Thanks for this video jenny! Wow you are looking more beautiful with each video you release! You’re agin backwards and you literally are GORGEOUS! You look absolutley amazing Jenny!
@@yasemeenelson6495 God bless you!!❤️🙏🏼🙏🏼
I love my Pilot retractable also- my absolute favorite fountain pen. Mine is lavender. I love that it’s so easy to use, so slim, the feel, the weight and it can be cartridges or you can use the adapter and ink.
@@valleyhavenfamilyschool8951 i totally agree- love it!
I LOVE how you antiqued the pages. It makes it look so retro vintage fabulous .
@@heathersheartco thank you!
Loving the Sharpie S-Gel

Hi Jenny. Great video! You picked some great fountain pens! I think the Lamy is not for you because of the combination of it's design and your natural grip. It tries to be fail proof with it's triangular section that forces a particular grip. Lamy offers a proprietary converter to use instead of the cartridge. Converters help because you can avoid a "hard start" by twisting the the ink into the feed after filling and before reassembling the pen and writing. This is best done holding the nib upright. I wish I could use words to describe how to hold the pen for best results. The best I can say is hold the pen with the metal part of the nib on top and the feed (the black part) underneath. I hope this helps. With persistence, it really does get easy to re-ink quickly and keep writing. There is always ink on hands with fountain pens even with the most seasoned fountain pen users. I am going to make an effort soon to share on the FaceBook fans page some encouragement. 🥰
@@nanriegert I wish I could sit with you so you could show me-Lamy is just easy and wanted it to be easier. You’re the best-sharing in fans would be fun and inspiring!
@@PlannerPerfect thank you! I would love that! ❤️
Love this video and the ensuing tips/tricks and suggestions from others. I think we need a "Current Favorites - Pen Edition" video every 6 months... 🤔😉☺️
@@theperfectlypolished agreed👌🏼😂
I fell ❤ with Lamy because how it looked in your hand when you wrote with it. It’s also just a cool looking pen! I also ❤Twisbi
Love the video! Especially the flip through of your absolutely gorgeous journal! So inspiring! 😍🍂🍁💕✨
@@SoniaMiya thank you 🙏🏼
Pilot Vanishing Point (capless) Decimo is a fav. Never experienced a dry start with my Lamy. The only pen that I use to journal with is the Easterbrook Model J with the journalers nib by Gina Salarino. Perfection every time, every day.
@@karendavidson6580 nice!!!
I don't have problems with the Lamy when I use bottled ink. After filling it, I dip the nib in the bottle and it works perfectly. I prefer bottled ink because I can find the perfect colors.
Thabk you for this video. I love my Kaweco sport. In listening to you write with the Pilot retractable, I think thats going to be my Christmas present to myself this year.
@@KayDeeSea70 it’s definitely a nice pen
Fav fountain- Kaweco. mine came in a tin that's neat. I wanted to love Lamy but have same issue. Favorite help Frixon 07 and 05 and they are eraserable.
@@angels.2697 frixon- will have to take a look!
Kaweco fountain pens are my favorite, too. The idea of a capless fountain pen is intriguing though! My favorite gel pen is the energel pen from Pentel, with brown ink. Love it! You can by refill cartridges for it, too.
@@suzanne4258 brown ink-niicceee
Lamy Safari fountain pens are the workhorse of the fountain pen world. I’ve never had an issue with getting the ink to flow but Ink is it takes a bit of time for it to start flowing through the nob. I do store it with the nib face down with the cap on. It helps.
I always clean out the one with cold water till it runs clear before putting new ink in. It also helps.
@@heathersheartco have been storing down since I saw your comment-will keep u abreast!
@@PlannerPerfect let me know how it works. Or I store on their side, even if it’s in a case in my purse. But never with thinking facing up. I will say that Lamy Safari owns I think are made with a steel bin so that can be a problem sometimes too. Best to get silver or gold nibs in my opinion. Let me know how it works.
I use a J. Herbin ink my own right now “emeraude de Chivor” it’s the most delicious green bit I get ink all over my hands every time because it takes forever to dry.
