What a good way to get 2024 started than to see you two back doing a local vlog. And as usual Peters stomach prevails. Morepork BBQ is an awesome place to eat,and have popped in there a few times during work hours when we're working out west,we were working out at Waimauku in December. Another great place to grab a bite out those ways is Matty Bs at the shopping center in Waimauku. Their burgers are the size of a pizza - they are big,and even Peter and his uncanny ability to eat, will struggle driving a whole burger down his belly in one sitting, especially if accompanied by fries. Good to see you headed back out to Muriwai, which really isn't too far from Waimauku. If you really want the best west coast black sand,Raglan or Kawhia especially the Hot Water Beach.
😂😂😂 Matty B sounds like a mission... burger the size of a pizza 🍕 😅 We both really enjoyed our time in raglan especially the fish n chips shop which sold ika Mata 👌 Morepork is a great spot, ooking forward to going back sometime. Have a great 2024 🎉
👋👋👋....Hi Peter ,Hi Yen ,I ♥️ your vlog......🎇🎉🎆🎊🎇🎉🎆🎊🎇.... Happy New Year Guys ,We made it .If that BBQ restaurant serves Cornbread,It should be pretty close to American BBQ ...😋😋😋,Both of you look great ,Keep taking care of #1.♥️you guys ,Be extra safe ...🙏🙏
Hello hello ptrevino ✌️ happy 2024 🎉 glad to finally try an American BBQ. Spent years watching videos of the best American BBQs and now finally got to experience it hahaha. Take care and have a great year ahead ❤️
Such brilliant and beautiful sunflowers...kind of gives you a very happy feeling even just looking at it🥰🥰🥰. . Last but not least, Peter sung well with the lion king song..👏👏👏
I don't know how you guys do it but every time you eat food it makes me hungry, like we have those same foods here in Florida but somehow it looks so much better when you guys eat them lol.Question do those wicker things fly? 👀
You must get loads of great BBQs there 😁👍 I guess in America they don't call them American BBQs though and they're just BBQs? 😂 The weta don't fly thank goodness! It's funny that we have native birds here that don't fly either.. unfortunately why many species go extinct coz of introduced predators over time 😓
@@PeterandYen Hey Peter! Happy New Year to you both too 🎆 Yup, I booked tickets to go visit a friend in Houston in March. I've never been to the States before, so I'm looking forward to it, especially going to the NASA Space Centre 🚀 How're your travel plans going?
Ooo that sounds awesome! You can enjoy more BBQ😂 Travel plans are going good. We'll be heading to south east Asia this year. Going all over and really looking forward to it.
Hey Daryl 👋 surfing 🏄♂️ seems like a really great hobby. Get really fit and have a great time on the water. Do you have a surf beach near where you live?
@PeterandYen surfing does seem all that and more. We aren't really near any surf beaches, but I wouldn't mind a couple of weeks in Gisborne at a surf school to learn the skills 😊
This sunflower field is glorious 😍. The sunflower is taller than Yen lol. This reminded me of the sunflower field we saw from South Island in Oamaru back in Jan 2017. We researched the area and went there, especially for the sunflower 🌻. Sunflower is my favourite 😍. The sunflower field you guys went I'd perfect for prewedding, couple or portrait photo shoot 😅. Can you drone there? What's the Max temperature you guys experienced in summer in Auckland? The last time we were in North Island is in Jan 2017 and it was nice and warm. Then we went South Island after, it so bloody windy and cold 🥶 😊
If you book the private session you can drone there. But on the open days you're not allowed to. Summer this year has been really hot. We've been hitting mid to high 30s quite often. But it always feels hotter cause the NZ sun is very biting.
@PeterandYen I see. Come to Australia you can get up to 40 degrees 🤣. Since we came back from our holidays, every day in Sydney like an oven. I love to drone that sunflower field. Yeah, open day is too many people.
The tracks to the gannet colony got damaged in the big storms about a year ago (that P&Y mentioned near the start of the video). They should get repaired/reopened eventually, but - as usual - Auckland Council has given no estimate of when. (To be fair, they have many other tracks to repair as well.)
@finlayson thank you....yes I know it was closed after the cyclone but hoping it was openas its been almost a year.....after over a year I went to Piha last month...was hoping to see the Gannet Colony in few weeks time....hopefully soon....
Brilliant way to start the 2024 vlog with some delicious pork and close friends The brisket looked so so so good, will head out there when I visit Auckland next, for I am definitely going to have my roast pork nasi lemak fix for lunch The water at Maukatia look so inviting for a hot day and after a heavy meal Have a great week
Hello L H 😊 sounds like you were heading out for a great lunch! Def check out morepork the food there is really tasty. Though that was our first American BBQ 😂 what is your favorite comfort food?
First time trying Murican bbq??? Whaaaaa??? First time trying cornbread??? Whaaaaa??? Maple butter tastes like….maple and butter?? Whaaaaaaaaaaa??? What is all this insanity??? Awesome to see the NZ vlogs back and awesome you guys got to try some Murican bbq. Friend recently went to Texas for work and was sending me pics off all the bbq he was eating… by the way, good use of the baby prop 😂… Is the weta a type of cricket? Do you see them in urban areas too? Very cool…. Thanks for including it! Glad to see you guys back!!! Happy New Year!!
Yes, a weta is a native New Zealand cricket (many species), that can often get much larger than the crickets you see in other countries. But they're completely harmless. (And you sometimes see them in urban areas, but more often in rural areas.)
😂 we don't get much American food here... gonna have to save all that for when we visit the States. Search giant Weta on Google 😂 those are the coolest ones though I've only seen one in the wild one time it was very impressive. My mum and dad's house gets them quite often, but it depends where you live cause they prefer damp foliage with access to rotting wood.
Love the Lion King at the end! 😂 I lived in Helensville for a while, and went past the farms often, but never popped in to see the Sunflowers. I was hoping you guys were going to do a vlog on them, and it is fab, thanks heaps 😊 Looking forward to seeing more of you two in 2024.
Look closely, inside the sunflower- the tiny "pokey things" inside are each a sunflower seed! What great photo props! Beautifully done video!
Yeah the inside of the sun flower is so intricate and interesting 😊👍

