Love, Love, Love that song ¡!
The White Album is brilliant. It is silly, and I love Paul’s “American Western or Southern” accent is hilarious. They didn’t take themselves too seriously.
You are my new hero! Reacting to the Beatles these days takes a lot of guts with all those Grinches around. Please continue, rain or shine! Thanks and God Bless!
I'm so very glad you reacted to this song! It's one of my favorite Paul McCartney compositions and so unique in the Beatles extensive and varied catalogue. I wish more reactors were adventurous enough to listen to this song. And yes, I think you are meant to laugh.
Love the ragtime piano
How can so many sounds come from the beatles? Genius
Agreed
This shows just how varied and talented the Beatles were, being able to shift into completely different styles and genres at the drop of a hat.
It’s a quirky song telling a story very much in keeping with the many movies and TV shows that were constantly on screen in their (and my) youth.
There are those who don’t like it, don’t understand it, so I feel sorry for them and their missing humour. It’s brilliant! 😅
It is brilliant. And it is also very funny. Paul showed another side of his musical brilliance with this unique song.
Absolutely one of my favorite Beatles songs!
Without question, there is no band like the Beatles!
It used to be commonplace for hotels and motels to have a copy of the Bible in each room. "Gideon's Bible" was the common edition. This song is an example of Paul's humor, it's not meant to be taken seriously. Gideon checking out and leaving it behind for Rocky is a joke. Gideon's is a worldwide multi-denomination organization of Christians. Traveling salesmen began leaving a copy in hotel rooms as a comfort to travelers. (I didn't know all this, I looked it up.)
@Tel-Grm_THEJAYYSHOW Oh, I can't tell you how happy I am to be chosen by a SCAMMER!
@@christinerobinson9372 I just seen they was doing that please if you can report that page if I get enough people then it can be shut down
@@THEJAYYSHOW I'll try, do you know how to report them? I did it once by going to the scammer's page and finding a tiny menu box, since then I have not been able to find that menu box. So I try to draw attention to them by typing scammer so other people will see it.
@@christinerobinson9372 Just click on those three little dots on the upper right beside your comment, and the 'Report' option will come up.
@@nozecone I've found them a couple times. The trouble is my short-term memory is not what it used to be, and I forget. Send me this message once a week and it might have a chance of making it into long-term memory! But I still enjoy teasing the spammers. Recently, Boz Scaggs told me how much he loves me! I sent back "Oh Darling! Thank You, Spammer!" Shameful, I know!
Love all the Beatles on your channel
A purely whimsical song. Even hall of Fame songwriters can get bored with life's drama.👍😅 As usual your interpretation was right on.
First time I've seen a reaction to this gem. I spent all my summers in the Black Hills, so this has special memories for me
Me too. It’s the first time seeing anyone react to this one.
You hit it on the head. It's maybe one of the silliest tunes ever. It's simultaneously good.
This is one of my Favorite Beatles songs !!!
FINALLY, FINALLY, FINALLY someone reacted to this. THANK YOU!
"Rocky Racoon" was one of my favorite songs when I was a little kid. I came home from school singing it a few times back then, but I didn't know it was from The Beatles at the time and I forgot all about it until I was a teenager listening to the White Album and my dad hearing the song wafting down the hallway asked me about it and reminded me that I used to sing it back when. I think the song is not meant to be taken seriously, but as a fun lark that Paul McCartney wrote after watching westerns on television or what not. The songs on the White Album catch The Beatles at their most eclectic (and in some cases perhaps their most eccentric as well).
The Beatles, if nothing else, were a group of characters. And sometimes, that showed up in their music.
This was such a fun song to sing. Especially when it's your Mom, Dad, and 2 sisters, singing loud 🤣
My childhood....
I think your reaction was the absolute perfect reaction to this song..."Doc, it's only a scratch"...LOL...gotta love the Beatles.
This is One of my favorite Beatles songs!!!!
Thank you!!!
Listen to the words!!!
One of my favorite songs
Thanks much
The way I interpreted the song was that Rocky fell back in his room, found the Bible and changed his life.
Exactly that's I always took it to me it's Paul's best and most powerful song ever
I just watched this again after many months and I just love your facial expressions as much as always. I love that you appreciate this silly side of them. 🥰🥰
It’s impossible not to
Thus is one of my favorites! Thanks, great reaction. Silly but gets you hooked!
A story telling song by McCartney.....I remember Flip Wilson miming Rocky in a skit on Laugh In! 😹
THAT IS THEE BEST BEATLES SONG EVER KNOWN TO MANKIND, PERIOD!
