The real advantage of the basic Twinblade is that it's the only one you can get early game. The Gargoyle's Twinblade needs you to beat Radahn, go to Nokron, then beat the twin gargoyle boss, and everything else is in Altus or later. Twinblade? Right there in Limgrave. Similarly, if you leave it uninfused the Godskin Peeler is your only source of Black Flame Tornado before Farum Azula, which is a very useful AoW in PvE.
I mean, you could just get twinned by rushing dectus medallion... sure regular twinblade is just next to spawn, but you can get both weapons right at the start without fighting any bosses
@@thexlxx If you know where the medals are and don't mind riding for 20 minutes straight, sure. Vanilla Twinblade is both right next to the tutorial and doesn't require looking anything up, other than maybe 'try jumping over walls'.

I would hard recommend Eleonora for PvE, it's easy to get decently early, applies good bleed and poise breaks with the AoW, and has a relatively straightforward build
As someone who primarily invades, the Godskin Peeler is an attractive choice for me. 1) there are thrust/pierce attacks throughout the moveset, so the Spear Talisman works well with it. 2) the default weapon art Blackflame Tornado does high damage with high poise break, and is great for "turn and burns". 3) the two-handed charged strong attacks are difficult for the opponent to dodge if executed while to close to the enemy. The ending thrust attack tends to roll catch them.
The running R2 can also shred people easily. My recommendation is to use the rotten wing insignia combined with the millicents prosthesis and and spiked Crystal tear to boost your damage like crazy when hitting with the godskins multiple attacks. Personally I believe that's how the weapon was intended to be used
Flame Art God Skin TB + Black Flame AoW is the better iteration of the base weapon. Or go Cold Affinity then reset it with Black Flame. (If Black Flame acts like Fire for Cold.)
@@absolstoryoffiction6615 using black flame tornado actually cancels out any greases or coats applied to the weapon on use, so you’d have to reapply the frost grease after every single use of the weapon art, which is very inefficient. Also I meant that you can’t put a cold affinity on black flame tornado, not powerstancing 2 twinblades with different ashes of war, which if you did, you’d only have one of your 2 twinblades building up frostbite, which defeats the entire purpose of powerstancing twinblades for rapid status buildup. It’s better to just put cold on both twinblades and use a different weapon entirely with black flame tornado in a backup slot.
Noone ever explains how the multihit aspect of 2 handed twinblades affects the total buildup. 100 blood buildup on weapon, 2hr1 is 1 mini hit + 1 hit. Does this split 100 between those 2 hits? Or does it go over the 100 buildup?
The first hit has 50% of the status buildup, and the final hit has 100% status buildup. This is basically 150% of the buildup. The charged r2 has 4 hits, with 3 of them being at 50% and the last one being 100%. This results in 250% buildup.

I've one handed the twinblade because it's literally just a really long straight sword, pair with barbaric roar for on demand poise trades and off hand a catalyst
I would say the one handed moveset is better for pvp because there’s a thrust roll catch running r1 and the multi hits of the two handed moveset only hit opponents once before rolling doing less damage because the first hit of the multi hit does less damage
I just wanna say though that the one handed moveset for the twinblades (especially godskin peeler) are NOT bad. They're essentially a spear/straight sword hybrid. You can roll catch REALLY well with a well placed R1, you get fantastic running attacks and the rolling attack comes out a lot faster than you'd think.
the main point is it is 8 weight for a straight sword worth of range. For less you can get a thrusting sword if you want a stab. For same/more you can get a spear. For a slash, you can get a straight sword for less than half the weight. Not to mention, their poise damage is the same as straight swords. So, yeah. They are, objectively speaking, kind of bad as they are always weaker in one or more aspects versus the alternative.
On a side note, occult is actually good if you couple with with seppuku. But you should reapply seppuku every 30 seconds. It is strong on PVE with an arcane build. Although I prefer the curved swords better for the same job.

I actually tried this with brick hammer, unfortunately it gets more ar for the same amount of stats with strength, although it's better than quality for it. Can't speak for giant crusher though, but 60 str requirement is hefty
Is the most op build a blood and frost twinblade (take your pick, as they all apply status with the same motion values while power stanced) power stanced? With it being percentage damage focused, wouldn't this be great at low levels, end game and on NG+7? The most broken thing they can do is add a scarlet rott twinblade in the DLC that can be infused.
Since 1.06 changed things, are you going to make a video for correcting stuff from your old videos since the data is outdated now, lucerne literally became the best Halberd in the game (for me) over night for example.
They're mostly animation speed changes, so the greatsword video pretty much is the same. As for Lucerne, I think they gave it shield pierce for some attacks, which would mean it is still weaker than militia shotel that has shield pierce on everything. If it got pierce attacks instead of standard attacks, it is still weaker than the banished knights. Basically a halberd I wouldn't run for anything got a tiny boost so you might maybe consider it a tiny bit more due to its different moveset. In the end, I'd still say it is one of the weaker ones.
