Spectalur set and truly cinematic action. Bravo!
Many thanks and for your continued support .
Thanks for another stunning example of how your group approaches narrative and operational historical wargaming. Perhaps I have missed it in older videos, but I would be very interested in a more detailed breakdown of the operational planning for each side from the initial research through the assets created and provided to arrive at a comprehensive execution strategy for an example mission.
@@jerrettwells3377 I'm certain our most humble host will probably enlighten everyone on the behind the scenes wrangling in a wrap up video when the campaign ends. There are probably some things he will not divulge right now. I was the guy who planned the raid for the French. I had limited intelligence that the vessel had arrived in that port, and I had a desire to take posession of that vessel for my own reasons (related to my duties on the Blue force). As a former Airborne Infantry senior NCO, the actual raid planning was fairly quick and easy. I used the U.S. Army 5 paragraph OPORD after compiling all the available data on the enemy situation, location, tides, weather, etc. I organized a cutting out party with some special equipment and a few identified members with special tasks. The planning included signals to execute withdrawal or a change of mission. I provided for a couple of contingencies, and then ran my plan up to the Commander. He concurred, and made one or two clarifications. Then I hit send on the slides, and quietly waited until the effective turn. It wasn't a huge success, but we have some lessons learned - and we deprived the Axis of an important asset.

Great question and thanks….Restless ramblings has put it well .Our system is built for many things but a key reason is to develop critical thinking through planning. I posit that lack of Planning in wargames is the elephant in the room. Our system is developmental but based on the idea that planning needs to be a process in any wargame and that we are exploring the five point plan to create say an OPORD for wargaming . This is also linked to tasking and both operational and tactical planning and performance are also scored. That said is no one way to plan but players should ensure they address key aspects in their plans.they are free to ask the umpire any questions and seek advice from teammates. The only caveat is that with such freedom of action plans must be based on contextual historical or doctrinal evidence if they are trying to do something very left field. Research is part of planning also and helps the player explore and improve his plan. Basic COA analysis is also encouraged too. Please feel free to PM me below and happy to run through it all, but much of this will all be addressed in our book e shall write one day after we have finished the series in which we hope to explain it all more clearly. Hope that helps and thanks for your support and best wishes.
Kinda wish that went a bit better, but we learned a lot for future operations. Alas, this is how the Commandos cut their teeth, too.
I thought it a great game and one of the most interesting we have done at this level so far.
Many early war special operations went awry just look at the LRDG and SAS. Lashings of keenness to be at the enemy but in many cases these operations lacked good intel which might have made a big difference.
The French planned very well indeed but they had no idea the vessel was intact and German Vessel with tough and experienced crews nor that the enemy was well prepared. That said they destroyed the target although Jerreau and many hands were lost…
More marine action in due course I sense.
@@militarywargaming7840 Absolutely the Marines will be in action again soon :-)
Great game!
Cheers and many thanks for your support. Best wishes
Fantastic game
Cheers and thanks very much for your support. Much ahead
Portez aircraft? Nah, fam. Name's Potez.
Quite right thanks. A bit of a race throughout this episode and a few errors but one day I’ll get a perfect voice over and text. Got the commando designation wrong too as they were the 6th troop in the 1st special service. Hey Ho but thanks for your support
