Michael Burks with the Song Empty Promises
Live at 18. Grolsch Bluesfestival in Schöppingen!
Blues from heart so nice Michael you are the best yeah! so much feeling!
have fun!
MICHAEL BURKS, another great player that was vastly underrated, and never made the so called best guitarist lists, brilliant soulful singing and playing from a great man!!!!
Tone is so elusive. You can't buy it. You can't steal it. Some players have it. Most players don't. Michael definitely had it.
I feel so ashamed that I've only recently discovered his songs. And so gutted to know today that he has passed away. What a loss :'(
Truly he will go down in history as one of the greatest guitarists that walked this earth.
Seen him live in 2004, he was far better than many other big name groups.
You will be missed Michael, and your music will forever live.
A big loss. Had the honor of meeting Michael at a blues festival in PA a couple of years ago. Soft spoken, modest, with a big hears who loved his family dearly. So warm. And an amazing musician. Play on Michael!
I can listen to him 24/7 so great rest in peace brother
I fell in love with this song the first time I saw Kingfish perform it on Luke Cage. So much soul, emotion, and one of the best guitar riffs ever written, IMO. It's a complete shame that Iron Man Burks isn't a household name, and this song is proof that he should be. One of the best blues songs since the golden years of the 3 kings.
Oh man, I am in such amazement here... Fan of the Blues for so long... Just now discovering this man and his passion, thanks to Spotify.... So sad to read he has passed and I never got to see him live... Like so many others commenting... such passion and emotion coming from him and his guitar.... whole band actually... good stuff man! RIP Michael Burks and thank you for the music I will continue to listen to... this song is EPIC <3
So this was the channel and inspiration for Kingfish Ingram. Too much soul in one song RIP Michael Burks. You were a real one.
this guy makes me cry every time I hear this tune...so much love and pain in every note of his guitar...may God bless his soul forevermore...
Many covers of his song (including Kingfish who I love) but his is the best. A great bluesman.
So much feeling though tone, touch, emotion, and dynamics. A roller coaster of passion!
I looked up blues in the dictionary, lo and behold a picture of Michael Burks
Study Jazz and Classic Guiter for couple of years never get tired about his melody and riff. He is the best for me
Aaaaawsone.. listen more to Michael’s songs!!
les paul guitar + blues = heaven
He played the best show I ever saw at J&J blues bar in Fort Worth Texas, never forgot that night. He came to our table several times and played!
Dude had a nice tone. RIP man.
JKBluesReport thank you - this is golden. Iron Mike is gone but not forgotten.
What a sound , no matter how many times Iplay this /cd/ youtube , it still blows me away , what a talent , taken much too soon .
