I'm so honored you showed my . You're program, insight and help over the last 2 years has been incredible. Not only did you help me achieve my goals in painting, ( still growing), but you have changed the way I think about painting. I know I'm heading in the right direction for me. You have been my GPS, lol.❤

This was such a simple yet a super helpful video in helping me clarify my current desires as a painter.

Someone recently shared that your mindset is critical at each step/phase no matter your path. Instead of framing everything as “I wish/hope/want” change it to “I will…”. I’m finding myself getting past obstacles in my own life as a result of this minor mental adjustment.

I don't know why but this portrait reminds me of a J.W Waterhouse than a Bougueureau.

I would love to enjoy your channel but all I see is you painting something while you talk about an esoteric topic. I guess that I am one of those people who needs the words to match the actions. It feels like I am listening to someone TELL me how to build a house but not SHOW me how to build a house. Sorry.

What would you like to have her demonstrate?

Yeah, it seems the title of the video is what she doesn't actually talk about. LOL.

I'm a landscape painter (and a printmaker). I really don't care for portraiture much. I wish you could demonstrate a loose style of landscape painting. Thanks.

She is a portrait painter who paints in oil, but the ideas that she is presenting are universal.
I don't paint in oils and portraits show up periodically in my work, but I think what she presents is extremely valuable, no matter what or how you paint
There are many landscape painters on youtube.

Sorry, but it is starting to sound like your videos are simply lead in's to some form of this: "This solution to the problems you are experiencing as a painter/artist is to sign up for a one on one mentoring program with me."

      @tychohallsen 7 місяців тому

"Sorry", but it sounds like you think your opinion about how someone else conducts their business means something.
A mentoring program could very well be someone's solution.
Most people have problems seeing where they're in their own way and/or how to work with it.
Maybe her content isn't helpful for you. You don't have to be here, you know?

I think what I am stuck with the most is that I have been working in jobs where I get paid to do stuff that I am mediocre at best instead of being able to offering my actual skills to improve the lives of the people around me.
It'S better now than it was a few years ago and I work on finding a solution in which i have both the security of regular income and heath insurance as well a way to use my skills. where I can paint during day time and don't get sick so often because of the scheduling issue of working a full-time job and then paint during the night. I know a lot of people have to deal with this and even have other responsibilities like caring for children or family members...I am not special in that regard...but it's still exhausting and sometimes I just don't have the mental energy to be conscious during the painting process or to be courageous with my art to experiment.

Can you teach us more about painting with acrylics? You always paint with oil and you then mix the colors on the canvas beautifully because that is possible with oil paint. But that is not possible with acrylic. Next to that, I only have acrylic.... And oil paint is also unhealthier, at least that's what I've heard. Can you perhaps help using the qualities of acrylic?

Yeah all the videos out there are all on oils. I was doing acrylics and was frustrated because you can not transfer any of the info and techniques to acrylics. I just did my first two oils and I really like them. The oil paint is not toxic. The solvents are. A little research and I was pretty comfortable making the transition. I love that I can mix colors and the they don't harden in 10 minutes. I can come back the next day and the colors are still there workable. there are a lot of pluses to oils. Just a thought.

Oil is only toxic if you use turpentine and other solvents. I'm allergic to pretty much all solvents so I don't use them. There are non toxic solvents now, and if you want you can start the first layer in acrylic and the rest of the layers in oil, I have been doing this for years now. Also FYI acrylic is a byproduct of petroleum, so while you might think it's safer, it's really not 100% safe and it's bad for the environment.
