Tell me why they taught me the French Revolution but everything from LA and Mexico I had to learn on my own 😂 to this day knowing anything about the French Revolution has rendered useless
Wow what a long line of fabulous cars. The craftsmanship to detail and reworking each and every one of them. If it matters I appreciate the lowriders and everything that goes into the cars. I'm a little bit different than some of those who appreciate it because I was born and raised in the middle of the country and four-wheel drive. I like them too. But back in the day when I bought my first 63 Chevy ragtop they laughed at me. That's okay who's laughing now! I've been collecting these cars from the 50s and 60s I'm not saying perfect and some of them were pretty close. Been collecting them for many years before and the people had acquired the taste. I read up on the zoot suit riots and I'll read up a little bit more. Thanks for showing the cars
Me and my husband & nephew were there for the 2 day events. We've had the honor of attending this event for the 3rd time. It is a honor to attend. This is in memory of those who were killed during the riots and those who lived and now have gone before us. If you notice some of the first cars have a sticker that says, "funeral " the sticker indicates that it is a funeral procession in memorial to those Zoot suiters who were killed and who have lived and now gone. It is such a beautiful heart felt event. Chato and his wife Shy girl are the organizers of the event and again, it was a honor to meet them. Very humble couple. Beautiful. And I want to say Thank You for this beautiful event. Thank you to all those who work very hard and tired hours you put into this event and those who participated in it. To those who dress for this events. Thank you and God Bless you all❤❤❤❤
Impressive array of period cars. I'm 86 and have been a car nut since around 1948 and recall the rage to add an external custom sun visor. None of the ones in this vid seem from that vintage and the ones seen would be made recently. They are too big fore and aft compared to originals.
well im 81 and actually lived in that part of california in late 50s and again 65-68. lots of clubs with those cars, and we had plenty here in texas. most of the sunvisors i see on the cars look like they belong there, you could get after market for almost any car from the 20s thru the 50s, some look custom and could be what you say but if you were around these cars they also had fender skirts that would fit like from factory or big bubble skirts exaggerated. i was looking for the numbered streets in these parades, i worked at the highest point on first street, for a while it was just known as the first street hill, i worked in the westinghouse building at the top of the hill in downtown LA
This one I’ll definitely go My great grandparent was in the zoot suit riots my great grandfather has passed away but my dad knows all bout the story’s.. My grandpa was a young kid he’s since passed he passed in 86 when I was a teen.. But I’ll definitely go to this one this is dope
I've had friends of mine there dad was a Pachuco days in Los Angeles dog town I used to have a picture of him in zoot suit hanging with his hood on the 1940 just like the movie American me zoot suit riot I grew in Wilmas we had our zoot suits clicka too there's still Bombas cars like these in that neighborhood I'm 74 years old I use to cruise Whittier Blvd in East Los I'm now a soldier of the lord Jesus Christ
The community doesn't have an issue with the cholo cars. They have an issue when the cholos are committing robberies and extortion in the community. Ask around, no one likes the cholos mentality.
Old cars like these had personality . They oozed cool compaired to cars of today . Some look like they have a touch of " Lowrider " in then . I wonder how many had to be resurrected from the boneyard ? " Slow and Low " ! 😊 All in all , a freaking cool parade . 🎉🎉🎉 OK , I admit it , I love 50's Mercurys , when they are custom , my opion is they are hard to beat . Lead Sleds , gotta luv'em !!! I'll wager there are some BAD ASS ENGINES in more than a few rides . 😮😊😊
I really enjoyed this video. I am not the right age nor the right demographic but I still enjoyed it. I did notice the vast majority of these cars were General Motors cars. Mostly Chevy's but I did see some Buicks, Oldsmobiles, and Pontiacs. I saw one Dodge a few Fords, a few Plymouths and some Mercury Lead Sleds. I noticed a Cadillac or two as well.
I'd love to know the history of why the lowrider crowd so overwhelmingly went for Chevys. The Ford flathead V8s had well-known cooling issues which made them suboptimal for "low and slow" cruising, so it may just be that technical matter.
