Farmer Derek lives and works on the Klingenberg Family farm and ranch. He works with his Dad and two brothers. They raise Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Cattle, and Cats. They background all the cattle and then graze them in the Flint Hills and they end up at the feedyards in Western Kansas.
The farm was started in the mid 30's by his grandpa who immigrated from West Prussia in 1923 when he was 9.
Growing up, Derek's family priorities consisted of church, family, work, music, and eating a lot. He now has his own family of three cute girls along with his wife Kara. Derek spends his time working on the farm, dancing with his girls, and making UA-cam videos.
When my 1yo son is screaming crying to the point I can't calm him, I put this song on and WHAMMO big smile. Last night he got into a funk that I couldn't fix, and thought...haven't tried bumble bee song in awhile. We watched it no less than 10x in a row, he's laughing, clapping, jamming out. He's one of your biggest fans.

Stumbled into a nest in the mow.... my husband and I are getting older but we made it all the way to the house in NO TIME FLAT!! After the stingin slowed down we couldn't quit laughin...........SO glad nobody was watchin us they'd have thought we'd lost our marbles!!

Farmers work hard, every day. An agribusiness is the most difficult business to run. Every factor plays in: construction, project management, time management, market fluctuations, government controls, employee relations, equipment management, soils management, nutrient management, and much more.
It is a fact that the busiest people get more done every day- because they are active and energetic, not because they have "too much time."
Got in a pretty big nest my self on a old open ford tractor this past year didn't know I could come off a tractor that fast.

We had bumblebees in the woodpile. One of them got our friend in the eye! 😮 We are surrounded by 12 acres of hay field. Can relate to this.😆😆😆

I'm another one who ran from bumblebees -- i was plowing and a few yards along the furrow, i heard a buzz and saw bees buzzing out of the ground behind me, towards the tractor (and therefore me). I quick lifted the plow, shifted up to 2nd and took off running. The bees chased and buzzed the tractor a while, and then quit about 3/4 of the way across the field. Me? the tractor tires followed the furrow and i waited at the far end, stepped up on the tractor and -- discretion being the better part of valor -- drove on home for the day, I came back and finished the plowing a couple days later, after the bees left their plowed up nest.
Mine was Yellow Jackets in the round hay bales whch i was moving to somewhere else. In this case, i backed the tractor out of there, put it in high and skedadled as fast as the tractor could go. Another time with no stings, tho this was the largest Yellow Jacket nest i've ever seen out of many, many dozen nests. Sometimes Lady Luck smiles, some times she smirks. I was REAL happy this was a smiling time.
That was great. I got the link from my dad in Texas. He still has friends in Butler County from the old days. I'm out in San Diego.

This is very funny to me, especially because it rings a little truth. We're beekeepers. Just last month I was chased out of the honeybee yard and followed by a single bee who wouldn't let me bee! Yikes, it landed on my nose.

Great video, this reminds me of when we were bailing hay and my brother was kicking at the windrows looking for field mice, until one crawled up his pants leg. He danced a jig trying to get that mouse that I had to stop the tractor I was laughing so hard.
I cannot tell you the enjoyment this video has provided for me and my family this year, when we found ourselves still in the hayfield in August. Great work. Keep it up!!!!!

Thank you so much for this video! My dad put-up and sold hay all my childhood/teenage years and my siblings and I grew up in the hay fields! Jumping windrows and playing on bales! good times! I don't every remember dealing with bees but ANTS. Dad mowed off a HUGE ant hill once and then my baby brother ended up standing on up of it, he had red ants all over him and they were biting. Mom stripped him passed his diaper getting the ants off.
My nieces love this... having a heck of a time finding lyrics so we can sing along, though..

Funny video! As far as "too much time on their hands", while most of us have 40-80 hour per week jobs, farmers and ranchers jobs are 168 hours a week (aka 24/7). You never know when an animal is going to have an issue (sick, giving birth, etc.), harvesting is done day and night during harvest season, and all the other things that have to be done, fixed, etc. ... all to provide food for all the grateful and ungrateful people out there. So, if you have a problem with these hard-working people taking a moment to also entertain you, try filling their shoes.
