This was filmed in Brisbane, Australia, a lot of the actors in the clips you showed are aussie actors, the bridge in one of the clips is a historical bridge in Brisbane, William Jolly Bridge. Right at the end that's Brisbane City Hall in the centre of the city.
If I remember correctly, this movie is basically a feature length version of one of the episodes of the original cartoon. They do change a few things (in the original episode Gadget's replacement was male and more similar to something like The Terminator), and they obviously try to stretch the story out, but there are scenes that are taken directly from that episode and remade in live action.
Not only that but the furst film shared the exact same premise as an episode of the show where Claw makes a fully robotic version of "Inspector Gadget" as a means to frame the real Gadget. The only difference is in the episode, that Claw doesn't kidnap the actual Gadget and kill him.
Yeah same here, don't get me wrong...the first one was bad, but it was at least funny. I actually wanted to see what happened after Gadget hooked up with Brinda and found some of the jokes pretty clever. One of my personal faves was when Evil Gadget was attacking the city and some Asian man said. "This is why I left Tokyo!!!" That's funny and the overall plot wasn't done too badly either. It just suffered from bad acting and some miss-direction. This, on the other hand, is just a mess...first off, why isn't Brinda in it? She kind of was a pretty big part of the first movie folks...second, the animation is really bad, I mean I know it's straight to DVD so lower budget...but come on guys...
This movie was my childhood I have watched it probably a million times. When I was young this movie for some reason attracted me and to this day I don't know why.
FUN FACT: This movie is entirely set in Brisbane (QLD, Australia). According to Wikipedia, the filming locations includes the Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point Campus, Queensland Parliament House, University of Queensland St. Lucia Campus, South Bank Parklands Beach, Toowong Village, Anglican Church Grammar School and the William Jolly Bridge.
For me, the difference between the first and second Inspector Gadget is basically that the first one is "90's bad," whereas the second is "2000s bad." 90s bad is stuff like Full House, Flubber, and Richie Rich. Even though it's awful, it has a kind of warmth and charm to it. 2000s bad is like Spy Kids, Cat in the Hat, and Scooby Doo, and it's so much worse to me. The 2000s were when CGI and digital film cameras both became ubiquitous, and the aesthetic of 2000s movies that had no budget or talent behind them is just all around unpleasant to look at, saying nothing of the terrible writing or acting.
"The sad desperate souls that like the first film..." Not a fan of the first film...but you like Spider-Man 3, Matrix 3 and X-Men 3....so chill out with the pedestal you're putting yourself on.
Yeah, I always find it so ironic how Doug constantly says as himself that it's okay to disagree with him... and frequently insults/mocks people for disagreeing with him on several other occasions. It's one thing when he does it as the Nostalgia Critic, but it's really self contradictory when he does it as himself.
i watched this movie so much as a kid that i remember every single line from each character, i replayed this movie in my head while trying to go to bed
Something tells me a lot of drugs were taken in the pre-production of this film by director/producer/writer/someone....and then they sobered up and realized what a mess they had created and tried to salvage what they could.

this movie was filmed in my city and as a result it's low-key a cult classic here. plus all of the filming locations are easily recognisable and it's fun to point it out or quote the movie when you're at one.
What's very interesting is that this movie was the very first time seeing inspector gadget at all, the 1st live action one I rarely saw anyway, and the 80s cartoon I never knew was a thing until I got older.
I grew up with inspector Gadget and my 1st dog when I little I named Gadget after the show. That dog R.I.P. would watch that show with me. Me on my bed and him under his blanket. Hell he even watched the 1st movie with Broderick with me. But as soon as we watched the sequel he actually growled at the movie till I switched back to the Broderick version. Even my parents laughed at it. So after we cremated him I put the VHS copy right under him.
The irony is that because I didn’t grow up with the cartoon show, but grew up with the 1999 film, I like the first movie much better than this sequel. Even if the sequel is more faithful to the cartoon.
I think the best way to think about Inspector Gadget “2” is it’s not really a sequel but rather a soft reboot. Really the only carry-over from the first movie is the mention of a “high rise evil headquarters”. Also supposedly the second movie was lower budget than the first one. Part of the reason why this movie is not as bad as the first, and why this movie is better off viewed standalone, is this movie seems to be more of an attempt to adapt the original show faithfully and can be seen as a “hypothetical” first movie rather than the actual first one
We watched this every year at my summer camp. It was one of those movies that we always watched, I enjoyed it as a young child seeing as how this what all I got shown and not the cartoon or the first movie.
Disneycember day 28 give us "inspector gadget 2" it was ok stupid but ok also we are almost done with "disneycember" we got 3 more films to see & the "by popular demands" films
I really, really loved this film as a kid. I mean really loved it. It made me want to *be* Inspector Gadget and I have vivid memories of wanting to be him so bad that I dreamed I had his powers. It may just be because it was always on the Disney Channel when it first released and I just watched it to death, but I have really fond memories of this film. For me its that one stupid film that every one has that they just love, regardless of how 'bad' it really is... And I refuse to ever watch it again because I know i'll probably hate it now I have taste and ruin my childhood. Its to precious to me to lose.
What's weird is that I remember this one getting a big push, at least in Australia. It had toys at McDonalds, for one thing. I wasn't interested enough to see it, so I always assumed it was released in cinemas until I looked it up.
JasonJacksonJames How would I go about proving it? I don't have kids, but I'm 26 years old. I have friends with ever growing families who like to watch stuff on the internet, so it stands to reason that there are parents out there. The critic has been around for ages, after all...
The joke that always gave me a chuckle in the movie is:
Gadget: I would like some milk.

