Science World in Vancouver gets $20 million for repairs

- Premier David Eby announced $20 million to rehabilitate Science World, a landmark built for Expo 86 and one of the most recognizable structures along Vancouver’s seawall - whose IMAX movie theatre has been closed due to a leaky roof.

@@James-eq8cq It’s the government’s fault there is this on the streets. They closed down mental asylums and forced everyone on the street ! Now it’s their job to fix it not show off that we have a disco bowl in the city but solve the problems THEY HAVE CAUSED
I have questions as to why these haven't been budgeted over the years. Science world has been pay to get in for a number of years, I'm sure they could have allocated a few dollars over the years. I'm curious as to who is responsible for consistently deferring maintenance. Definitely an icon for Vancouver and should be taken care of, but $20million seems quite excessive

Keep in mind they almost closed it a couple years back due to covid shut downs. They dont manage their finances very well
Probably an ownership problem - the operator doesn't necessarily have the rights to do the maintenance if the landlord doesn't okay it. The city/province may be the landlord but chances are they're outsourcing the maintenance to a third party professional management company who would defer the question back to the landlord when it comes to something this major. Probably makes more sense to reconstruct the whole dome a la the ship of theseus.
$20 million isn't even the amount it needs, apparently it needs around $100 million.

$20 million? I am not a homeless advocate, but is it really necessary expenditure for the city when so many people are living on the street?

@@James-eq8cq I mostly agree with you. But I don't think the science world is something to be inspired by. I used to be an annual member, when my kids were young. It was mediocre at best. The actual price tag could go up to $100 mil according to the broadcast? I am sure there is a better place to spend that much tax payer money in the province,
@sjt_w_stot That's... not a publicly funded installation... it wasn't paid with our tax dollar. The chandelier was funded completed by a private investor
Awesome Vancouvers got 20 million $ for the science world dome!! What about the dtes issues? What about additional support resources? What about additional safer Sro’s ? 20 million on a dome I mean it’s a pretty cool looking dome but that’s nots the point, that type of money should go towards the real issue’s Vancouver is currently facing

Haven't you noticed that the more effort put into the DTES - the bigger the problem gets ? its a colossal failure and a waste of money - and just a way for 1 group to use another to give themselves a 'career' .. 'OH LOOK JOHNNY IS IN THE GUTTER; GIVE ME 100 BUCKS TO TAKE HIM FOOD' The sooner you block "DTES' out of your head, the better Vancouver will be - there is NO success story in Portland, Seattle, SAN FRAN, L.A. its only getting better because of drugs that are fatal
We are dedicating 200 mil per year to house the homeless. That's 10x what's being put forth here...

Perhaps, However the Universe may have had a beginning. It is a very complex and Intelligent Designed. And the Universe is very old.
Creation is only the rearrangement of matter as Matter does not evolve from nothing.

Other Than Truth there is Just The understood Concept of An Absence. Lies with intent to deceive or not is fantasy. Lies remain in the nonexistent realm.
Nothing is created without Intelligent Design.

It is the complex intelligent design of creation of the Universe Where in we Live That truly helps us to understand the Intelligent Design of Life.
The Universe was Designed for life on this Earth.
Love and Care for All Other as You Would Like to be Loved and Cared for. It is the basic of Justice. It is the only success for humanity.

Gods Are Imaginary Personages Of Worship
Gods are not creators. There are Hundreds of Gods that the human has worshipped.
Fathers are not creators. It takes both father and Mother to create a child and the mother has more to do with the creation than does the father. The child is attached to the mother for nine months receiving nutriments for the creation.
Religion has refused to give Honest respect to the female. And they have exalted the male, with the Lie that the Father is the creator of the child.
Science Lacks Understanding The Spirit Energy Source.

Spirit is an Energy similar to Electricity. unseen with the eye. Life itself is spirit.
The basic principles of Christianity is corrupt and promotes Injustice. sentencing and Executing an innocent man for the crimes of all humanity. and they promote Cannibalism by a ritual that they pretend they are eating Jesse's flesh and drinking his blood.
Jesus: The man Christianity worship refused to kill any Human and taught to love and care for all humans by in the book they worship.
The Great Creator performs Justice. You all will face your own consequences for your corruption and crimes. You will not pin them on an innocent man.
Most would understand better if they had experienced the many Miracle in my 90 Years on this earth.
The most outstanding was George Neigh and his Daughter that had a special spiritual gift of filling hollow teeth with gold or silver. five had a diamond imbed in the filling. His Daughter would invite people to watch the metal pour into the hollow tooth.
However, The gift of filling teeth as George and his daughter had, is no greater than the technology that the Gifts humans have received from the spiritual realm of the Great Creator; in the medical professions and communication.
A great many lives have been save by the gift of the medical professions.
The Gift of Understanding Knowledge is far more practical and beneficial to Humanity Than Georges' Gift of filling teeth.
In fact George was very upset with people trying to use him as a Dentist; Coming to his house asking to have their tooth filled.
His gift was only to show the spirit energy source; Not to take the place of a dentist.
Honesty and understanding is the only true belief. Without honesty and understanding we do not know what to believe. To accept other’s opinion of the truth without proving it to yourself; it is being deceived it is not believing. We must understand to believe.
Truth will solve all our problems before we create them; and ignore or reject the truth; problems will multiply all by themselves; those problems will need no help.
Have a great and a meaningful life if it is at all possible.

The concept was originated by a guy in the 1920s that wanted to 'use principles that govern the universe to help advance the evolution of humanity' - to do more with less so humans will have more. Isnt that more noble & at a higher level than just saying "AHH AHHH ITTTSSS UGGGG LLEEE' ?
