🚩 The end of year 216 BC is becoming an entangled mess. Pretty soon most of the Mediterranean will be drawn into the conflict. Next two episodes will lead us into the expansion of the war in Iberia, the defection of Syracuse and the revolt in Sicily, the continuation of the revolt in Sardinia, and the Macedonian entry into the war. Strap in, it's gonna be a bumpy ride :)

I've been following the series since its debut in 2018 and this is probably the first major battle won by the Romans. It may be still early, but one of my favorite battles of the 2nd Punic War is "The battle of Metaurus River", where the other brother of Hanibal, Hasdrubal Barca is defeated and killed in action by an army led by two roman Consuls. His head, then was thrown to Hanibal's camp to low is morale. This was a world war by ancient standards. i hope you are going to cover it.

Interestingly up until that point Hannibal had respected the fallen bodies of all the roman generals he had killed. In a similar way, during the first war, his father Hamilcar had done the same in sicily by allowing the romans to bury their dead, even if the romans didn't allowed him to do the same with his fallen troops, it seems that Scipio was the only honourable roman.

my friend, i was always aware of history major events and personalities, but until i found this channel I was never watching it as captivated as I was when watching Lord of the rings many years ago, I love that you have made a secondary channel as well going into the fantasy stories but in my opinion you made actual history be so captivating that I recommended your channel across europe to all the friends i know , i lost hours upon hours simply watching your videos and listening like a child , unfortunately I cannot support you financially right now due to my financial state but your videos tell me many things, one of which is how to fight my own battle in my mind and escape this bad situation, I hope I will grow old and retire before your channel goes away

@@theonlylauri Tbf , as a tactician and politician , he easily surpassed Pyrrhus , even Alexander , had he just won the battle of Zama , this discussion would be very different . @@assilhaddad5549 Maybe. I was paraphrasing the discussion he had with Scipio after the war. Hannibal put himself as the third greatest, and flattered Scipio by saying that had he won at Zama, he'd consider himself the first. Perhaps the story is made up, but perhaps not.
