  • Ok, finished fitting the new 12v generator conversion to my KMZ K750M engine case yesterday.
I've not drilled the new conversion holes yet, as I'm waiting until I have fitted the crank and camshaft, that way I can make any ajustments if need be, before I drill the new bolt holes..
Looks good - here's a short video showing a few different stages of removing the 6v support bracket, and fitting the new 12v generator in place.

How would you seal the openings which became exposed after you removed original generator mount. And also how would you secure the 12 v adaptor for the generator

Hi Victor. after I removed the 6 volt support, I then had to get the adapter to fit. The guy from Vostock Motorcycle said the adapter fits stright in - but it doesn't, so you have a file it down a bit to get it to go in.
But one I got the adpator to fit, I had to mark the holes and drill through the casing. Once I was happy I had it set right, and then used BJ weld to set it all in place.
The prablem I had, once you fit the gearing to the alternator, and then fit it in place, you cannot tell it you have got a set perfect, untill you run the engine and then check the gearing to see if it is alined ok. I also used a paper gasket to fit on the alternator to seal it with the engine case.
However, having said all that above, I wouldnt do this convertion again - as it's not worth the hassle. I wish I had just got a 6volt conversion that as 12 volt within it. You can get a hold of them, you just after look on the internet or post something on facebook forum and ask if anyone as done it.
I hope this help. cheers Jeff

@@JeffRoberts-KMZKM-Restoration quick question on that, so we have a old car (1927 Buick) and I’d like to modify the stock starter generator to output BOTH 6V AND 12V, this has been done before w the 12V side putting out about 20 amps which is all I’d need! Any idea how this is done?
I don’t know which way to start however I really would like to do this so I can have the car side of things run off of 6V as it is supposed to but also have a 12V side to run modern lights, turn signals, charge cell phones, charge a hidden Bluetooth speaker! Again any guidance you can provide sure would be appreciated Jeff!

@@TreadTalk247 So I would say, if your car runs on 6 volt via a pully and you are happy with that. Then might you fit a bigger pully - and a tensioner so the belt goes around both the 6 volt and a 12 volt, which would both run indepentantly of each other. Something simular, like a fan belt going around a alternator and your water pump.