@@PlannerPerfect I also roll my pens in my hands back and forth for like a minute sometimes. That helps to warm up the ink flow too. I feel like it helps. Anything to burn a calorie hahahaha
Love it! My favorite gel pens are PaperMate Inkjoy, Sharpie S Gel, and Writech pens! I’ve only tried three fountain pens, but I love my Kaweco more than a TWSBI
@@ghostyplans I do too with that Kaweco-I absolutely love it!
Recently discovered Sharpie SGel a pack was less then $10 at Sam’s recently. I went back to get another I absolutely love them!

Try using the Lamy with the z28 converter and pilot kon-peki or Waterman inks. Also, if you still want to use cartridges put the cartridge in the barrel and screw it to the nib section. The cartridge will puncture itself. The pen is designed this was. You may also try using a bulb synergy to clean the nib section out. You can see how to do this on UA-cam. P.S. Been using Tul pens back in the 80's when I worked at Office Max they we an exclusive to us. You can buy them there and Office Depot these days.
@@davidwiseman-uf3vv will definitely try❤️🙌🏼
Could you a video showing how to do the antiquing on your pages? It’s so beautiful!
@@yasemeenelson6495 yes! Look out for it this month!
@@PlannerPerfectYes! Would love a video showing various suggestions and techniques that can be applied to the paper to showcase its versatility with different mediums as a backdrop/canvas for our writing.
@@theperfectlypolished will do this too ❤️
The Pilot Decimo is definitely the most expensive pen you have there. By far.
@@yorkdox7 and very nice😂❤️👌🏼
My favorite pens are Pentel EnerGel Clena Gel Pen - Classical Pink Body and the Fudenoskue hard tip and brush pens. Also, pretty much, any brush pens ❤
@@Gramma40 I love brush pens too!
Thank you❤going back to pen and paper planning from digital and I’m a mess because I don’t want a pen that that is a mess😂
@@Ashley-d1m yeah-not a good way to start back up😂
@@PlannerPerfect lol right. All the goodies are on way and I believe what I ordered will have me start in November:) I’m doing monthly and weekly for paper planner and a small daily spread in digital. I ordered a nice a5 Moterm so I hope it’s enough❤️
I’ve had same experience with Lamy- so annoying. I just don’t have the patience. Kaweco wins for fountain pens-adorable, variety of colors, easy to use cartridges . Love Tul. I have a rose gold one from Amazon & I love the look and how it writes. And love Stabilo Worker pens; they say .5 but really write like a .7. Great video 😊❤️
@@storygirl4138 I’m right there with you!
Love the antiqued pages! Do you have a video on how to do that?
Will do this for you this month!
I thought it was me and that I am too picky. I have searched for the perfect fountain pen, within my budget, and the winners are Benu Iced Carmel Latte medium nib and the Twisbi Diamond medium nib pens. Currently, the best gel pen is Sharpie S-Pen. Second is the Tul. I agree with you on these two pens. I appreciate this video. For me, the pen and paper are one of the most important factors in my journaling practice.❤❤
@@lilakaliene pen and paper are the most important for sure❤️
I agree with you about the Lamy fountain pen. I thought it was just me because that pen has such a following but I found the nibs to be kind of scratchy and I didn't enjoy using them.
Thanks for the pen review!
@@artyveevers2051 yeah-if you’re a fountain pen die hard then figuring out the lamy would be worth it-but I gotta pick and choose my passions for right now and it just doesn’t fit😂
I am by no means a fountain pen expert, but with my TWSBI vac 700r I need to close the valve at the end when not in use so the ink doesn’t leak all over. I open it just a tiny bit when writing so the ink can flow. I noticed the valve on the end of your TWSBI is open. Maybe that’s causing the leaking? 🤷🏻♀️
@@JenniferBouwman ahhhhh--ok. Thank you!!
The Lamy may work better for you with a converter and bottled ink. The TWSBIs with the piston filler has some nuances to them to keep them from leaking.
