Different strokes for different folks. If you’re doing true off roading or need to tow over 5000 lbs choose the Frontier. If not, choose the Ridgeline since it’s more comfortable, spacious, and economical.
It’s not as spacious as it could be. The back seat door panel in the Ridgeline is too large and negates the space with how much room it takes up. My Dad bought a 2023 2 months ago. Really not a smart move on Honda’s part.
@@jakes5530 On paper it does. The Ridgeline pickup is wider but for rear seating you still have to sit next to the door if using that seat. They compromise the overall width of the pickup in the rear with their super fat door panels. So in real life the rear seating room is about the same as a Tacoma or a Frontier. I have sat in all of them after configuring the front seat. I’m 6’3. I could barley close the door in the Ridgeline because the door panel is too fat. Your legs can’t sit normal comfortable in the rear seats. If Honda made the rear door panels slimmer (what I think is more normal), than the rear seating would fit a tall person.
The Frontier just looks so much better. My head says Ridgeline but my heart says Frontier. Going Frontier who cares about daily functionality if you hate the way it looks.
I felt the same way when I was comparing my Ridgeline to a Tacoma. Loved the look of the Tacoma but after test driving both, hated the ride, handling, seating position and lack of interior cabin space of the Tacoma. While it's true that the Ridgeline should not be compared to any body on frame 4x4 pickup for off road chops, it does most everything else anyone would require of a midsize pickup with a much more comfortable ride. It's a great everyday day driver and occasional soft roader.
@Dave Armor well just follow your instincts, and common sense. Ask yourself before buying a pick up truck. Ask yourself First about a thousand times 🤔💭🤔💭 in the times like this America is in a Economic and Financial Recession Auto Parts, Maintenance, Labor, Vehicle Registration, Insurance and Gas Prices are going up like Hell! Do I really need a pickup truck 🛻??? What do I needed it for? What am I doing daily? What am I hauling? But I'm more concerned about gas mileage, MPG bullshit but do I really need it or just wanted it?? What size of Pickup Truck should I buy? Am I ok with the smaller trucks? Or half ton full size or 3/4 ton trucks?? Am I gonna Haul and Tow stuffs pretty often? Or am I good with my good ole Subaru or Prius or Corolla?? Also you gotta consider this owning a pickup truck is not a joke.
Ben exactly the type of video I like to see. Thanks you for comparing two trucks that I would actually consider purchasing. Someone else summed up my view, “My heart says Pro4X, my head says Ridgeline.” I tow a 2900 lb camper, so the Ridgeline has plenty of tow capacity for my needs. Also, unless I am off-roading, the Ridgeline has way more utility in a more comfortable package in terms of ride quality and interior space. The multifunction tailgate and the trunk in the bed are game changers. Most importantly, the Ridgeline has way more useful cargo carrying capacity than the Pro4X. Plus, I prefer the all-time AWD to the the Frontier’s traditional 4WD system. I will do forest service roads, etc. when camping, so the Ridgeline’s system is perfect. BUT, damn Honda, get rid of all that chrome on the Ridgeline. Even the Black Edition has too much chrome! Also, Honda give the Ridgeline a real shifter. Heck, I am just fine with a column shifter. Also, the HPD Package offers no function at all. I would not pay for the “looks” of the HPD Package. LOL, I would be perfectly happy with the Pro4X. I don’t need that much off-road capability, but oh my it looks great! I am hoping that Honda will offer in 2024 a “Trail Edition” package that offers some functionality and eliminates even more of the chrome. Despite loving the truckiness of the Pro4X, I would still opt for the Ridgeline. It offers more functionality and utility (other than off-road prowess) in a more refined and comfortable package.
My thoughts exactly! I like them both, but I think the Ridgeline is the better choice for most people. I hope they redesign it again and give it more ground clearance, a better Infotainment system, a real shifter, and a beefier looking front end. The Frontier definitely looks better to me, but the older I get, the less it's about looks. Comfort and everyday functionality appeal more to me.
