In my opinion guardian does counteract wrecker pretty well. Of course wrecker scales higher than guardian but you could say the same for the relationship between caut and rejuvenate. If reju only helped you get 30% extra of the overall 10% healing you receive late game that'd be just an extra 3% and reju would be a dogshit item. What it does instead is that it directly counters anti heal and you get an effective 40% healing instead of the 10% you'd normally get during late game. Guardian works the same way. Assume you're playing Aegis Nando. Normally you'd have 5500 health in your shield with that talent. Add an extra 45% and you have effectively a shield with 7975 hp. If wrecker worked in the way Zarini thinks it does you'd effectively have only 10% of that so less than 800 hp but I can tell you from experience it definitely does not feel like that at all. So what is actually happening is that guardian is dialing back wrecker (like reju does to caut) to 45% effectiveness and your shield works at 55% of it's boosted hp. 55% of 7975 is 4386 which still feels very impactful and tanky late game. I honestly shouldn't be giving out the secret sauce cause when I play Aegis Nando + guardian 3 + reju 3 + scorch loadout i feel fucking immortal and even though it feels great to play I imagine it doesn't feel as great for the enemy and I don't want them to nerf nando again.
I don't think Guardian counteracts Wrecker the same way as Rejuv does to Cauterize. However, unless I'm not doing the math properly, the effective health of a shield with max Guardian against max Wrecker should be ((Shield Health × 1.45) ÷ 1.9) or more specifically, roughly 76.31% of the base shield health. So in Aegis Fernando's case, his shield would have roughly 4197 effective health. (Again, I *HOPE* I got the math right here LOL)
@@Tentaku64 I think your math is correct. But either way we're talking about a 4000+ hp shield so our results are comparable. Numbers aside it just feels so much better and you can survive and do so much more if you buy Guardian especially against Wrecker. One thing I forgot to mention is that heat transfer and the increased regeneration rate on the shield get so much value out of Guardian 3 as well. With a fully charged shield you'll get at least 8 sec CDR out of heat transfer 2. Also I believe (I haven't tested so I might be wrong) the regeneration rate is % based not a fixed number so if your shield health pool is larger you regenerate more hp per second with Guardian.
Well said, also Nando is one of those characters which doesn't really need chronos, morale boost, nimble etc. They help but they aren't must-buys like on some others. So you can start off with armor plating + veteran/master riding/unbound, and later on pick up guardian + rejuv by the time enemies have decent wrecker, giving you a 4-5k shield consistently throughout the match
