I am going to have to seriously reconsider my reservations on the upgrade CPU boards now .. if I am going to spend money now, and there is no way to get CoinOps or something in the future that is like it, then I will just gut the cab and replace it with ARM or x86 parts and be done with it.
My BYOG AddonX no longer loads games, the screen just flashes for a second when you click on the game icons. Also for 1 day my coinopsX wasn't working. I saw where someone mentioned dismounting the coinopsx usb stick, then do the update, then remount it, and now coinopsX is working, but still no AddonX. It takes a few more minutes for coinopsX to load than AddonX, but at least I can still play all of the thousands of games I have on it. I'm going to turn off my wifi on it too so nobody accidentally clicks "yes" on any future updates. I only installed firmware 5.7 because it popped up on the screen asking me to after turning the machine on. No more update EVER for me, I don't care if it says "this will fix coinopsX and BYOG". I'm not taking that chance.
I don't have the Pinball machine but my assumption is it'll probably have similar effects to the ALU but you might have to do some more research or ask AtGames support if possible.
Does that mean that if I buy a Legends Ultimate machine I'm not going to be able to install and run CoinOpsX? Does the initial boot of the machine forces the 5.71 update? I'm new to the whole arcade machine world and would like to install CoinOpsX but this might be an issue..
Does Legends Unchained work for the 5.70/5.71 systems? That works by patching the firmware to allow booting an alternative OS from a USB device. That would allow emulation, although pre-set-up images with game collections are not yet available.
Yes. Without issue from what I've seen on the discord. I wouldn't know as I'm already using Unchained and still running on 5.68 and haven't been bugged about updating since Unchained bypasses all that.
Really wanted to finally bite the bullet and purchase one If i do will it come flashed with the newest firmware or not or is it not worth the risk now?
Is it possible to firmware update these units with a flash drive? Im looking at a used unit with an old 4.4 firmware and I do not want to connect this to the Internet.
Me too but I had coinopsx start with ALU and didnt have too sign in for years now!the only reason I would sign in is for pinball..I prefer fx3 pinball on pc anyway
I recently found your channel. Saw your unboxing of the Atgames Legends Arcade. I was really excited seeing how you reacted to the system. I was scrambling to find an Atgames arcade. Seeing this video really shattered that. I still might consider it if it’s available and the right price. Keep up these great videos! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thx much and yeah pretty sad about this as I really do love this system 😭 I just hope that there's some type of fix or workaround somewhere in the future. But until then, no updates nor connections online.
I have the first generation ALU bought it way back in the beginning. When that now arcade1up bloke David McIntosh worked at atgames. I run my coinops x and everything else I've added with no problem. Why? Because I stopped doing those updates. Haven't done them in years. Bought the cabinet to be able to play every game known to man. And it does. So there was no need to update it whatsoever. If it isn't broke no need to fix it. I'm sure there are many lads and lasses who've done as I have and are very happy they did. Sorry for the lot of you who are affected by this but always ask yourself this. Do I really need to do this update? Especially if my machine is working properly without it.
It might be pressure from companies they want to work with to make future gaming systems with. They're probably not too pleased about workign with a company that lets customers pirate their games for free on another system.
Atgames probably got a legal letter forcing them to do so, but I connect my mini PC to legends ultimate and works great. Coin-ops X is ok but playing steam games is a better experience.
I picked up a legends gamer pro for $163 with shipping and it arrives next week. I just found out the bad news😢anyone know what the stock firmare is when its new?
i have the pinball and was looking forward to the new tables but thats out now i will stick to the old firmware and just use my byog and the new systems are also not going to be bought as well.
I updated to 5.70 the other day, just wasn't thinking that it could cause more issues than fixing, awsome doesn't work, coinop still does, unplugged the network cable and turned off wifi, never updating again
After your last video, I was all set to sell my heavily modified Arcade1UP for an this. However, after this video, I will be keeping my Arcade1UP. AtGames instant loss of a sale.
Can you please do a video on "Legends Unchained?" The issue with CoinOps X is you have to use the interface, the games are not accessible with BYOGX like they were before. One Sauce you could bypass and make your own USB sticks@@gogeekgaming
Great Title Game over This destroyed my pinball game too , joystick option for the pinball is worthless to me. I don’t even want to sell it, it will go in the basement till there’s a solution if no solution soon Booth will be in the burn pit
I updated to 5.70. Based on your previous video, I did a factory reset. Now coinops works, but the option to auto start is no longer available. But you can start it manually. But, my bit pixel is no longer working. The 5.70 fw must have updated the sd card in my bit pixel.
I never updated (still on 5.68) nor did I recommend updating or reset as that doesn't fix the issue as far as I know. Hopefully, there will be some way to fix this in the future for those who upgraded.
Yikes 😳 Ok, QUESTION 👉👉👉 Now, I only acquired my ALU six months ago, and, not being a big modder, I simply built it, used my wife’s PC laptop to download the OneSauce core pack (since it’s the classic arcade games I crave far above anything else), and set it up with a terabyte usb drive. I got it working, THAT’S where I’m at, and I’m good with it. My one BIG🙀QUESTION is: As long as I don’t voluntarily upgrade to the FIRMWARE O’ DEATH am I safe indefinitely? Like, if you want to avoid falling off a cliff… don’t go near any cliffs 😑 Thank you for your thoughtful perspective on this hot mess, man 😌🍷
No problem! For me, I don't update nor do I have it connected to Internet unless it's an update I really want and most importantly, that it doesn't break my system like 5.70+. If you're happy with how things work, don't update.
@@gogeekgaming well I do have the 5.68 firmware ready to go, so hopefully I can just upgrade to that and everything will be dandy. Was too late to cancel, but may not matter if this works.

Yeah I'm assuming it won't work and you can't access on AppX with latest firmware. So consider that it might not work at all before purchasing.