She kind of was a pretty big part of the first movie folks...second, the animation is really bad, I mean I know it's straight to DVD so lower budget...but come on guys...
Nah this is better
This movie was my childhood I have watched it probably a million times. When I was young this movie for some reason attracted me and to this day I don't know why.
This might be just nostalgia but I still like this movie. Was a big part of my childhood.
FUN FACT:
This movie is entirely set in Brisbane (QLD, Australia).
According to Wikipedia, the filming locations includes the Queensland University of Technology Gardens Point Campus, Queensland Parliament House, University of Queensland St. Lucia Campus, South Bank Parklands Beach, Toowong Village, Anglican Church Grammar School and the William Jolly Bridge.
I loved French Stewart in 3rd Rock From The Sun.
Inspector Gadget 2: Stitch has a glitch
Inspector Gadget 2 was filmed in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.
penny is so much cutter in this movie
Lord Prince Zuko She's a cutter? That helps explain the ending of the Christmas episode.
As an adult, you can really tell it was filmed in my hometown and its nice to see all of the landmarks and such
"The sad desperate souls that like the first film..."
Not a fan of the first film...but you like Spider-Man 3, Matrix 3 and X-Men 3....so chill out with the pedestal you're putting yourself on.
Ohhh Spider-Man 3 isn’t that bad 😂
I'm more baffled that he enjoys The Visit. That film wasn't either scary or funny.
That fucking rapping kid made me want to break things.
“What’s this films trying to be”
More faithful to the cartoon
Why does everyone hate Matthew Broedrick isn't he great?
Doug probably hasn't seen Election.
No.
Harry Thomas Pictures he thinks he's kinda bland
He's a great actor, but many of the roles he played in were pretty awful.
It happens to a lot of well-known actors.
Because he hasn't seen The Producers or Tower Heist
My highlight of every day is hearing that intro music
Pre-review Thoughts:
Heard about it, never saw it, Netflix may still be streaming it. That's all my thoughts on it.
Brace yourself for Doug's rage!
i watched this movie so much as a kid that i remember every single line from each character, i replayed this movie in my head while trying to go to bed
Something tells me a lot of drugs were taken in the pre-production of this film by director/producer/writer/someone....and then they sobered up and realized what a mess they had created and tried to salvage what they could.
I actually really loved this movie as a kid, as in I'd watch it several times a month... I'd have to rewatch it to see how it holds up xD
French Stewart is actually a better inspector.
This movie is kind of funnier and better than the previous movie.
@@thefantasticretroreviewer3941 Love The Lion King (1994), Lilo & Stitch (2002), Aladdin (1992), Beauty and the Beast (1991), The Little Mermaid (1989), and Tarzan (1999)
this movie was filmed in my city and as a result it's low-key a cult classic here. plus all of the filming locations are easily recognisable and it's fun to point it out or quote the movie when you're at one.
The effects from the first film was created by the legendary Stan Winston'
So the effects are far superior than the sequel
I had this on V.H.S, tape when I was young
Do home alone 4. Please 🙏🏻
Wish has been granted
Doug should have also mentioned that the Gadgetmobile is the only character to having a returning actor while everyone else is replaced
It's one of those films that the sequel is better than the first.
What's very interesting is that this movie was the very first time seeing inspector gadget at all, the 1st live action one I rarely saw anyway, and the 80s cartoon I never knew was a thing until I got older.
G2 vs The TX anyone?
I grew up with inspector Gadget and my 1st dog when I little I named Gadget after the show. That dog R.I.P. would watch that show with me. Me on my bed and him under his blanket. Hell he even watched the 1st movie with Broderick with me. But as soon as we watched the sequel he actually growled at the movie till I switched back to the Broderick version. Even my parents laughed at it. So after we cremated him I put the VHS copy right under him.
I'm wondering if he's going to look at Gadget and the Gadgetinis?
The irony is that because I didn’t grow up with the cartoon show, but grew up with the 1999 film, I like the first movie much better than this sequel. Even if the sequel is more faithful to the cartoon.
Well since he did full review of a Goofy Movie, here's hoping he does a full review of this
"Go go gadget don't" I bet he was really proud of that joke.
And I liked Gadget 2 over the first one.
I like Eevees. And so do you, it seems.
i noticed that too with bruce spence being baxter, i remember him from mad max 2
I have to disagree with him here. I enjoyed the first movie when it came out. This one? Even as a kid, I could tell that it was going to suck.
I liked this one.
I wish Disneycember never ended. This is literally the only thing that got me through this month
do zootopia and finding dory!!!!!
At least it's more faithful to the source than the first movie
wait, wasn't there a love interest in the first one?
C'MON this deserves a full nostalgia critic review
No no Gadget, don't.
What's weird is that I remember this one getting a big push, at least in Australia. It had toys at McDonalds, for one thing. I wasn't interested enough to see it, so I always assumed it was released in cinemas until I looked it up.
Why does he keep saying "if your kids want to watch this movie..." ??? nobody here have kids
Actually, it's perfectly reasonable that there are parents watching these videos.
Joe Homer
prove it
JasonJacksonJames How would I go about proving it? I don't have kids, but I'm 26 years old. I have friends with ever growing families who like to watch stuff on the internet, so it stands to reason that there are parents out there. The critic has been around for ages, after all...
Joe Homer
again, prove it.
JasonJacksonJames How is he suppose to prove it?
Finaly! i have been waiting for you to talk about this move ever since the nostalgie critic episode
YES! I've been waiting for you to do a video on this! weather it was in disneycember or a review I'm just glad that it finally got the attention
The only time I come for Inspector Gadget is when i'm looking at Penny pics.
Specifically the ones with her and Brain..