Good video, guys. Well done. Muriwai beach is often very windy... and the black sands are quite special.
Thanks 😁 next time you can try surfing at muriwai 🏄♂️
Wow so beautiful, Peter and Yen.
Thanks Thu 😁✌️
Great to have you back in 24. What are your plans for the year?
Hi Matt 😊 we're planning on spending some time in south east Asia this year.
Shared platter -- hurray! 😋
The sunflower farm looks like a nice place to visit.
Awesome spot for a Kiwi summer day 😁

Happy new year guys, I love your travel vlogs but home is always best.. 😊
Happy new year David 😁 🎉 you're right after a few months away from home it always feels great being back
…by the way, I expect to see Peter out surfing in 2024… heard there are some good spots in NZ… I remember your surf vlog from way back when 😁 🏄♂️
🤔 my plan is to either take up surfing or golf as I enter my golden years.... Golden years just around the corner 😂
I've just visited my first lavender farm, but had no idea about sunflower farms! I know what I'm doing next weekend, thanks!
Hope you have a great weekended out there 😊
Did you know that black sand is magnetic?
I may have taken some home to show friends 😊
😁 growing up in NZ we used to do science experiments with black sand and magnets in primary school
@@PeterandYen I love that that's a thing in NZ - so cool! 🔬
Looks like a great family day out and sunflowers are so cheery🌻
The BBQ looked really good too!
Yo Rob happy new year 🎉 any plans for travel this year? Or is it too early to say 😁

Lovely chill vlog guys 😊. I've always wanted to learn how to surf myself. That water looked so inviting.

@lh6135 wow that sounds so good 😅 want to be eating there right now
Man I'm upset that I'm this late to this video lol
😂 hope you enjoyed it 👍
Hey Pete & Yen - another enjoyable video....up until the singing at the end...😂😂😂 Just kidding brother (not) hehehe. Thanx guys.
😂 That's why it's at the end of the video rather than the front. Don't want ppl to turn off right at the start 😂😂😂

😁 sunflower 🌻 field 💛 was a lovely spot to spend a sunny day. I gave the big one to my mum but she freaked out after she found a caterpillar in it 😂😂😂
