I am currently studying this piece and you make it sound so lovely and apparently simple, but the expression you get is amazing. Very good playing but I'd question the slow tempi of the Chopin nocturnes. There is a limit to how slow you can play these pieces, especially at the beginning of the first two before forward motion is compromised

    • @gabithemagyar
      @gabithemagyar 4 роки тому +1

      I agree. Obviously an extremely accomplished pianist but for my own taste the first nocturne was a bit slow and the use of rubato seemed a little haphazard i.e. unnatural in relation to the melodic movement (hard to put into words).

    • @rossfletcher2724
      @rossfletcher2724 4 роки тому +2

      @@gabithemagyar Accomplished technically but he needs to learn a bit more about the music. As you say the rubato bore little relation to the musical flow - you can't just slow down anywhere, it has to make musical sense. The halting beginnings to the first two pieces seemed overdone which I found particularly irritating. He also needs to develop a dynamic plan even in the slower sections. Every pianist is entitled to bring his/her own interpretation but pieces as well-known as these have accepted norms which you ignore at your peril

    • @pmlouisjuste

      @@gabithemagyar I wonder what you think of Nocturne Op. 48 No. 1 by Pogorelich (easy to find here on YT) ?. This is really extreme. The tempo is almost twice as slow, music virtually falling apart to separate notes, but still an amazing interpretation, in my view ...

      Hello Emilia. Can we just point out that it seems a bit unfair and rude to say that the program is "stupid". A lot of work went into the recording of this recital, so while we appreciate that everyone has different taste, we ask you to respect the musician & his team. Feedback is always welcome here at Halidon (including criticism), but it has to be positive and constructive otherwise it won't do anyone any good. Thank you.

      Everyone is entitled to their opinion, and there's nothing wrong with stating that the program didn't meet your taste. We respect that; we just think it's important to weigh words carefully. Criticism can be an opportunity for growth, but we should all keep in mind that there's real people behind these uploads. Just like you wouldn't want somebody telling you your work is "stupid", please respect the musicians that have worked a lifetime to achieve these results and have made their work freely available to you. If you have any suggestions for the next recital (pieces you'd like to hear etc.) you're welcome to share them with us, of course. Thank you for understanding and we appreciate your apology.