This was an episode in white history that they want whitewashed, Army,Navy and civilian criminals roamed the streets in whut was termed Zoot Suit Riots. Police stood by or participated in violence against the Black and Latinos who espoused wearing pegged pants and wide shouldered or padded jackets. Military and civilian authorities didn't act for several days and nights and no action taken, arrests, trials or any kind of punishment
I wish we had such long Classic Car drives. But I actually drive mine across Country. I am getting ready to drive a loaded 3/4 Ton Studebaker all Original towing a trailer with a 1901 Reproduction Large Curved Dash Olds from California to Missouri.
Glad to see people are retaining the history of the American automobiles however I think those sirens are quite a distraction to the beauty of those cars.
What they should be celebrating is the 79th anniversary of D-Day … I do know of a soldier from White Fence that was killed on the invasion of Europe.. He was a friend of my fathers. My father landed on Normandy in 1944 ..
These cars are called bombs, which consists of American cars mostly made around the 30s-early 50s. They are very popular among the Mexican Ameican car community.
These cars are called bombs, since a lot of them were made around the WWII era and the shape of some of them resemble bombs. The siren is meant to be an air raid siren. I would prefer they did not sound them off, but I still enjoyed the cars nonetheless
I actually got to talk with a much older man once who had been one of the sailors in The Zoot Suit Riots. he said, " we had no business going over there" .
If heaven actually existed, it would look like this. Bombs cruisin as far as the eye can see. Shout out to El Paso, Tx. The real home of the Pachuco/Zoot suiter lifestyle.
Classic rides that are badass and make me proud to be Hispanic. No rap/hip hop music and no bouncing cars with hydraulics making the cars going up and down. It was great to see the Los Angeles Police Department clearing the streets for the cars❤
I tried to go we got up early went to the site but dang it was alot of cars I decided to wait and we messed up cuz there was NOOO PARKING NO WHERE AT MARIACHI PLAZA UGGGH
Thats too bad! We were waiting on the 6th Street Bridge for over two hours because the flyer wasnt specific about when they would be cruising through. We thought they would drive by around 10AM since the flyer said the roll in time was 7‐9:30AM. We didn't know they were gonna be parked on Whittier Blvd until past noon!
Way cooler than any of those cars doing burnouts on that bridge.
Amazing that so many of the old cars still exist, lots of love poured into them. 👍
A few of my uncles still have their's. 🥰
My uncle loves doing the upholstery work to these type of cars, although it's not the only custom upholstery work he does.
Until they break down on you at a red light
What a day. Beautiful rides from mi Gente. Absolutely the best Cruise for this Memorial. L.A. all the way. May God Bless Mi Gente.
I'm not a fan of that period of cars, that being said it doesn't mean I don't appreciate these cars. This spectacle is pure Badass!!
Not my favorite either, but like you said, this is badass.
This is some of the stuff they don't teach in class that's apart of this country's history on the west coast! The Zoot Suit Riots💯✊🏿🙏🏿
I learned it in school.
Chicano Studies
You know what else they don’t teach is that the zoot suit is from a hallucinogen form of paint and glue sniffing.. for real
Show up wearing one after receiving a draft card and go work at the shipping dock.
Zoot suit culture involved blacks and Latino in 1930
Tell me why they taught me the French Revolution but everything from LA and Mexico I had to learn on my own 😂 to this day knowing anything about the French Revolution has rendered useless

The cylinder devices on the passenger windows on some of the cars...it looks like a large tube...are those air conditioners?
@@oneanddone7992 yup, you are correct
@@oneanddone7992 Sort of, but not a compressor mechanism. Google "Swamp Cooler" for how they worked.

so cool, some arent my taste (sirens, stereos 'n bags) but such a great gathering, well done...
I understand, it's impossible to go to a bomb/lowrider show without someone sounding off their sirens. Cool to see them cruising nonetheless 😎
Low & slow is the way to go! Sweeeet rides! And never forget the reason for this cruise.
Beautiful 🙏💕🌹
