Love it. I'm a hammock camper. I wondered why I just didn't get the chair debate until it occurred to me one day that I can sit in my hammock in a way that tent campers can't. You're right, of course, when everyone is around the campfire and your hammock isn't, that kinda sucks. But most of the time, a hammock camper just doesn't need it as much. And setting up in the rain under the tarp is beautiful! I'd add that site selection is FAR easier when you don't need level or non-rocky ground. When traveling with a group, I regularly take the worst site because it doesn't matter.
I was sold on hammock camping during my first heavy rainfall in one. I was testing it in the back yard when I knew a storm was coming. That feeling where you are completely safe and dry - and realizing that being in a tent would not have ensured protection from the ground water - was very powerful.
So many great point. I prefer hammock. However I am definitely not quite set for winter yet lol. Need to update my under quilt lol. Just got a new Dutchware hammock set up so super excited about getting that broke in lol. Great vid my friend.
Nice one. I sleep by far the best in a hammock. I even installed hooks in my room at one point 😆I've been curious to try a bridge hammock but I sleep fine in a gathered end hammock. It's more comfortable than my bed in a lot of ways. Since I've been exploring tarp & bivy camping, I've been tempted to pick up a smaller snake skin for the tarp.. but t's not going to be pitched in an A frame all the time so ditched that. Hammocks are wonderful and I wish I could use them more. Out West here there's just not a lot of trees compared to back East and it's often impossible to pitch or not allowed on designated sites. It's a bit more bulky in my pack but the weight difference isn't too different.

Love my GE hammocks. sleep in one almost every night. I'm done with tents unless I absolutely have to sleep in one.