@@Chrightt but it gets boosted by spear talisman, I have a pokey build that uses Claymore, Rusted Anchor, pickaxe and other such weapons with pierce damage, which would greatly benefit from lucerne since I dont like the other moveset. I too have a pokey build, and I wish the Lucerne deserved a spot in one of my weapon slots, but it just doesn't. @@DatRealTom I mean I haven't had the chance to check it myself but the patch notes clearly say that they changed the standard damage to pierce on the other attacks (it was a bug) so either your tests are wrong or from messed it up again
I know this is focused mostly on PvP, but in PvE, Bloodblade Dance is such an "I win" button, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the massive poise and stance damage it does. Plus it has great hyperarmor. When tough enemies like banished knights and omen literally can't fight back because they're too busy getting knocked around, I don't really care that a blood Peeler would do more blood buildup than the Poleblade for my arc/dex build. It's hard to hemorrhage an enemy that keeps interrupting you while you try to hit them because your hits are like mosquito bites and you can be stopped by a light breeze. With the Poleblade you don't worry about it, because if they survive two L2s they will be staggered anyway, and everything bleeds eventually.
All skills that make you airborne have infinite hyper armor :) They pretty much dumped Loretta's over but with more hits means more stagger, so yeah it deals quite a bit of stagger.
@@Chrightt I've never even taken a glance at Loretta's... what is it a spear? So BBD is unique to me. I didn't know that all skills with airborne components couldn't be interrupted, though I noticed it was impossible to break the Winged Scythe's skill while in mid-air, which I've exploited a lot. Anyway, thanks for clearing that up. Still a great vid as usual!
FINALLY! ngl I thought godskin would be best in terms of raw damage, and I definitely didn't expect the knights to be as good as it was, I'm thinking whenever I can get back on I'll make a dex build and main twinblades, thanks for the content as usual
I use the basic twinbkadr because I like it's look the most. It's the closest to the lightsaber aside from the polebblade but I didn't spec into arcane so
The Poleblade weapon art has crazy hyper armor after the jump which makes it a good mix up in pvp once the enemy gets cocky around your jump attacks. It’s no corpse piler but it’s quite satisfying
I see so many people, both in game and in videos, one-handing twinblades, and I don't know why. I mean, look at it, look at the weapon, it's asking to be two-handed
If the main purpose of the weapon is doing the weapon art, then flame infusion is good with it. But for attacking with the weapon itself, it isn't. So, if you really want black flame tornado on twinblades, you would still go with flame
@@Chrightt Thanks for the response. I was more thinking which weapon would it be more optimal to use. From my research so far, the Glaive and the Black Knights Halberd are the most efficient Flame weapons for this Ash as they scale with Faith the best. It would be really cool if you would do a "Best Infusion for each weapon type" video. Like "Best Heavy Straight Sword is X, Best Heavy Curved Sword is X, Best Heavy Spear is X" it would really help with all the obscure ones like Flame and Lightning.

If only the Twinblades had the same Spinning Slash poise damage as lighter weapons... I feel like they accidentally distributed the poise damage for this Ash of War upside down.
tbh the main reason to pick the vanilla Twinblade is aesthetic. Twinned Knight's and Gargoyle's are UGLY. Peeler is weird, but I respect it. Vanilla twinblade is simple and non-distracting, and looks the coolest when buffed. But yeah, I don't wanna level Strength either.
I am honestly quite disappointed by Twinblade's one-handed moveset. Looks very fancy but the range is so short and the combo way to longer to ever do fullly
I've noticed that the trails they leave in the air come from both ends so I've always assumed both blades have a hitbox even during weapon arts. I've always wondered if spinning weapon would be especially good with twin blades but I doubt it would have double the hits
@@Shmethan I think he mentioned in one of hes videos that it doesn't hit with both ends. It was about spinning strikes or spinning slash. Don't remember. I tried testing spinning weapon myself. Just going by apparent dps there didn't seem to be a difference between twin blades and other weapons.
Depends on your playstyle. If you don't want to continuously do jump attacks over and over, then yeah. 2H gives you more options for 1 less weapon to train. It is also possible to do both.
It's a shame you can't cue up attacks for different combos, that would be really really cool, but also it's from so stuff like that is going to take a wile. Also the corkscrew is very very stupid, and helicopter
What do you mean queue up attacks? You can queue an attack ahead of time in the game though, like buffering a dodge/attack before your next action so it immediately comes out.