Thank you for playing Rocky Raccoon I really love this song it has been so so long since I've heard this song far out
Unless you grew up in that time, you don't understand how much a Beatles album meant. It was epic. The album cover and what it included. I get you didn't grow up on that, and that's sad. I feel bad for today's kids, they will never feel that joy. For all albums of that time, what a joy to experience them. The album cover was an experience to explore.
LOVE this gorgeous woman!
The Beatles were trolls and goofballs in their spare time 😄 You can hear them having fun in studio outtakes or messing with reporters in early interviews. And occasionally they made silly songs just to make you laugh and smile and just feel good. I think you've done a few, like Yellow Submarine and Why Don't We Do it in the Road. Not sure if you've done Ob-La-Di Ob-La-Da, but that's another fun one you might enjoy!
Well said!
They were geniuses.Period
Rocky Racoon is Paul's version of a story-telling ballad about the Ooooold West.
This displays the genius of the Beatles. They can't be cornered into a type. I bought the album before I heard this cut. I saw Rocky Racoon as one o' the songs... Yer Kiddin'.
Rocky put it all on the line for love.
If you haven't seen Jayys reaction to "Why Don't We Do It In The Road" check it out. It's priceless.
You'll be laughing, crying, dancing and enjoying this double album, should you listen to all of it. I have always loved their personification of animals on 'The White Album' as it is commonly known, no doubt a nod to 'Pet Sounds' by The Beach Boys. They were really writing separately by this time, and arguably made some of their most diverse music. You have a knack for uploading Beatles songs, where it seems most other reactors have trouble; more power to you.
This is one of the greatest songs ever if you have never been in the position of losing your love and being humiliated and heart broken you won't understand the song people in that position get desperate and have desperate thoughts sometimes desperate reactions I always viewed Gideons Bible as something left in places to stay for people that have been through a lot looking for some comfort through the scriptures and rocky finds it while he is heartbroken and physically hurt
Always loved Paul here mimicking an American accent at the beginning.
Don't you just love it!
Love your reactions! Having fun watching you tonight!!! WOW, BEATLES!!
To this day my favorite Beatles song. Thank you.
Paul was a the best story teller songwriter in the band for sure. Check out your boy Ringo's song "Don't Pass Me By" from the same album. Love the reactions ❤
My 4th Grade teacher, Mr. D, forced me to learn this song and sing it for him: thanks Mr. D! Those different song styles: hours of live performances in Germany required a huge catalog of songs and talent…pure, raw talent.
Jayy, great reaction and thanks for playing The Beatles, it’s supposed to be funny
❤❤❤ Rocky Raccoon!!!
I love the White Album. My very favorite of all. A must hear from beginning to end. All kinds of different.
Three quick observations JAYY 1) Your expression when the first tack piano instrumental break played was one of almost wonderment and joy. Like the Beatles had given you another side of their songwriting style that you didn't see coming. Comedy records were very popular to the Beatles when they were all growing up. 2) That was the longest silence after reaction I have seen since your House Of The Rising Sun video 3) You get prettier every day 🥰 Take care, Rick
In the early 60s my little brother who was 5 or 6 at the time had a stuffed raccoon and he named it Rocky! 😂
Next listen to The Beatles Octopus’s Garden.
Love your Trip, Jayy! Keep it up. There is no end....
Oh my gosh Jayy! You've Gotta check The Beatles songs "Maxwell's Silver Hammer" and "When I'm 64". Please. You will be doing yourself a favor for sure!
The Beatles' different sounds, as you put it, are what made them the greatest band ever. My humble opinion. Though many people consider Abbey Road their finest album, I think the shear variety and complexity of music on The Beatles, aka the white album, makes it their magnum opus.
The Beatles never fell into a pattern. Rocky Raccoon is quirky, but that shows the different side of the Beatles
The Double White has ALL the musics avalables. ; )
Probably took 15 minutes to ride it and another five to record it and it gives you that much joy and that amount of time it's the f****** Beatles. Put a smile on your face didn't it?
The best of the best
I love your reactions. 👏
You have one of the best music critique programs on the internet. The thing that sets your show apart is inexhaustiblly fun personality and a diverse selection of music genres.
"...her name was Magill, and she called herself Lil, but everyone knew her as Nancy." (Obviously a working girl.)
Yeah I means It's one of their best albums. I'm not surprised that you're speechless hah
Love it!
Thanks I enjoy your POV
Paul McCartney has a silly sense of humor and this song is a demonstration of that. I get it and I love it. You are not supposed to take this song seriously. You are just supposed to smile when you hear it.
