Mate, YES. I dropped this song on one of my comments before but I didn't think you noticed. It has become my earworm. I like the arrangement. She didn't have to have distorted voice over a loud playing rock/metal band to deliver because everything just works well together.
A true artists is not defined by genre. They float between; weaving, mixing, and creating as they please. A true artist can make a single piece of work speak a million different things. Doja is a true artist.

I probably would have enjoyed this if it wasn’t for that. I have huge respect for Plini as an artist and I love his music, this is just an unfortunate situation.
I finally went and listened to Plini's chart. He should sue or be quiet. But he would lose. There is nothing about his song that can be considered stolen by this arrnangement. Simple chord changes won't do it. The changes to Doja's chart were made a little darker for this arrangment; but her pop changes are what they are for her song. If anything it sounds like "Taste of Honey's Good Times"(that's the origninal Disco/Funk chart. That guy Plini's is a pretty good guitarist; his ideas for that particular song have nothing to do with this and his playing is far more outside(cool) than this. Go ahead; sue or shut up.

Guitar solos alone do not make a song “Metal”. All this proves is that pop fans don’t know music beyond their genre. Doja is a good artist and is very creative. This is also a very creative marketing strategy following in the footsteps of Lil Nas X and his endless remixes, Doja’s twist being that every live performance is a different version. Still hats off to her to have the talent and team to pull this off. I personally don’t like this one but it’s well crafted and a valiant effort . Credit where credits due.

I disagree. Slash and EVH played solo's in what were otherwise MJ pop songs in terms of pretty much all the rest of the music. I'd never heard this song before, but to me the vocals are pop, but if you removed them, and only listened to everything else, musically this is all metal. To me, a song which, apart from the vocals, all metal, has more to do with metal then pop, regardless of whether that is the vocalist / band's usual music style. Rather like Blur's Song 2. Nothing else I have heard by Blur has ever made me think of metal, but I definitely think song 2 is metal.

No. The two parties have since negotiated a deal (to avoid a lawsuit) but there was no permission sought prior to the performance.
