I've got ADHD as well but it's managed with medication. I've been with my local paid-on-call fire department for 4 years now and working for my FD Captain's small home renovation business for 3 years now. Granted, I'm aware that the symptoms and severity vary from person to person. I drive my coworkers nuts on the days that I don't remember my meds, but they all seem to be fairly understanding because most of them are also diagnosed with ADHD, although theirs is of lesser severity than mine.
Curious from looking at your profile, i see only structure fires. Does your department not run medicals as much? Im sure MVC's and such are also on your "Response list" but not much point responding in a POV.
That’s a good question. I’m a paid operator that responds off duty to working structure fires, working vehicle fires and manpower requests because we are short handed. Occasionally I’ll respond to a CPR or extrication off duty if I’m in the area but those calls don’t last long enough for me to respond from my house because I live in the next city over. About 80% of our calls are medical calls but I just don’t respond off duty to them.
@@RyanW-mj9lu we’re not allowed to respond with lights and siren in our POV’s to a MVC or medical call, unless there’s CPR in progress or extrication out of the vehicle is needed. By the time CPR or extrication is confirmed, the call is halfway over and there would most likely be no need for me to go off duty since I live in the next city over.
@@treycamardelle I was asking him. Not you. Our district is 120 sq miles. We may beat a truck to scene by 10 minutes depending where scene is. Great time for size up and information…. Waste of time to drive to station to grab truck or sit there cuz a truck already left.
@@RyanW-mj9lu oh sorry I thought you were asking me. Our department is more of a city department with mostly paid operators and firefighters with only a handful of volunteers
What vehicle are you driving and kind of Light setup do you have?
I have videos of my light setup on my channel. Check them out, I’m driving a 2015 Ram 1500 ecodiesel.
@@treycamardelle I thought the hood looked familiar, but wasn't sure lol. Its also nice when you don't encounter heavy traffic at night
@@SgtGoodGaming thanks for your support! Yes it’s definitely nice with no traffic. Although I wish I would have turned on my wipers, but oh well.
@@treycamardelle better to "Arrive Alive."
Wish I could do this kind of action packed first responder stuff but they won't let me join on account of my ADHD autism spectrum disorder diagnosis