@@gamesandjournalythings I figured as such-I don’t think I have the patience for these yet😂
Kaweco (W pronounced V since German-I did this too). They are my go too, with AL sports my love. I do get clips for them. TWSBIs can have their moments and were a fave until I found better for me. Lamy-always hit or miss and I regret when I fall for the fun colors. Lamy 2000 is great, but bottled ink only. Pilot Decimo (capless) and Vanishing Point (also capless with slightly larger diameter) are great staple pens. Plus you can get cartridges in great Pilot inks. Their converter-not too great. Want to step these pens up a notch, get a gold nib unit from a shop like Goulet. Pilot is a Japanese maker, so fine is WAY more fine than US or German fine. I use 0.38 or .5 for my daily writing. The Pilot EF is too fine for me and depending on ink even the F can be a bit too fine. I love Sailor-MF is my choice there. Esterbrook is a love. Monteverde omniflex nib is one you might love too. Washing and cleaning-I have pens I change ink monthly and those get a good cleaning between inks. My daily writers with good old archival black ink, I don’t clean unless the pen gets fussy. I will either rinse the nib and clean well between cartridge changes or just clean the tip if some paper fibers got caught at the tip. Fountain pens can be as busy or as low maintenance as you want them to be. I got the Sailor Pleiades for Christmas and I haven’t cleaned it once. Occasionally I have needed to remove a fiber blockage from the tip. I use the Sailor black (that is waterproof) ink cartridge. I get 2-4 weeks out of each cartridge and keep a plastic box of them in my planner bag. I have the cartridges on auto ship from Amazon, so no extra thinking. Sailor and Pilot use proprietary cartridges and converters, as does Lamy. Kaweco uses standard international short cartridges. Check out the fun inks you can get by Diamine in cartridges. I have a Kaweco in broad nib that I use for titles and pair with a fun ink-just fabulous. Have fun. Fountain pens are SO useful and fun once you learn what you love. Best part, your hand doesn’t tire or cramp when writing for a long time because you don’t need the force used with other type pens. You can also get barrel sizes that help you grip in a way that is more natural. Fountain pens really are so personal to each of us.
@@MomofCurt gosh-love this. I love the gold nib idea. Love ALL these ideas!🙏🏼
What is your favorite waterproof pen(s) for watercolor and markers? All mine bleed and it drives me nuts.
@@leannewalter4516 I use micron pens but I don’t really use waterproof markers👌🏼
I had a beautiful Pilot fountain pen that had a silver job coated in rhodium. I lost it at church one day and it never got turned in.
@@heathersheartco I’d have ptsd🤣
@@PlannerPerfect I did for a long time. Super pissed that someone would find my own and keep it 😂😂😂😂 Someday I’ll spend money and get a nicer fountain pen. For now, I love the Lamy Safari pens. I have one in “petrol” and the other is a dark red maroon color. I can’t remember what it’s called.
@@PlannerPerfect every once in awhile I still look at what people are writing with to see if they have pen hahahaha
I want to know which waterproof pen is best for watercolor pages or highlighting?
@@mtorres9069 I use jelly roll pens in white or the white pen shown here and usually for my art I use micron pens …they are waterproof and amazing.
What waterproof ink did you find for the TWSBI?
@@drawmf1 it’s the carbon ink from jet pens!

@@heathersheartco maybe it’s the way I store them. Trying it!
I agree. I have quite a few LAMY pens - my favorite brand and I might have gotten a scratchy nib once but never poor ink flow. I don't order them from Amazon, so maybe that is the problem?? The black coated nibs are always my favorites. They seem smoother. But the LAMY 2000 is my favorite pen of all. I highly recommend!
@@FaithfulFarm I have ordered all mine from Amazon-I’m going to grab another and that black nib and try this again. I’m not a quitter!🤣
@@FaithfulFarm I have always ordered my fountain pens from Goulet Pens. They have great videos on UA-cam on how to care for your fountain pens etc. that’s all they do is specialize in fountain pens and inks. They know a lot and I trust their products and customer service/
@@PlannerPerfect sometimes it is. I had that issue when I started using my Lamy Safari “petrol” pen the other day. I think it had too much air in it from not having used it in a long time. So I just kept writing gently with it and eventually the ink started flowing. Sometimes it was my hand skipping. Try again !!! Sometimes it’s the paper/ the smoother and buttery the paper, I find the pen writes well on 28lb paper or higher. Let me know is how it goes. Most of the time I use a super simple Sharpie felt tip pen. I’ll try to remember to post a short video on the fans page soon.