@@Chrightt sorry I didn't communicate well because I was tired and didn't feel like writing, basically different button combinations cause different animations, wich would be good for the twin blade especially sense it's supposed to be flowing. Also why don't they give spells full movesets or make it so you can equip them to a catalist and make your own moveset or just give each one a bunch of natural spells that works like it's own moveset, That would make them of more then a stat block, I don't get why they don't do it for me it's so obvious. I makes me think that from are far too loyal to tradition and bit stupid. Dark souls is a fighting game and they should embrace that
I would recommend doing an arcane/faith build with dragon communion seal so you can run bleed twinblades and get use out of arcane while arcane also scales your seal's scaling. This way you can have something like a 30 faith/45 arcane distribution, so it would still be focused on incantations while the twinblade itself would also still be able to apply statuses.
Because stamina cost is tied to the weight of the weapon. Higher weight = higher stamina cost. Of course, there are breakpoints (i.e. 1 weight might not have a difference on stamina cost of same class while 2 weight will). Heavier weapon classes always have higher stamina cost and within the same weapon type you will see stamina cost based on weight. This is the real reason why Wakizashi uses less stamina in powerstanced moveset. Not because it is anything special, but rather because it is lighter (a dagger) and will naturally consume less stamina versus a heavier katana.
@@tonycheunghunter Not particularly, but I have all the stamina consumption values in the MV sheet on my discord. Nothing that particularly stands out like something really heavy using really little stamina or vice versa.
"This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado." "The fire damage always scales with Faith, regardless of set affinity." It's true for the GodSkin Peeler ? If yes, the flame infusion is nice, no ?
It is true for godskin peeler as well. Flame infusion is nice if your focus is the weapon art, but if your focus is attack with the twinblade it isn't that good.
Bro how can you do an ‘in depth guide’ and not even talk about armor pieces or talismans that go with twinblades, more like ‘let me show you the moveset and statuses everyone can already see on screen in their game’ 🤦🏻♂️
Because that's not the purpose of the video? Where did he say he was breaking down the armor and talismans that work best with twinblades, when the video is about the weapons on their own standing.
Note about the cold infusion and needing fire to reset it. The best way i found to do it was to have the Flame surge incantation equipped with the Golden Order seal. Once the frostbite procs you can just reset it by throwing a very fast running Flame surge and then going back to 2 handed - Powerstanced twinblades to reapply it, repeat until enemy is dead. Also you can reset poison with Poison Moth flight ash of war, even tho Poison is a very weak status effect. Poison Moth is basically a frostbite proc damage worth. And it resets the poison so you can reapply it.

You're significantly better off with a thrusting sword or a spear, or one of their larger variants, especially if you also use a shield.
@@DatRealTom I mean I haven't had the chance to check it myself but the patch notes clearly say that they changed the standard damage to pierce on the other attacks (it was a bug) so either your tests are wrong or from messed it up again
I cant wait to see you dissect the new updates in 1.06
I know this is focused mostly on PvP, but in PvE, Bloodblade Dance is such an "I win" button, I'm surprised you didn't say anything about the massive poise and stance damage it does.
I await a video on the colossal swords next! Godslayer has been very enjoyable for me, but will like your input on the others.
I use the basic twinbkadr because I like it's look the most. It's the closest to the lightsaber aside from the polebblade but I didn't spec into arcane so
Okay, but here’s the big question. Dual wield twin blades or dual wield bandit’s curved swords? Which is mathematically best?
My fav weapon class in the game, sucks that they suck in pvp.
Hey Chrightt does the two handed move set have the same range as the one handed poke?
Finally…Twin Blades :D
thank you for the twinblade breakdown, long awaited
The Poleblade weapon art has crazy hyper armor after the jump which makes it a good mix up in pvp once the enemy gets cocky around your jump attacks. It’s no corpse piler but it’s quite satisfying
All weapon arts that make you go airborne have infinite hyper armor when you're fully airborne.
@@Chrightt Eleonora's isn't fully airborne, as it definitely doesn't have infinite hyper armor.
Ah, just what I needed right about now
What if I want to use twinblade weapon on high int build?
I see so many people, both in game and in videos, one-handing twinblades, and I don't know why. I mean, look at it, look at the weapon, it's asking to be two-handed
Dang so Flame art isnt recommended for Godskin Peeler? What's a good weapon to use the Black Tornado Ash of War on? I have 80 faith and 50 Dex
@@edwardperez8580hey bro, I know this is super late, but did you find any good dex weapons that were strong w black flame tornado? Trying to find a good dex alternative
What are the motion values of Bloodblade Dance? Might be worth checking since Corpse Piler had insane status build up.
There are a ton of motion values for Bloodblade Dance because of the # of different instances you can hit. Full list on my discord.
My first try with these was an elenoras build. It was pretty bad till sl90 or so and still worse than any other build I've tried. My second attempt was the Knights and its always good. So many content parasites say Elenoras is best.
You could also have been bad at the game, or used a bad version of the build.
