I don't think SIR DAVID JASON still realises how much of an impact he has made on British life! From blokes my age 43 to 17 year olds (my kids) he brings tears to their eyes!! Amazing timeless TOPMAN!!!
To me this is the epitome of the bitter sweet nature of human life. The bitter, Ronnie and so many others including Trigger, Blakey, Arthur(George) and dear Cilla are dead. Granville Del Boy is old, as are Rodney (Nicholas Lyndhurst) and Terry (Dennis Waterman) While Brucie is just prehistoric. It was only yesterday that they were all young and beautiful, and THEN it was oh so sweet. Thanks to them all for the joy.
+anonUK lol.....maybe beautiful on the inside. It was very sad to see Bruce referring to Cilla as a "girl" on her recent passing. Those old troupers had that warmth and homeliness about them. My current favourite is Bradley Walsh. They're sometimes corny, but funny. A recent (old) Bradley one, was talking about the actor Peter Cushing proposing to Whoopi Goldberg. She would have accepted, but realised she'd become Whoopi Cushing.
I can't make you, but I would like you to stop expressing those moronic views. Your comments on other videos are irrelevant, you're right, irrelevant to anyone with a shred of intelligence. What would your 'hero' say if he heard you saying that?
Nick Archer No, you've twisted what I've said. My views and comments ARE relevant in the right places, like video's that co inside with such topics which trigger me into sharing my views...but this is not one of them so please, don't create a debate where there doesn't need to be one. theres plenty of other video's I've commented on that you can add your comments if you wish. This video, your comment just seems to come across as looking for an argument. And I'm not worried about what good old Sir David Jason would say because I'm pretty confident he's never going to get to know who I am. That being said, it wouldn't make a difference if he ever did because I would be content enough with agreeing to disagree anyway. And just because I admire a particular actor because I respect what skills and abilities he shares with society doesn't mean I have to change my whole personality to confirm my sincerity towards him. I like the guy and I've bought into his career. That has nothing to do with my political views. If it ever came up were we were possibly going to ever stand against each other politically, I wouldn't stand down just because it was him in opposition. My respect for him as an actor is huge. But politically, my perspective on him and other people I admire could always change. But people like him stay out of the political arena because they tend to know that attaching themselves to a type of politics would make them vulnerable to attack from opposition which would potentially damage their reputations. So I reckon he stays away from that in order for people who like the guy to continue to like the him whilst he continues to keep his political views hidden away. It's probably the smart thing to do. I however, don't have a life that depends on public status and respect, therefore, I share my views wilfully, regardless of what you or anybody else thinks because I'd rather share my perspective and trigger debates on what has been such a taboo topic for a long time now. Especially for people like me because all's I get it abuse and I hardly ever get a civil response, which means I'm not the one with the problem.
Its such a shame that people with poisoned minds such as yourself exist, the sad part is people like you are so sure you're right, usually due to being very insecure people deep down, putting up an iron front.
He's so talented in the best comedies too, Open all hours and no one else could have played Del wouldn't have been such a loveable character! Darling buds of may he made that show too and he has done children's cartoon voices such as; Duckula and wind in the willows!
agree with a couple of comments on here , it will be absolutely devastating when sir David passes on , he looks great for his age though, no matter when he is gone too like the others from only fools , John sullivan the writer of only fools , Roger Lloyd pack who passed from pancreatic cancer , del boy will always live on ..... x. He seems a really polite, cheery , down to earth fella too x .
I've just ordered the new book and I can't wait to read it. We have the whole collection on dvd of Only Fools And Horses and can't stop laughing every time we watch them. British comedy has always been the best to us.
This interview is a fascinating study of micro expression.(just pause the video at times when the camera is on David at the start) for eg..he looks well fed up., tight lipped smile appearing when he sees the camera on him..probably bored with the prospect of questions hes been asked umpteen times before. Then, after the biography question.. Philip mentions his electrician job, before he went into acting, This is, for David, an question he probably hasnt been asked much before, as other researchers might not have been so thorough ..suddenly his whole manner changes..hes animated, joking and smiling genuinely and a lot more relaxed about it all.. Great man, Great talent. and this is a good example of how a host can make an interviewee more relaxed.
legend. great actor. only fools and horses brilliant comedy show, great story. i have the complete collection on dvd which i got as a gift one xmas. love it.
I love David Jason and all he has accomplished. He's a brilliant actor and I hope he does many more wonderful things. Oh, he could be doing with some herbal eye-drops though.
Thank you David for giving this interview, after a hard days work I still look forward to sitting down with a cuppa and unwinding with an Episode of OFAH........as they say Quality is timeless and you have proved it !
The book is an excellent read, and it cleared up a couple of misconceptions about Sir David. The icing on the cake is that I met him a few years ago. What an absolute gent.
I would have been delighted to have read the book BEFORE interviewing Sir David Jason about his book, these people Holly and Phil should HAVE read the book!!!!
I still cry laughing at the episode where Del boy is on the quiz show 'gold rush' & he gets asked the question 'what state was jfk in when he got assisanated' & he replies (something along the lines) 'Well, he was in a terrible state'!... Priceless 😂😂
If I could meet my hero (RONNIE barker is dead) then it would be SIR DAVID! "I would like to start the bidding at £150,000 " Del Boy faints I piss myself laughing so do my kids and my parents!! Happy days!!!
How the heck can someone interview David Jason without reading his book...anyway..it isn't about the interviewers..it's about David Jason..and thanks for uploading this! This is very very cool!
As David said ' I wrote this book because I don't like being ripped off' This is just him plugging a book, you can bet your life his closest friends the flying instructors and what they got up to in his house is not mentioned in the book
I bought his autobiography and my dog who was a puppy at that time ripped it up the very next day!!! She done my George Orwell’s 1984 also at the same time, I’ll have to get them again soon:
Ronnie Barker must have been proud of his early TV series with David Jason as his errand by in the program Open Hours. Perhaps Sir David would like to comment on my words. Having watched the TV series or 'Only Fools and Horses' I think Ronnie Barker would have been ideal as a fellow marketeer in products that were inferior.
lol! Only fools openly talked about sex without going into detail. It's hardly a kids show. And when you say gritty, you're right. You're talking in a completely different context.
For goodness sake the lady seems bored.... What the heck... I would die for just shaking hands with David Jason... Or ronnie corbett ... That would be like winning the lottery
If I got to shake hands with Sir David that would be my life complete, If someone said here is a free sixty minutes how would you like to spend it, easy. A pot of hot tea, two easy chairs and sit and have a good chat with Sir David, I would die a happy man.
He's flogging a book not giving an interview, he did 3 or 4 like this and said the same thing each time. Collect the fee for the interview and plug a book. The reason certain celebs aren't seen in interviews is because the fee is small, they only do them to raise their profile because they think people have forgotten them or they want to sell a book. No other reasons, for most of them it's a chore, they sooner you pay 20 quid to find out something about them then tell it for free to an interviewer. Just a couple of hints about what's in the book to get the fools taste buds wet
Sir David has said he is looking at a script by John's sons and if it is up to scratch there is a slight chance he would do it, Apparently it centre's around Dels sixty fifth birthday
Alba Productions I am a HUGE fan of OFAH but for me personally I am not sure this is such a good idea, for me OFAH ended in 1996 with 'Time On Our Hands' I was never one for the specials between 01-03
I was very surprised when John Sullivan brought them back after Time on our hands as he always said he wanted to finish the story by making them millionaires, I heard he wanted to do a thirtieth special but sadly died before he could devise the script. I would definitely like to see David Jason and Nicholas Lyndhurst do something together again, maybe John's sons could write something of their own for them and produce it through Shazam productions.
Alba Productions If this is true, I'd be ecstatic about it. If OFAH doesn't come back, Open All Hours will as I hear that Roy Clarke was thinking about bringing it back for a whole series this year, if the Christmas special was a success (and it was - the most watched show of that week).
***** I Agree Still Open all Hours was excellent Sir David hasn't lost the Granville touch. The only thing that worries me if they bring back OFAH is that John Sullivan's two boys can still produce the magic, John could have you falling off the furniture with laughter one minute then reduce you to tears the next. the way John wrote the funerals for Granddad and Albert was true genius as was Rodney's wedding when Del was alone in the hall the audience was reduced to tears, John showed us that under all of Del's show he was still vulnerable.
I don't think SIR DAVID JASON still realises how much of an impact he has made on British life! From blokes my age 43 to 17 year olds (my kids) he brings tears to their eyes!! Amazing timeless TOPMAN!!!
+Gee Dog British? Im from Serbia and these guys are legends here. You have writings on the wall that says 'Serbia is Peckham