Listen to Revolution # 9 and What a shame Mary Jane had a pain at the party. I have to see your expressions. Jim
If you liked this one, you should listen to The Stones version of "Girl With The Far Away Eyes" or even "Bob Wills Is Still The King". Those Genius Brits have sure got a way with an American Southern dialect or a Texas Drawl. Yee Haw!
Just a song out of the old west with a little Honkey Tonk music . A bit on the light side . " The Doctor came in stinking of Gin ' Smiles permitted .
Yeah, you can laugh.... It is a whimsical song after all
Your reaction was hilarious. I reacted the same way years ago when I first heard it. Another funny, silly song from this same album(the white album) but lead vocals by John Lennon is "The continuing story of Bungalow Bill" 😸
Thank you for reacting to this song! I've been requesting this song to every reactor on you tube for years. I absolutely love this song because it reminds me of my favorite aunt who passed away in 2014 and Rocky Raccoon was her favorite song from her favorite band. Thanks!😁
This was the first song I ever sang on stage at my local pub. It didn’t go down too well but I went on to become a musician for 48 years travelling around the world so I must have done something right, and that’s why this song holds a special place in my heart. Luv ya.
Checkout their song “Maxwell’s Silver Hammer”
This is the era when there were many many many western movies & TV shows 🤣
LOOOOooove this song, Sir Paul McCartney 🪨🦝♥
Lil Nancy McGill
I'm a huge Beatles fan myself.
McCartney said he didn't wanna fall into that trap making the same album over & over. Most bands that have a hit stick to that same formula so they always 'sound the same.'
McCartney & lennon wanted each album to be compleatly different from the last to showcase their talent.
It's called The White Album, but the album's name is The Beatles.
It was just a silly, fun song ...we liked having fun ... music is made to make you feel a certain way ... this one made you feel silly! Losen up, enjoy! God bless you.
Please don’t stop reacting! 😊❤️
This is where Rocket on Guardians of the Galaxy got his name
Thanks for the dive into the Beatles, your reactions are fun! Oh and leave Rocky alone. : )
Parody of Dylan. Loved him.
You have to follow this song with The continuing story of Bungalow Bill.
It s a silly song. Just now thought a good description would be to call it a tall tale.
Love watching your reactions. It's really hard to fathom how old these songs are.
The first song I learned on guitar :-]
The best
Welcome to the White Album where McCartney writes a Beach Boys parody, and a Dylan rambling folk song.
The Beatles had a great sense of humor!
This is a folk pastiche by McCartney inspired by a fireside jam the group and their companions had in India. The song takes its influences from American folk music phrasings and bluegrass instrumentation. Just more genius by Paul McCartney.
hard to believe this song exists......nothing like it since vaudeville. this is the ESSENCE of McCartney.
Back when Westerns were still on TV this was an easy song to understand.
I love that you’re exploring this quirky side of the Beatles. There’s a group of people called the Gideon Society and it was their custom to put a Bible in every hotel/motel room in the U.S.They injected a great deal of humor into their albums. I once won a prize at a Karaoke bar for singing “Rocky Raccoon” all the way through without looking at the teleprompter 😂. Thank you so much honey. I love your channel. It’s ok to be silly. It’s part of a promise they made to each other in their early days not to take themselves too seriously. They believed that if it ever stopped being fun it was time to stop doing it. That was a huge part of why they eventually gave up touring. It just was too much with the screaming girls and out of control crowds. Great video Jayy. Keep em coming 🌺✌️
You must first understand that with the storytelling of this song was in line with the Older Pioneer Western days in America.
Maybe it's just me but I always got this as a side wink to Bob Dylan!
One of my favourite tracks from the White Album
A “Paul Special.” How do you know? John would have NEVER written this LMAO!
I can't believe Rocky Raccoon makes you speechless...it's a silly song. 😁😁😎😎
Welcome to Beatles sideways humor.
Listen to the Beatles Anthology for Rocky Raccoon, fun and funny.
I'm sure you'll have fun.
Great sense of humour as well as great musical talent , Its a "parody " Look it up maybe,
One of the best of their albums together with Sgt Pepper and Abbey Road. Sgt Pepper having the best compiled cover and Abbey Road the most famous and this The White Album just being white? Incidentally many people still stop the traffic on Abbey Road to recreate that famous cover shot on The album. Think the White Album has to be listened to in one sitting though. My favourite tracks being Blackbird, Bungalow Bill and While My Guitar Gently Weeps. (which included Eric Clapton) The cover of which that included Prince (amongst others) for the hall of fame has to be one of the best live covers of it, with 120 mill hits
