I believe the reason two different bolt sizes are used is to prevent the pump being installed backwards. Experienced engineers will use this trick to ensure the product functions when it comes off the assembly line. As a mechanic, it’s a pain to realize you need a different wrench when you are on your back in the middle of a field with no help. Great video. It seems like an easy job, but it’s the little things that you point out that will help the next guy. Cheers

I went to crank my B3350 and the red engine warning light came on after it started up and the throttle wouldn't do anything. My dealer who is pretty good at helping out suggested that because it didn't throw a code it was probably fuel related and not electrical or a catastrophic failure. I changed the filter (it was dirty but wasn't the fix) and then unhooked the fuel pump with tips from your video and made sure it flowed good fuel. It now works perfectly 👌. You saved me at least $1,000.00, thanks!

    Great Video!
When I worked at a well pump company, we used a little silicone on the wires and when the heat shrink would shrink, the connection was waterproof forever.

I have just had a G21 with these exact symptoms. I could hear the pump running but only a small dribble of fuel was coming out of it. The problem was actually a blocked pickup pipe from the fuel tank to the pump. I blew it out and this restored the fuel flow and fixed the fault, lucky.

Not sure why you'd bother with the genuine replacement pump - mine has died with 270 hours on it. Thanks for the info/video - always good to see what I am in for when starting a fix!!

Thanks for the video, I think my fuel pump has just failed. checked fuses & fuel but on turning the key there is no "clickety click" from the fuel pump... & I was wondering where it is & I have the manuals...which are about as useful & practical as tits on a bullfrog. Before leaving I will say 3 other things.... I agree 110% with your comment about hating to have to do anything on a Kubota. What should be a 5 minute fix takes hours,. Prices of parts, from Kubota dealers, are horrendously over-priced & I buy stuff from Ebay for something like 25% off Kubota prices and everything I've bought so far has been solid & works. Lastly, when you chopped of the cable ends I was amazed to see someone using a soldering iron & shrink sleeve which is very un-American...my house verifies this....but there is a 4th aspect...I use my Kubota for grass cutting, lifting (front loader), bush hogging and tilling ground & pulling & shoving stuff & running a box blade....& when it runs it is brilliant & has saved me 10s of thousands of dollars. Working on it is a nightmare....but when it's running it is like a gift from heaven. I've had mine for 5 years & actually love it. It's cost maybe 500 or 1,000 dollars to keep it running but it has been small change in comparison to have someone else do all that work.

Just pull the 2 wires out of the new plug shield and plug them into the new one. Don't cut the plug and have to repair it.

      AKA: de-pin the connector

These pumps go out frequently if it picks up trash from the tank. Make sure the filter is between tank and pump. If not add one NOW! Filter assy is cheaper than pumps.

For the benefit of continuity...your video jumps from engine bay to somewhere underneath the chassis & the fuel pump but you missed the link between the engine & where to start looking for the pump....like, is it on the left or right side or some reference point to relate to so that you can locate it quickly. Sorry, this isn't a complaint but as a viewer of the video, several times, once your camera was underneath....I had no idea where you were....other than underneath..somewhere.

We found an $18.00 Yanmar pump on Amazon that had the correct connector. It did need to be drilled out though.

do you have the link ?

You could have simply removed the electrical spades from the old connector and slid the new ones into it

Kenny Lenart so funny story.....not the fuel pump....had some kind of crap in the tank that found its way to the gas line. Still does it. I just have to once in a while take an air hose to the line where it attaches to the pump and blow backwards ( fuel cap off) and it moves whatever it is out of the way. I will need to one day (after ALL of my other projects get done, and remove the tank. That job looks like it will be a pain.

@@dansreallife I had that happen about 5 years ago on mine
I took it to the shop back then - - charged me a fortune
I'm thinking I'm gonna pull the tank since I already have the rear fender off for replacement
It's not that bad - - a lot of video's tell you to suspend the floorboard / step with a bungie
just take the front two screws out and remove the floorboard / step - - no need to remove pedals since the floorboard is cut to be able to remove it with a little turn here and there
Glad I removed it - found my trans cooler fan (HST fan) was destroyed which would explain why I have been running hot ($5.82 at Messick's online)

Kenny Lenart wow. That stuff always happens to me. Was ripped off at repair shop once and now i always do my own stuff even though often i have no clue what I’m doing. I may attempt to remove my tank after talking to you. Once i get to reclaim my shop when my wife’s green house is finished. :/

by chance did you check if the check valve was working since some pump pick up trash since you can hear it trying to pump fuel. I have used compressed air an blown it out an blew trash on a rag an tested it after words an the pump worked fine. might have saved you some time if you put a filter before the pump later.

In the video the new pump tag read "Electric fuel pump - Yanmar" that should narrow the search. ;-)
