How has the predator engine and the gear box holding up? I use a predator 420cc for my 4gpm setup and its great. Your setup is exactly what i want to build but i do alot of flat work. Just curious

Held up great! I just winterized. I’d absolutely recommend it as a self-build for someone who’s not quite a beginner but still just starting out. I really haven’t had one problem or complaint.

    How you like the predator

So far so good! Got about 50 hours on it now almost and have had no issues at all.

Nice video. Hopefully you aren't rinsing through the 1.8 injector because you're cutting your flow down by half. The remote bypass systems are worth their weight in gold by allowing you to soap with whichever injector you need then remotely switching to full-flow rinse which cuts time in half. The remote chemical injector box you have is good but when you turn the bleach off, the rinse water is still flowing through the injector at a constricted rate. The entire benefit of having an 8 gpm is to have that flow for rinsing and for concrete. Regardless, nice setup and keep hustling

So yes, with the type of box I built that is essentially just an on/off switch for bleach, I do lose a little bit of flow. It is not an actual injector bypass. The system is still closed when rinsing though, in other words the injector is not drawing anything while I’m rinsing because the valve is closed. I definitely do not lose half of my flow, and I can say that confidently because I know what 4gpm looks like and how long it takes to do things with 4gpm. I would guess I’m throwing 6.5 - 7 gpm when rinsing, not losing any time on a house wash compared to if I had an actual injector bypass. I do however remove the injector for most concrete work, especially on commercial jobs where I need my big surface cleaner.

@@anchorpressurewashingwith the valve you built, when the valve closes the rinse water is 100% flowing through the injector orifice and is restricting the full-flow potential. That is not up for debate. However, if it's enough rinse flow for your business, that's your call.

@@colonialfiend yes 100% I have less flow than if I had an actual injector bypass, and 100% I agree the actual injector bypass would be preferred all things being equal. The substantial difference in the cost between the two is what makes this an excellent alternative for someone just starting out. With the way I’ve built mine, however, the injector absolutely does not suck water when rinsing with the valve closed - It is impossible. If I were to flip the 3-way valve to “rinse” and leave the remote valve open while rinsing, the injector would suck water. With the remote valve off though no, it quite literally cannot draw anything. Once the valve closes and whatever remained in the line downstream of the valve is sucked through the injector, there is nothing left to draw. My guess is the loss in flow and pressure is due to the system not being as tight as it would be with high pressure whips and fittings. Like I said, I estimate I’m rinsing with 6.5-7gpm which on a house wash really isn’t any lost time for someone who the cost difference in the two types of bypasses makes a difference to, if that makes sense. I’ll have to check next season what the actual draw rates are, though. Probably should have done that already 😅

If your injector is in-line between your machine and reel without any bypass then the water is flowing through the orifice size of the injector. That is a fact. Therefore the restriction is substantial. However, if you're going from a 4 gpm to an 8 gpm, the restriction might seem negligible and I agree the price difference between the box you built vs a true high-pressure remote valve is relatively substantial. That being said, the rinse time with a full 8gpm is vastly different than what you're working with now so the cost of a full bypass remote pays for itself in a few jobs as long as you have the quantity of jobs to support it.
To test, just try shutting down your machine, removing your injector then rinse with full flow.
I know the difference as I have one of my trailers with your exact setup. It is exclusively a house wash rig with only a 125 gallon buffer tank so the lower flow is almost a must. It has a predator engine with a GP 2021 pump and has been flow tested at 9 gpm.

@@colonialfiend I don’t know if you’re not understanding what I’m saying, or if I’m not understanding what you’re saying lol. I’m not being remotely confrontational with you, I’m just trying to understand what you’re saying. I don’t see how you can say my injector is drawing water when rinsing if the remote valve is closed..are you saying it is pushing water THROUGH the injector? Like the opposite of what is supposed to happen? I didn’t think that was possible, I thought the injector can only suck one way with the way it’s built…I’m lost 😅
