Well, tbf the one where you "just" spin the wheel is essentially the original board game with pretty graphics. And while I'd say if I look for "Game of life" I'd expect the simple game, I have to say that this version seems superior obviously.
The original definitely has less choices and interesting things happening, but in terms of video games I think they added some gang beasts style challenges and "fights" to the western version.

It's sad how lackluster and uncreative the official modern games are in the US, and I wouldn't be surprised if they were just mobile games ported to different consoles quickly to make a buck off the IP given the lack of interest. I'm surprised why Hasbro never thought of localizing any of the Jinsei Game titles as "The Game of Life" games. Especially given their name could be found on several entries of the games during the late 90s-2000's. One of the entries of the series, Special Jinsei Game, was even created by Infogrames, which was a western developer.
