If you want to know what the movie's Oscar plans are, watch distributor Rana Dagubatti talk about them, here - ua-cam.com/video/H6u7kKrD6DY/v-deo.htmlsi=2Qna2vVdUS5inJW4
The conversation around Azaadi got me crying. Nothing touches me more than hearing women talk about that.. any word, any pause or any expression that comes up is gold.
hearts so full ... what a great joy filled conversation .. all five of you are so distinct, as women, yet each holds her own so gently and beautifully while equally allowing space to the other(s) ... the rhythm and flow and camaraderie so infectious - could be felt all the way here in Pakistan ... may we all nurture each other, and be nurtured through the process ourselves ... tap into our incredible collective power .. 'I am because you are'
What a wasted opportunity by not sending this movies to Oscars, this movie already had all the hype, publicity after winning at Cannes would have easily been in the nomination list without much efforts, even "Parasite" (2019) got the Academy's attention only after winning at Cannes.
The sad reality is there was no producer to back up to release this movie in India. Rana did it. I wish studios would have backed this movie and marketed well to send it to Oscars. I am sure if Aamir could do with Laapata Ladies, a good studio could have done with this movie too.
Took my breath away. Watched it yesterday at the Tiff Lightbox. @Sucharita I’d love to watch you do an interview with Ranabir. The cinematography was stunning.
I was so looking forward to watching the movie. I went to theatre today. I didnt quite like the movie. Found it boring. I have started to doubt my taste in movies which i was once proud of. However, all the best to the team.
That’s perfectly alright though. Not everyone will agree on movies, that’s the nature of art. Feel it in your own way, and let it talk to you. If it doesn’t, it doesn’t :)
This movie had a very good chance of getting the oscar. As usual the representatives responaible for judging and sending the most worthy movies are just clueless or just playing politics..
