    I really, really enjoyed this one! Looks like you and the Meteor handled the whole trip like a champ! And the level of production of this video...what can I say, you're a proper content creator Chuck! 👌🏼

    Love the idea of riding a simple, affordable bike that’s both practical and fun to ride. Nice to see the wife riding too. More people, especially women, would ride if they knew they can bypass the machismo, pretentiousness and “testosteronosity” of riding as most encounter biking. You’re doing a nice job of showing what the ride can be. As a 2021 Goldwing owner, I love my bike, but the bikes I most remember were smaller, simpler; the ones that took me to new places with the wind in my face without all the complexities in a simpler time. It’s all about discovery, living in the moment and getting back to basics. Riding the backroads is always the best way to get there. Not sure how a 350 handles semi blast, but I think you’re onto something pretty special. Ride safe.

    At last an American UA-camr who is soft-voiced and doesn't sound like a used car salesman! Candle Lady was awesome as well. And 400 miles on a Meteor in just over a day is not bad going either!

I LOVED the mold and fungi photos at Godolphin Estate. Thanks for sharing. Do you ride? Maybe you could do a video on riding to a location to take some photos! I would totally watch that.

      @@BackRoadBikerChuck I think of you as more of a motorcycle Rick Steves, but with more cool factor. ;) How did it feel pushing 70mph on that one stretch of flats? Did you ever find yourself wanting more power/speed on any part of your ride?

    • @BackRoadBikerChuck
      @BackRoadBikerChuck  2 роки тому

      @@mattlorenzi5606 Wow, excellent question.
      The answer is no. I don’t want more speed or more power out of that bike. It delivers exactly what it promises, and I knew what I was buying. I was looking for a motorcycle to get me on the back roads, up to 65 mph because I just don’t like riding a bike on the highway. The meteor tops out 5 or 10 miles above that threshold. I say if you’re looking for a stronger bike, then go buy a stronger bike. Again, great question.
      Are you bike shopping right now?
      … and thanks for the “cool factor“ comment!

      @@BackRoadBikerChuck I'm strongly looking at the Meteor. Been watching most of the UA-cam vids just for giggles. The other fun channel to watch is EconomicalRides, chap out of Spain. I need to get out to the dealer and try one out. They have them on sale now. I think it's well and powerful enough for me. My first real bike was a Suzuki GSXF600 which was way too much bike for me at the time. I don't subscribe to the idea that all motorcyclists want to go crazy fast - like you, I do the speed limit.
      I have Piaggio 350 scooter which has more power and more top speed than the Meteor, but will admit it's kinda boring. It does what it does well. It's fast, comfortable, lots of storage, great for two-up. I just don't get excited to ride it - thought I would. Probably part of the problem is that there's no engagement other than the throttle. And because there's no "neutral" it's a bit of a lug to push around.

      @@mattlorenzi5606 I know what you mean. I’ve been on bigger bikes over the last 30 years and I really wanted something just a little bit smaller. And I test drove some bigger bikes recently before choosing the meteor.
      My wife has a 2021 Honda rebel 300. It actually outguns my 350 on a straight away. Hers is a six speed, and the Meteor is a five.
      But when I ride her bike, it has more vibration at higher speeds than mine. The meteor feels like it’s designed to be a smoother ride - more comfortable. We joke that, between the two of our bikes, hers is the Lamborghini and mine is the Bentley.

    Yes the bike took it all in its stride by the looks of it, loaded up as it was.some great stops and I'm envious as the temperature and weather conditions here in the UK are just terrible and the bike is destined to spend more time in the garage going nowhere, however I'm improving its luggage and cruising ability with some tasty extras to keep the interest up until conditions improve and UK rides become feasible again. Great Video and shows the meteor to be a great travelling companion!

    Chuck, I recently discovered your channel and really enjoyed this video. It's nice to spotlight places like Angie's candle shop and places to eat, etc. Just out of curiousity, for that 400-mile trip, how many gallons of gasoline did you use? MPG is a big reason for me to consider the Royal Enfield Meteor 350 as the bike I want to buy. Thanks for posting this great video.

    • @BackRoadBikerChuck
      @BackRoadBikerChuck  2 роки тому +2

      Thanks, Adam! It makes me happy that people appreciate my videos! 💙 🙏🏼,
      Actually, yes, the Meteor did great in the hills. I was up around 5500 ft (1.68km) above sea level and I had all the power I needed. I weigh 195lbs (88.5kg) and, although I haven't weighed my gear, I'd say it's about 50lbs (23kg). Now, these twisty, mountain roads are only about 35-40mph (55kph), so I wasn't trying to go up any hills at high speed, but it felt like great power and control to me. That's one of the things I like about the Meteor. It feels very stable through turns while it's geared up.
      I watched your Christmas Parade video! Is that where you live? Looks like you have some great motorcycle roads there! 🏍