Absolute legend and a one off. Glad to live in your time David. Thank you del, pure legend 👍
An outstanding actor. Arguably one of the best this country has ever seen. Has anyone read his autobiography as well? Was it a good read?
I read it, I enjoyed it. He does make quite a few jokes throughout.
UsagiDreamsReturns He's one of my hero's. Such a fantastic and talented guy.

What a legend
The other thing was as he said he was an electrition by trade, so he was a true working class person and seems to be truly down to earth
You are welcome :)
As David said ' I wrote this book because I don't like being ripped off' This is just him plugging a book, you can bet your life his closest friends the flying instructors and what they got up to in his house is not mentioned in the book

Hello
count duckula, brilliant,i think igor was the character actor in a touch of glass.
I bought his autobiography and my dog who was a puppy at that time ripped it up the very next day!!! She done my George Orwell’s 1984 also at the same time, I’ll have to get them again soon:
Buy them for e book perhaps next time?!
great actor as del boy says he who dares wins
Likes to 'keep his personal life private' the exact moment his Twitter name came up
All of the people Sir David mentioned did come back to SOAH.
Such a shame there will be no more "Only Fools" ever. :(
It is, but the last three episodes weren't up to the standard of the others in my opinion. Sad that its gone, but glad that it can't get worse now.
Actually Never say never.
Apparently they are filming new episodes now, with same actors.
derbigpr500 I know so happy they are filming new episodes.
+antsman88 They weren't as good as the layer xmas specials but they were as funny as anything in the first four seasons.
Ronnie Barker said that making Open All Hours was one of the most happiest times of his Life.
I was grocery delivery boy when I was 14 years of age.
The best Toad too.....
Legend
hard to believe David jason almost wasn't cast as del boy.
gary
tommy 1108 xD
I see in this interview he says NO to a Only fools and horses comeback, but they are filming it i heard? comic relief? what changed his mind?
He IS Del Boy :P
'Viva la france' as the italians say
Could say that Open all Hours was "gritty" in a different context , it had sexual innuendos flying all over the place.
lol! Only fools openly talked about sex without going into detail. It's hardly a kids show. And when you say gritty, you're right. You're talking in a completely different context.
For goodness sake the lady seems bored.... What the heck... I would die for just shaking hands with David Jason... Or ronnie corbett ... That would be like winning the lottery
what ? she doesnt look bored at all, she seems very interested in what he has to say. what are u on about ?
If I got to shake hands with Sir David that would be my life complete, If someone said here is a free sixty minutes how would you like to spend it, easy.
A pot of hot tea, two easy chairs and sit and have a good chat with Sir David, I would die a happy man.
Bored? More like she was just loving listening to this wonderful veteran actor.