I own a 2022 Black Edition Ridgeline and for every day driving I love it. Don’t go off roading so it’s perfect for me. The Black Edition in pearl Black like the one I have looks way better than the one you have there.
I would go Ridgeline. I have been looking at both of these trucks for a while. I like both of their new(er) redesigns. However, for a daily driver and utility that I would use the truck for it had to be the Ridgeline
The Ridgeline is nearly perfect, and would probably get it over the Frontier. But man, I just wish Honda gave it more ground clearance. That's a pretty big ding against it.
I drive a 2021 Ridgeline Sport. Although it is classified as a pickup truck according to the insurance, DMV and Wikipedia. I always call it a SUV with a bed even though most folks I came across call it a truck. It get the job done for 90% folks. I'm very happy with the purchase, and will not buy another truck unless I'm going for a full size truck because it does everything I need, and I don't do rock crawling or tow more than 4000 lb.
I like both of these trucks. I test drover both along with every other mid-size in the market. I bought the Ridgeline. The comfort, economy, and reputation were the deciding factors for me. I owned a 2003 Xterra that was bulletproof. My concern is that Nissan as a company has made a ton of sh*t since then. The Frontier feels solid, but I drive a lot for work and the last thing I want to do is worry about whether my transmission is going to begin toy slip by 60K miles. Both trucks made in USA. For what it is worth, if you're on the fence here, the 2023 Ridgeline has been a fantastic daily driver and, me being me, I have done some stupid sh*t in it during flooded streets/heavy rain. It performed well, but I think adding under body skid plates and another inch of ground clearance are on the menu. I also tow about 3,600lbs and have hauled stone in it...a lot of stone.
Frontier look 100x better. Love the “trunk” in the RidgelinePilotPassportOdyssey. Absolutely hate the arm rest in the all of the Honda minivan/suv/truck. It’s so thin and after a long drive there’s always an elbow print that takes longer and longer to reshape. I can’t wait until next year when they go back to a fixed arm rest(just hope the “leather” material is thicker than it used to be in the older pilot/ridgelines.
That armrest bugs me, I can't get past it, and 100% of the time I spend in the truck I would be using it, I can't do it. The Ridgeline overall is enough truck for me, I don't off road but I own a 2010 Frontier LE 4x4 and suspect I'll trade that in soon on a 2023 Pro4X. I do like the 'trucky' look of the Frontier better too.
For those that leave their comments denigrating the Ridgeline as not a truck, I think maybe you have deeply rooted issues you should probably deal with. It's not a good look.
Ridgeline all the way for day to day commute. Can't wait to test drive one. I'm leaning more on the Honda with the independent front and rear suspension. Long term I believe it will outlast the Nissan. Most mid size truck owners don't tow more than 5000lbs anyways. I see a New Honda Ridgeline purchase in the near Future. Viewing all the UA-cam reviews has me pretty much sold on the Honda. Like I mentioned, A TEST DRIVE FIRST.... Thanks Ben for all your GREAT VIDEOS... 2 thumbs up !!

If you're buying for your 1st pick up truck you gotta think 🤔💭 about it a thousand times before buying it regardless of brands and models. I looked and test drove both the Ridgeline and Frontier in the same day. I went home to do research on trim options and opinions on both vehicles (mostly both models' forums). I saw the Ridgeline was having serious issues with water entry along the rear of the cab. The event isnt ubiquitous but often enough that I went back to the dealership to check the truck I was seriously considering. I had the salesman peel the carpeting back and check for moisture. Honda is a unibody car with a box on the back. It isn't a truck.
It is a truck and registered as a truck.
I want D. None of the above.
Yah the 2023 GMC CANYON
I never thought I'd live to see the day a jap truck has more cylinders than an American truck.
Huuhh?? compare a car to a truck???