Where do you learn the indepth value calculations?
self-taught from years of experience I guess 😂
Am i blind or did u forgot to show the running light attack (which is pretty nice for rollcatching since is a good stab when 1handing)
i should take another look at eleonoras, im running 99 arcane which is pretty neat +40 strength, i use blood infused gargoyles twinblade with seppuku, that thing can 1 combo people in pvp which is pretty nuts and i cant believe that hasnt been nerfed yet
i already asked on the previous video, but could u do a before and after comparison of the speed changed they did with todays/yesterdays update of heavy weapons?
also good luck on seeling your bock
If only the Twinblades had the same Spinning Slash poise damage as lighter weapons... I feel like they accidentally distributed the poise damage for this Ash of War upside down.
tbh the main reason to pick the vanilla Twinblade is aesthetic. Twinned Knight's and Gargoyle's are UGLY. Peeler is weird, but I respect it. Vanilla twinblade is simple and non-distracting, and looks the coolest when buffed.
But yeah, I don't wanna level Strength either.
I am honestly quite disappointed by Twinblade's one-handed moveset. Looks very fancy but the range is so short and the combo way to longer to ever do fullly
im trying to find a video of somebody using max roll distance with all the buffs and stiff
Do all of the weapon skills with twin blades hit with only one end of the weapon?
Spinning Weapon, Spinning Strikes and Spinning Slash
I've noticed that the trails they leave in the air come from both ends so I've always assumed both blades have a hitbox even during weapon arts. I've always wondered if spinning weapon would be especially good with twin blades but I doubt it would have double the hits
@@Shmethan I think he mentioned in one of hes videos that it doesn't hit with both ends. It was about spinning strikes or spinning slash. Don't remember. I tried testing spinning weapon myself. Just going by apparent dps there didn't seem to be a difference between twin blades and other weapons.
How would they hit with both? They're on opposite ends 😂
So, you generally recommend a single twinblade 2h rather than powerstance?
Depends on your playstyle. If you don't want to continuously do jump attacks over and over, then yeah. 2H gives you more options for 1 less weapon to train. It is also possible to do both.
Transient moonlight vs unsheath? Does unsheath get more damage?
Transient Moonlight should be doing more damage with the right stat investment.
Is that Jon snow and ghost on the cover of your novel?
No, but the artist definitely took lots of inspiration from the GoT theme 😂Perhaps it was the only equivalent he could think of.
Dark souls is a fighting game and they should embrace that
Could you do a Scythe guild next please?
I will be covering Scythes/Reapers for sure, but unlikely the next weapon breakdown.
Gargoyles Twinblade is easily my favorite PVE weapon, tho PvP eh
Babe wake up, new Chrightt video just dropped
Do you have any recommendations for Faith builds that want to use twinblades, if Flame and Sacred aren't recommended?
I would recommend doing an arcane/faith build with dragon communion seal so you can run bleed twinblades and get use out of arcane while arcane also scales your seal's scaling. This way you can have something like a 30 faith/45 arcane distribution, so it would still be focused on incantations while the twinblade itself would also still be able to apply statuses.
Why don't you mention stamina consumption in these videos?
Because stamina cost is tied to the weight of the weapon. Higher weight = higher stamina cost. Of course, there are breakpoints (i.e. 1 weight might not have a difference on stamina cost of same class while 2 weight will). Heavier weapon classes always have higher stamina cost and within the same weapon type you will see stamina cost based on weight. This is the real reason why Wakizashi uses less stamina in powerstanced moveset. Not because it is anything special, but rather because it is lighter (a dagger) and will naturally consume less stamina versus a heavier katana.
@@Chrightt is there a universal rule or not, across all weapon classes?
@@tonycheunghunter Not particularly, but I have all the stamina consumption values in the MV sheet on my discord. Nothing that particularly stands out like something really heavy using really little stamina or vice versa.
總感覺石像鬼黑○每次都輸在AR 打黑劍眷屬瞬間沒意義了
我覺得是個超懶惰的設計
真的
"This is an Ash of War Skill, associated with the Ash of War: Black Flame Tornado."
"The fire damage always scales with Faith, regardless of set affinity."
It's true for the GodSkin Peeler ? If yes, the flame infusion is nice, no ?
It is true for godskin peeler as well. Flame infusion is nice if your focus is the weapon art, but if your focus is attack with the twinblade it isn't that good.
@@Chrightt Oh thanks you !
Hahaha. The last thing I'm worried about is my stat distribution. I'm sitting on a lv 650 Is character on my 5th play through.
cool
😲 The TWINBLADE is a *bad* twinblade??!
What's next? The Greatsword not being a greatsword???
You may want to sit down for this one...
jump attack hits 6 times
Uh, no.
i really dont like twin blades. visually not appealing and on top of that very inferior in pvp to most other weapons, due to the moveset and reach
