@@Johnny-Josephdoesn’t make much sense either, he’s one of the best rated panelists they’ve had after the all timers like Mortimer and Davies, I’ve never read a single negative comment on any of his WILTY clips (or his Balamory videos)
Just when I thought I could not love Miles more, he “does words” when he “should have done numbers”. As a wordsmith who is pretty much functionally innumerate - by choice - I heartily applaud his choice. ❤😂
I am seeing Miles Jupp on 25th February in Brighton, and I am really looking forward to it. Hopefully, Rob Brydon will resist the urge to turn up and constantly interrupt him 😅
Doesn't it depend if they're just spazzing out of flailing and you need to stop them hitting themslves as they flail so you contain them to prevent them banging about and hurting themselves ..my cousin has seizures but you'd hardly know she was having one unless she's standing up and then she might look like she's fainting but at least on tv they flail around like mad. I does it even make any difference?
I won't spare your feelings, any more than Rob spares those of Miles, but I'll honour your obviously great sense of humour by suggesting that these two can sparr, and that they're sparring here, and not sparingly, either. 😅
I think Rob needs to brief his guests more before the show. He clearly wants to do a very lighthearted discussion, and recoils at any depth or meaningful chat. This and the Anton Du Beke interview were so painful because Rob wants to make a joke out of everything is ill-equipped at dealing with the more real chat. I like Rob but this was just hard work.
Miles fed him that set up about how nice it was to be directed by actors ... That was delightful. (I'm disappointed the YT algorithm didn't feed this to me sooner. Definitely subscribed. Need to check status of notifications.)
Love Miles so witty and quick Loved him on the news quiz with Jeremy Hardy (great comedian loved him too) and later as host of this show Please do an European tour 🤩
I adore Miles Jupp and wanted to hear what had happened to him. Rob Bryson could learn a lot from Mike Fenton Steven’s interview technique on his My Time Capsule podcast.
i haven't seen that podcast, but I disagree with your implicit criticism of Rob Bryden (note the spelling, by the way - he's not Bill Bryson) and his interviewing style. These are much more like a conversation between two friends than a hard-core journalistic interview, and I find them both informative and - more to the point - entertaining. None of his guests seem to be overwhelmed by the format of these podcasts, and, I suspect, that is why they agree to be on them.
Ok, halfway through, and this is the only interview Rob has done where I'm not going to finish it. Rob, you were interrupting far too much on this occasion
I think it must be because he has far greater familiarity with Miles than other guests. It was well done in many parts but a bit overbearing in others.
I normally enjoy Brydon & but I couldn’t finish this one due to the constant biting, infantile interruptions from Rob. Miles showed a great deal of patience and professionalism during this one, unlike his host.
Does mr brydon pump iron immediately before taking to the sofa, here? Any gravity of chat was dismissed by the overt performance from rob's neck muscles and sinews..in short, an ecconomy arnie...
Two friends ( who both happen to be comedians by profession) just riffing off each other, it was fun . People need to get over themselves. They are friends and we cant just listen to 30 minutes of dark times in the operating room FFS !!!
I'm of a not dissimilar age to Miles and in late June I had an incident: a pulmonary embolism. No idea how the somewhat large clot had got there nor whence it had come. I was treated wonderfully well in a Public Hospital, and now, being good about my meds, I'm on the mend... after being potentially close to being - NOT. I liked Miles' reflections on his circumstances. It's a pity I'll likely miss his show (unless it happens to 'somehow' follow a cricket tour to Queensland). Unlike Joaquin, I am News Quiz tragic, of a certain period [late Toksvig through the Judd years, first question for five points, time starts NOW] and I think I would have embarrassed myself asking my abiding question: "No, really, between us, how much of a bully & a brute was Jeremy Hardy when the Recording Light went off?" (ooh, do tell) 😀
Boswell's Lives, starring Miles, is as funny a radio comedy series as has ever been made - some episodes are on CD, there are about 12 in all, everyone should hear it.
Watch Rob Brydon ask questions of Miles Jupp for 30 minutes and not let him answer with more than 3 or 4 words before interrupting him. It’s the strangest interview technique I’ve over seen.
Well he’s talking to his friend about a very serious medical issue. I’d be overcompensating with jokes to hide my sadness too (for the sake of a podcast I mean, I’m sure neither of them wanted it to be half an hour of darkness)
Usually he does a good interview but I think because it's a friend and a serious situation, he's just trying to make light. That doesn't make it less annoying. Miles is a smart and funny guy, let him speak!
@@timwilks666 I really enjoy Rob a lot, but I enjoy Miles even more, and would have loved to have got an idea of the essence of the man and what he went through. The interview should always, without fail, be about the subject and this wasn't.

There are guests where Rob knows not to do it , and it doesn't suit the guests personality He gets annoying when the jibes feel more like neediness, than part of regular flow between friends and colleagues

Rob, I enjoy these videos, but I’m noticing you interrupting your guests more and more, trying to get cheap laughs at the expense of the flow of the conversation. The impact of this is that the podcasts seem to be more about you rather than the guests. Sorry for being critical, but that seems better than not watching the videos.
