    Hi Dereck. Your remark around 'Fast Changes' made me look up that song. What a nice discovery. I think it's very beautiful. This is one of these things I like about your channel. Good taste, good recommendations, and speaking from the heart. Bravo. Have a lovely day.

    Hello Dereck, I hope that you're doing well. I have to go watch that InGroove video, this hit home for me. A year & a half ago my wife left, and insisted that it was just a temporary separation. In the end, I filed for divorce last November, but we decided to get back together in the end, we're still living apart now but plan to move back together. I am so torn. We've been married for 26 years and together for 29 years. The struggle is real.

    Hey, Dereck Thanks for answering my questions and I'll now start looking into the music you were talking about. I listened to the David Bowie release and I enjoyed the album a lot it's a cool album. I now see people talk about the Seal Album. As a kid, I only remember the song Kiss from a Rose because of the Batman movie. But I keep hearing it's better than that song. So I'll have to sit and take a good listen. Thanks for all the recommendations. Now I have new music to listen to. Also just keep being you Dereck. That's why we watch your videos. You just being yourself and showing people more music that none of us would have known about without your help and experience. If others don't like it why even bother watching? LOL, I'll never understand people like that. Thanks again Dereck.

    Saw Seal do that album last year all the way through with my mom. Its an album we listened to alot around the time of her divorce/cancer treatment i was all of 6 or 7 during that time. We listened to that album non stop around that time. He sounds exactly like he does on record.
    Im with you about archival releases, if i like an artist i almost wanna hear everything they recorded there might be something i like in there

    Happy belated birthday to Todd Rundgren, genius songwriter. His beautiful and atypical chord choices helped me grow as a musician

    Dear Derek, I enjoy your show everyday. My son, Bill out of Asheville, NC turned me on to you. I saw a comment about Todd Rungren..I saw Todd at the University of South Carolina back in 1973..I was writing for the Gamecock the schools newspaper and they wanted me to review the show. What can I say Todd was brilliant he had a hit record out Hello, it's me...I will never forget him and his band we were out all night having fun. Needless to say I didn't go to 1 class the next day. Thanks Todd

    I also am glad i picked up the Bowie record after missing out on the record store day release. Tracks are interesting, and worth hearing and having. Holy holy was a standout for me. Vinyl sounded really quiet and nice. Was worried it would suck like some rsd releases i got burned on.

    I grew up listening to thrash metal and industrial thanks to my older brother. He also found an ear for those first 2 Seal albums so I have a lot of fond memories anchored to Seal's early music. Prayer for the Dying is one of my favorites.

    Lou Reed would have been backed by the Everyman Band then.

    I think Metal Machine Music was 75, and was meant to be a big Fuck You to the music business, his contractual obligation album. But he deserves credit for White Light/White Heat, recorded in 67. John Cale has said that a lot of it was Reed's input, like I Heard Her Call My Name, which I admit is nearly unlistenable, but it's definitely leading edge noise rock. I was also much more into early Faust.

    • @sspbrazil
      @sspbrazil 3 місяці тому

      It was 75, not 73 as Dereck stated.

    Faust is listening music. "Metal Machine Music" sucks. Lou Reed in concert was terrible, 1995, MPLS. He played two great songs and otherwise put the crowd to sleep. At one point I was the only person still awake in my party, just forty minutes into the performance. The drummer kept putting glitter on his drum kit. One superfan stood in front row and waved his hands around for two hours. Weird show.

    As I have said before Faust is one of my favorite groups. To bad you lost the art pieces to So Far. Sorry to harp on it but I questioned you about Faust New Gods, does the group have any member of the original Faust. The music is very much Faust but has rap lyrics. I am not very interested in rap but find it quite listenable.✌️❤
